The weight of her kit thrown from her shoulders, Khavo found there were more important things to do than worry about the sandwich she forgot to eat the night before, which still remained in the bag of her kit. I better not forget that.. She thought to herself, hardly wishing for her quarters to smell like some concoction of chicken, spinach and a dairy-less mayonnaise. Even the thought had her cringing in her step, a quirk she quickly fixed.

Navigating the halls of the ship, which was far larger than the tiny freigher she had come from, prior, Khavo made her way to the turbolift, with every intention of meeting with the Captain within the next fifteen minutes. Offering an animalistic grin to one of the passing officers, harldy expecting the look of concern she received from him, she shrugged her shoulders and slid into the turbolift, ordering it to the proper deck.

Keeping to herself in that confined room, barley capable of fitting three normal-sized officers, she listened as the seconds ticked by, hoping it would speed up. Khavo hated to admit it, but after spending six months locked in a tiny room with a touchy Bolian for a roommate, she had become a bit claustrophobic.

As the doors hissed open, she made her way to the Captain’s office, raising her hand to tap the notification chime.

“Enter” came the voice of the newly promoted captain. Upon entering the Captain’s ready room the Rigelian operations chief would observe a messy room with several containers positioned throughout the small room.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

“Good day, Captain..” Khavo was caught off guard by the mess that rested before her. Raising her eyebrows, she knew better than to question it. “Lieutenant Khavo, reporting for duty.”

Standing up behind his desk Johnson observed as the ships new Chief of Operations “Ahh Lieutenant, welcome aboard please take a seat” he began by saying gesturing with his left hand for the chief of operations to take a seat on the vacant chair adjacent to him. “I trust you travelled here with ease” he inquired.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

At first, Khavo wasn’t sure where to look, the boxes and miscellaneous items enough to confuse her. Nodding, she took a seat in the indicated chair, leaning heavily to her right side, while maintaining a formal posture. “I suppose you could say that, yes.” She nodded, offered an odd smile. “How are you, sir?”

Lt. JG Khavo
COO

“I am quite well thank you I suppose you could describe my current situation as hectic,” he said with a slight giggle before becoming seated once again. “So tell me a little about yourself and your history in starfleet” he began by saying before speaking once again. “Can I offer you a drink” he politly said.

Captain Christopher Johnson, CO

“No, thank you.” Khavo was not much of a drinker, not for anything besides water. Smirking a bit at his giggle, finding it a unique quirk she had not seen in other Captains, she leaned forwards. “I have nothing special, excluding my species and involvement in Starfleet. I began my studies at California Institute of Technology, and got my Masters in Quantum Mechanics, I later transferred to Starfleet Academy, where I took courses in operations and star cartography. Afterwards, I first was assigned to an Outpost, where I continued my studies with CT. Since then, I have been through four ships and one starbase.” She smiled, keeping everything vague. Her file, however, did mention various commendations, a few reprimands, a promotion, no demotions, and a list of her citations and awards. Although, nothing indicated how old she was, beyond the fact she had been in Starfleet for nine years. A very cryptic woman.

Remaining silent Chris listened intently to the Chief of Operations as she explained her background in both past education and starfleet. Watching has her lips concluded its movement Chris began to speak. “So I guess you could say you have quiet a distinguished record to say the least.” he began by saying in a polite manner before expressing a more serious expression. “Now I, from looking at your record of your reprimands but I would like to here it from you tell me a little about them if you would.” he asked.

Johnson, CO

“Just another odd duck who knows how to read, Captain!” She giggled a bit, before her entire demeanour changed.

“Sir, I don’t have any reprimands.” Khavo furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as to what he was talking about. “Not too many people are all too fond of little aliens who have the education to retort back when you make a foul remark about them– but I’ve never been violent about these responses.” She had a big heart, which got her into the most trouble. Although, it was a different kind of trouble than that which warranted punishment. “To be honest, I haven’t been in Starfleet long enough to really accumulate any, at least not any that weren’t from the Academy.”

Khavo
COO

“and that Khavo is why you are a member of my crew. One of the privileges I was given upon my promotion and assignment to the Constellation was to find replacements for the currently vacant department head following my promotion I went through several applications for possible crew members and on my way to my quarters one night I read your on a PaDD and your stood out for the reasons you have highlighted in your previous response ” he said in both a polite and informative voice.

Captain Johnson, CO

Khavo offered him an odd look, but she merely shook her head, dismissing the oddities of his remark. “I’m.. glad my credentials suited the position, sir.” She spoke with slight awkwardness, uncertain of how else to respond to him. “Operations is kind of my jam, I mean, just like some scientists were born to do science, I guess I was born to do Ops.” She shrugged.

COO

Remaining silent whilst the Chief of Operations spoke the captain began to compose in his mind what his next question towards the COO would be. Realizing that the COO had concluded her response in a kind and welcoming manner “Furthermore, what lead you to the decision to choose operations as your desired proffesion within starfleet.”

Captain Christoper Johnson
Commanding Officer.

Khavo fell silent for a second, taking in a soft breath. “I’m Jelna, sir. A subrace of the Rigelian people. My people are industrious and highly intellectual, their most prominent establishment being their trade corporation. My family, much like the remainder of the Rigelian people, are merchants. For several years, I endeavoured to be a businesswoman, to try and fit in to my family’s profession. Although, I eventually gave up. I’ve always been a tinkerer, always been fascinated by how things work– how they operate. Coming to Earth, I went to Cal Tech; working several jobs to support myself. Starfleet was never my intention, but it was the only place that seemed right.” She shrugged, brushing off the seriousness. “I mean, who really wants to stay confined to a planet, working at a waitress from nine-to-five and then a bartender from ten-to-three. Don’t you think?” She grinned, trying to get away from talking about herself.
