IC: Ryalla’s lip quivered as she realised she had been caught out. She started to sob quietly as she shook her head. “Please don’t lock me up…” she whimpered. “He begged me to do it, he said it wasn’t proper training unless we took the safeties off. My brother showed me how to reprogram the computer…” she said sheepishly. She watched as Harry tried to save her friend’s life and put her hand to her mouth as she realised what she’d done. “My father’s going to kill me…” she whispered to herself.

Cross’ heart strings pulled at the girl’s obvious distress but this was a lesson that had almost cost Du’Ralle his life. She needed to understand that the safeties were on the holodeck for a reason.”I understand that, Ryalla and I am not going to lock you up but you need to realize how serious this is. Du’Ralle’s life is in jeopardy because you two made the choice to circumvent the holodeck safeties. They are there to prevent exactly this situation. Now, I am going to inform your father, not to punish you, but because you need him right now. You should not be alone at this time. What is your father’s name?” He asked and while he waited he decided he needed to contact Engineering and let them know what had happened and to get an engineer to look at the hack the two teenagers had used and to fix it so they could not do so again. Two teens should have been able to get passed the rank requirement to undo safeties.

Ryalla sniffed and nodded, she knew her father would go crazy but there was no way she could keep this from him. She had never expected that the hack would work and had just thought they had got lucky. She wiped a tear from her eye and sniffed again. “My father’s name is Oshi....” she said quietly. “He’s a Lt in the science department…” she added in a barely audible whisper.

“Just Oshi?” Cross asked sympathetically.

Ryalla sniffed and wiped her nose on her sleeve in a very unladylike fashion. “Just Oshi…um, I mean Lt Ossian but everyone calls him Oshi…” Ryalla gulped as she looked back at the pool of blood left by her friend. “I swear I didn’t mean for him to get hurt…” she added, tears gently rolling down her cheeks.

=^=Cross to Engineering. Chief, there has been an accident on Holosuite 6 due to two teen crewmembers removing the safeties. Can you send up an engineer to see how they managed it and prevent them from doing so in the future?=^=

Cross smiled as he reached out and patted her arm,”I know you didn’t, Ryalla. I hope you will remember this and realize that we have safeties and rules on the ship for a reason. It is for your own safety.” Tapping his combadge he called her father.

Ryalla nodded as she dried her eyes. “I understand,” she said quietly with a sigh.

=^=Ensign Cross to Lt. Ossian. I am at Holosuite 6 with your daughter, sir. There has been an incident and we need you to come here.=^=

An audible sigh came over the comm link. =^= Really? Like right now? I have a date with Lt. Starla in 10 minutes but I’ll swing by your office in a couple of hours…or possibly in the morning…well probably more like 1100 hours, I like to sleep in after a date… =^= he chuckles to himself.

Mother Hen (GM)

Cross felt an urge of anger sweep through him at the cavalier attitude from a father that should have more concern for his daughter. Perhaps it explained why this young woman had had such a chance to get into trouble. Quietly, he spoke keeping his voice even but with a tight edge.

=^=Lieutenant, your daughter was almost involved in a fatality on the holodeck. I think that she could use your guidance right now. She is lucky I do not take her down to the brig for a few hours but I thought as she is underage that you may wish to deal with it. If you are not willing to come pick her up I will change my mind and do so.=^= he warned with all seriousness.

Oshi groaned and shook his head, clearly tonight was not going to be his night. =^=Oh, alright…I’m on my way…=^= he grumbled and sighed. He quickly got dressed, deciding that was probably more appropriate than turning up just in the leopard print boxer shorts he was currently wearing. As he did, he tapped his comm badge. =^= Lt Oshi to Lt Starla, sorry gorgeous but my idiot kid has got herself into trouble yet again, can we take a rain check? =^= he asked hopefully. The sultry voice of Lt Starla quickly replied. =^= Well, you handsome beast, why don’t you sort the kid out and I’ll be waiting in my quarters for you? Oh, and bring champagne… =^= she added with a giggle. Oshi grinned and nodded to himself. =^= I’ll be there as soon as I can…=^= he added as he headed out of the door.

Emily heard the call for an engineer and arrived at the holosuite “What’s going on Cross?” She asked as she took out her tricorder and began scanning the holoprogram.

Bradford (eng)

“Thank you for coming so quickly, Bradford. We have had two youngsters that have succeeded in removing the safeties on this holosuite that almost cost one of them their lives. I would like you to see to it that cannot be achieved again on any holodeck or suite on the ship. How they managed to do so, I have no idea but I am quite sure that the Captain will be asking that question so we’d better have an answer.” Cross said as he kept one eye on Ryalla.

Oshi wandered down to the holosuite and stifled a quick yawn when he saw Cross. “Right, what’s the problem?” he asked, a tone of annoyance in his voice. He looked at Ryalla and raised an eyebrow. “What did you do?” he asked, more out of curiosity than anything else.

Mother Hen (GM)

Cross frowned, he was not very impressed with the obvious lack of parenting skills of this man. Poor Ryalla.”Your daughter’s friend convinced her to turn off the safeties in the holodeck. It almost cost this other young man his life. He is currently in sickbay undergoing surgery, I imagine. I have explained to Ryalla the reason for the holodeck safeties. She appears to be quite remorseful and I did not wish to send her back to your quarters alone after such an accident. She is understandably upset.” Cross wondered if this man was even capable of giving this young girl the guidance and emotional support she obviously needed.

Oshi chuckled and playfully nudged his daughter on the shoulder. “Ah, little scamp huh?” He asked with a chuckle. “I’m sure she’s learnt her lesson…so, was that all, can I go?” He asked, taking Ryalla gently by the arm and leading her away.

“Yeah, go ahead.” Cross muttered as he considered what he should do. He definitely needed to speak to the Counselor about this. Get him to make a follow up visit with the girl. He would also need to inform the Captain or XO of what had taken place.
