It had been a bit of a hectic day so far for the captain and it was only 1000 hours, 4 hours into his 12 hour shift. Stepping out of the turbolift Captain Johnson, walked along the busy bridge and into his peaceful quiet ready room. Other than his quarters the ready room was the one other place on the ship that the captain could get some peace from the multitude of hustle and bustle caused by the day to day running of this ship.

Stepping other to his desk Chris observed the multitude of PaDDs that each housed a tasks that the Captain either needed to get done by the end of the day or a task that was already over due. Collecting a cold glass of Cranberry Juice with ice the captain returned to his desk were he placed his finger on the center PaDD in a large pile of PaDD. These were located in the center to the desk. Lifting up the PaDD Chris began to read it aloud. “Following the departure of the former COS. Cross is next in line call him to the ready room and promote him to the role” having read the PaDD Chris tapped his com badge and spoke.

=^= Johnson to Cross report to the ready room please. =^=

Johnson, CO

“Cross here, Captain.” Came the prompt response as the security officer stood at his station on the bridge.

Cross Sec

=^= Could you come see me in the ready room please Mr Cross =^= came the polite response from the commanding officer who remained seated during the time he was speaking over the com badge.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

=^=Aye sir, on my way.=^= Cross said succinctly as he keyed in a request for a replacement before making his way down the command ramp to the Captain’s Ready Room doors. He straightened his uniform before reaching up to key the companel to let the Captain know he was out here. As he waited the turbolift doors opened as his replacement entered the bridge, nodding to Cross in acknowledgement before going to man the security station.
Cross turned his attention back to the Captain’s door as he waited for the call to enter.

Cross Sec

“Enter” came to the swift response from the commanding officer. When the Security officer entered the room he would observe a multitude of items correlating in an illogical messy pattern throughout the room.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

The dark skinned young human quickly strode into the Ready room before coming to a surprised halt.”Uh…still unpacking, sir?” He asked as his eyebrows rose with his question.

Cross Sec

“Erm… you could say that ensign,” the commanding officer said as he rose to his feet glaring at the clutter-filled floor. “I would say take a seat, but that is if you can find one” he went on to say walking over to the replicator with an empty glass. This glass the same one that a few moments ago held a large iced cranberry juice. “Can I offer you something to drink?” he politely inquired whilst placing his empty glass on the centre of the replicator panel.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

Cross looked up and blinked for a moment, obviously taken back by the offer. A Captain offering to sit down and have a drink with an Ensign? He felt a bit out of his league here. Granted he was an older Ensign due to his taking his Psychological studies after graduation and before deployment, but still.

“Perhaps just a glass of water, sir.” Cross said,”Can I help you with anything in here while we talk, sir?” Was that too brown nosing? He didn’t mean it as brown nosing but it didn’t feel right not to offer help when a need could be seen. Blame the psychologist in him, he supposed. His daddy had also not raised him that way. Good Southern etiquette.

=^= One water and a glass of cranberry juice =^= the captain simply spoke to the monotone computer system housed inside the replicator unit. “No that’s quite okay my new Yeoman is going to help me they just don’t know it yet. ” the man spoke with a chuckle picking up the drinks now that they had been replicated and taking them over to a table and chairs situated in the corner of the room. “please join me” he asked.

Johnson, CO

Cross crossed the Captain’s office with a few quick strides and joined the Captain, taking a seat on the chair across from him. “Thank you, sir.” He said as he sat and took a quick sip of water as he waited for Johnson to begin.

Cross Sec

“So tell me a little about yourself and your time in Starfleet” the commanding officer queried in a polite manner in an attempt to build a mental picture of who the security officer was.

Johnson, CO

Cross sipped his water for a moment as he gathered his thoughts.”My family has served in Starfleet in some form or other since its founding and in many of Earth’s military forces before that. My father spent the majority of his time on Earth stationed in the Federation Security forces. At first I joined the security forces but wished to have Fleet service rather then just Earth based so I applied for the Academy. I also have a strong interest in psychology, my mother’s influence. I find the psychological influence on behavior whether good or bad fascinating. After completing my Security training I entered Starfleet Medical majoring in Psychology. So I have both aspects to bring to my work. The USS Ogawa was my first position before coming here. I must say sir, that I find the Constellation an intriguing study on …interesting behavior.”

Cross Sec

“Well you certainly know a lot about your family and its history” that man began by saying. “How do you find it encompassing psychology into your day to day work as a starship security officer do you feel you use it often?” the man asked in an intrigued manner wanting to learn of JO’s experiences when it came to using psychology in the security field.
