As Emily tried to access the information again the computer rudely grunted at her and displayed a screen saver of a gerbil riding a mini bicycle across the screen.

Mother Hen (GM)

Emily reached into the inner workings of the holodeck to pull what appeared to be a damaged relay without really paying attention to anything that was near her.

Bradford (eng)

Following her embarrassing parking attempt on the bridge, Ensign Fran decided that some much needed de-stressing was in order. Her friend Kylie had told her about a new holodeck programme with a stunning beach which she thought sounded pretty good right about now.

As she approached the holosuite she sighed as she saw the young engineer working on the controls. She grumpily put her hands on her hips and shrugged her shoulders, it seemed like nothing was going her way today. She folded her arms and leant against the bulkhead in a sulk, hoping that whatever repairs Emily was doing wouldn’t take too long.

As Emily pulled on the relay, the console in front of her sparked violently. Before she had time to think, the shock threw her across the room, pumping her full of volts and catapulting her through the open doorway into the corridor.

Gasping at the sudden appearance of a woman flying through the air, Fran ran over and peered at Emily as she tapped her comm badge.

=^= Ensign Fran to sickbay, medical emergency in holosuite 6! =^= She squeaked as she started trying to rouse the young woman.

Mother Hen (GM)

=/\= On my way=/\=

Gong’da was panting when he got there, his little legs were almost too weak to hold him up. He saw the Ensign in the ground with what appeared to be an electric burn on her hands. He fell down next to her to check to see if she was breathing. As he did that he spoke without looking up at the other ensign there. “What happened!” He snapped.

Gong’da CMO

Fran bit her lip nervously, wondering if she’d get the blame for this too. “I…I…don’t know…” she stammered. “I was just standing here and I heard something crackle and she came flying through the door!” she squeaked. “I think she had her hand in here…” Fran went to go and touch the panel Emily had been working on.

Mother Hen (GM)

Gong’da looked up and yelled. “No! Don’t touch that! Get back here! Computer! Use Chief Medical Officer Gong’da code 6328642 to perform emergency shutdown of holodeck 6 and end programs. “

Fran nearly jumped out of her skin as Gong’da shouted at her and sheepishly shuffled back to the corridor, a little embarrassed that she had nearly been stupid enough to suffer the same fate as the poor engineer.

He went back to checking if Emily was breathing and if not he will perform CPR.

Gong’da CMO

OOC: I’ve spoken to Tyra as she’s LOA for a few days and she is happy for me to move this on a little bit.

IC: Emily was breathing but it was erratic, as was her heart beat and if she didn’t get treatment soon she would almost certainly go into cardiac arrest. She also had electrical burns on both hands that would need treating.

Fran nervously watched the doctor work as she anxiously nibbled on a fingernail. “Is she going to be ok?” Fran asked in a concerned voice.

Mother Hen (GM)

Gong’da didn’t look up or say anything as he was counting the beats. Once done he pressed his com badge. =/\= Sickbay. Get a bed ready for one. I am beaming in with her. Start the difibulator and have it ready. Get the creams and bandages ready for electrical burns=/\=

He pressed his chest again. “Maybe” he said to Fran. =/\=Transporter room this is the CMO. Lock on to my signal and beam the three of us directly to sickbay for an emergency. =/\=

=/\= Security. This is the CMO. I need a guard at holosuite 6 until Engineering can fix it. It’s dangerous to go inside. Engineering! I need someone to fix holosuite 6 before anyone else can get hurt. I have emergency stopped the program and shut it off but don’t know if it worked. I have one of your own in sickbay with severe electrical burns. =/\=

<sickbay thread>

A new engineer appeared. Ensign Yelchin. “I am hearing there is problem with holodeck?” He said in a thick Russian accent. Seeing Emily on the ground, he said “I am also seeing problem on holodeck.”

-NE Yelchin

OOC: Continued from sickbay thread.

IC: As Yelchin peered at the holodeck controls, they sparked a little and then showed him the mini bicycle riding gerbil again.

Mother Hen (GM)

“Is this gerbil on bicycle?” Yelchin mused, staring at the screen for a moment. “Is very amusing but is not much helpful. Computer; trace origin of holodeck control bicycle gerbil animation. Also, is circuit overload? Or is interface overheated? Which is cause for electrocution of Engineer?”

-NE Yelchin

= Animation taken from Ensign Bob’s computer…no circuit overload detected…no overheating interface detected…foreign equipment detected in control panel… = the computer helpfully bleeped and brought up a schematic of where to find the unknown device.

Mother Hen

“Ensign Bob. This is insane Ensign, yes?” He asked the security guard posted, as though he could possibly be interested. “Well, so that I do not end up fried Engineer, I will put on rubber gloves. Rubber grounds electricity. Very smart, eh?” Donning what might as well be dishwashing gloves, he slowly pulled the panel out of place. “I will bet you gold pressed latinum, fifty, Ensign Bob is not just source of gerbil on bicycle.” He chuckled. “Eh. Gerbil on bicycle. Still funny.

-NE Yelchin

The security officer sniggered and nodded his head. “Well, I’m not sure he’s insane, he’s just…enthusiastic?” he offered kindly. They all knew that Bob was a bit of a loose cannon but he was a good laugh and it was always handy to have someone around they could blame mishaps on.

As Yelchin examined the panel he would notice a small device, not much bigger than a hand held padd had been attached to the safety controls and rather crudely wedged down the side. It appeared that it had done the job of bypassing the safeties but had then short circuited causing the rather unfortunate incident with Ensign Bradford. The design was not like anything found in the star fleet database. Thankfully the device’s charge had been exhausted and it was not going to cause any further electrocutions.

Mother Hen

“Ah! I have found problem.” He disconnected the device and held it in one hand. “This… is not Starfleet technology. Or anything like. Maybe hand made. Not installed by engineer. That is why Bradford is barbecue right now. Maybe foreign, but it is not something familiar to me or computer.” He turned it over a few times and got out his tricorder. Maybe he could at least understand how it worked.

-NE Yelchin

The device was most definitely alien in design and appeared to be more advanced than any federation technology. The scans showed that the device itself was in good working order, the problem had been caused with how it had been jerry rigged into the holodeck control system. It seemed as though the device could be programmed to bypass a subroutine and replace it with one of it’s own, of which there seemed to be hundreds to choose from. In the wrong hands it would be a very dangerous device.

Mother Hen

Having left the bridge following the conclusion of the transmission between the Constellation and the Planet Evagen in regards to the crew visit to there resort. Chris began to walk down the long winding corridor and towards were the plethora of holodecks were situated. Chris had decided to do this due to the fact that he had heard that an unknown device had been wired in so to speak to the holodecks control matrix. Arriving at the holodeck, where the device had been located, Chris approached an engineer who he was unfamiliar with. “This must be one of the new engineering JO’s we brought aboard when we were last at starbase 65” he said aloud stopping when he found himself stood adjacent to the engineer.

“Ensign Yelchin Sir.”

“Ahh, Mr Engineer, what do we have here then I have just heard reports of a device of unknown origin is attached to my holodecks” the man began by saying in a semi-authoritative manner. “I do hope its not going to damage my beautiful holodecks” he went on to say.

Johnson, CO

“Ah, yes Captain. We were having little difficulty and slight frying of Ensign Bradford. This thing is… completely unknown to me. But it caused malfunction and zap on engineer.” He moved to reset the wiring to its intended position. “This won’t take much time to fix. Was showing gerbil on bicycle animation from computer of Ensign Bob. Now, should work like holodeck.”

-NE Yelchin

“Thank you for the report Ensign” the captain began by saying in a polite manner whilst still showing manner with well represented one of a discombobulated person. “I dont suppose there is the possibility of getting the device removed in one piece so that we can analyse it” he went on to say.

Johnson, CO

“Ah, I already have device.” He reached into his pocket. “This is alien device. Do you want?”

-NE Yelchin

“Please” he began by saying grasping with his left hand to collect the unknown device. “Do you have any thoughts to were its from” he queried.

Johnson, CO

“Well, delightful bicycle gerbil animation is from computer of Ensign Bob. I would start there if I were Captain. But I am not Captain. Unless you want to trade pips, eh?”

-NE Yelchin

“Thank you, Mr Yelchin for that piece of vital information.” he began by saying in a complimentary manner it was evident that the young ensign was well versed in the ins and outs of being an engineer maybe he could prove helpful in this investigation the CO pondered. “Sadly I won’t be trading my pips today Mr” he concluded by saying.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

“Computer has no record of origin of device or what type of alien technology it is. But I think Ensign Bob installed, because it was done wrong. That zapped Ensign Bradford. Turns her into crispy Ensign, because wires are crossed, some loose. No Starfleet Engineer make those mistakes.”

-NE Yelchin
