Aaron had made a decision, finally. After Captain Johnson had vanished in the Looking Glass, he had taken on the role of CO, and after the reports to Starfleet, had been made official with a promotion to Captain. So now he had to pick his XO, and there was one person he had in mind after narrowing it down.

He tapped his combadge “Michaels to Lieutenant Hegush. Please report to my ready room whenever you have a moment.” He said, he wasn’t in a hurry, so he didn’t need the other man to.

Aaron Michaels, CO

OOC: Since the promotion is being made official IC here, I used the old rank.

OOC: Makes sense to me.

IC: In his quarters Hegush dipped his paint brush into the gold on his pallet. He was just adding that gold into the highlights of the portrait he was painting’s hair when Michaels comm call came through. Forgetting he still had the brush in his hand, Hegush hit the comm badge still attached to his uniform, flicking the remainder of the paint on the brush in the air as he did so. =A= I’m off shift now, I’ll be there once I’ve cleaned up,=A= he replied belatedly laying his paint brush to rest in the water and staring pointedly at the portrait he had been painting.

Blue eyes momentarily covered brown as the portrait blinked. “Does this mean we’re finished?” the portrait asked it’s hand hovered in the air, reaching out to grab the nearby mirror and admire Falz’s work. “Don’t touch your nose!” Hegush exclaimed, lightly slapping the hand of his canvas away from where it had been trying to poke at the Bajoran nose Hegush had painted on. “You’ll ruin it.” he scolded, “Those are hard to paint you know. And yes you are dismissed… Kra… uh port… uh, Ensign-” he caught himself at the last minute trying desperately to remember the name of the Ensign that had offered to be his canvas for today, but unable to recall even the first syllable of their name. “Just remember that if you want to protect your new face you will need too…” he rattled off all the instructions he needed to pass on as he dabbed at the gold splash on his uniform.

By the time the portrait-Ensign had enough sense to interrupt him and remind him that he still had to meet with Michaels, the patch of gold splotches on his uniform had turned into wet smeared stains. Deciding that would have to do, he left the cloth in his quarters and made his way to Michaels office. Looking only slightly scruffy, with only a little evidence of his recent endeavours sitting in subtle dots in his hair and on his hands, and not so subtle poorly cleaned smudges on his shoulder and by his comm badge; Hegush rang the chime to let the new Captain know he had arrived.

Lt. Hegush
