Aaron was looking around the Ops deck, looking over the impressive array of displays. It was definitely a large change from a starship where space was much more limited. On the station, it was easier to have larger, more uni-task stations.

He was hoping to get a chance to talk to Lt Cabot, the stations Chief of Security.

“Computer, locate Lt. Cabot.”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

=^=Lieutenant Cabot is in her office,=^= the computer replied.

~Liana Cabot~

“Excellent,” Aaron said standing up. Even better to meet with the Lieutenant in her office, that usually calmed people down as it was on their own turf.

Stepping out of his office, Aaron headed for the turbolift. It took a few minutes to reach the Cabot’s office, that was something else he was going to have to get used to about being on a Starbase, everything was much farther away.

As he arrived he hit the chime on the office door and waited.

“Come,” Liana called out, looking up from her paperwork. The doors parted to reveal a standard office, though Liana had placed a few personal items about that were not too terribly personal. A few knick-knacks that she had picked up on her travels, she hoped some personality would at least make her juniors feel less intimidated by her.

Behind the desk, she sat regarding the newcomer with her blue eyes, upon taking note of the rank, she rose out of respect, “Can I help you sir?” She asked.

~Liana Cabot~

“At ease Lieutenant. Please sit down, this is your office,” Aaron said stepping in. “I’m the new Executive Officer here and I wanted to take a chance to get to meet some of the crew.

“So tell me Lieutenant, how are you liking your time on Magellan so far?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

Liana settled back into her seat, “Pleased to meet you, have a seat,” she invited, gesturing to the pair of chairs on the other side of her desk, “I quite like the station, we have a good bunch of people here and it makes my job much easier I find.”

~Liana Cabot~

“Thank you Lieutenant,” Aaron said pulling out the chair and sitting down. “I’m sure it does. So it’s pretty quiet around here then?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“I wouldn’t say that, it’s certainly different from say a starship,” Liana replied, “We have the influx of people, coming and going and shopkeepers. For the most part they’re good people, but they have the occasional slightly illegal transaction that I need to act upon.”

~Liana Cabot~

“Okay, so nothing too out of the ordinary when you have a much larger traffic of people coming and going then it sounds like. But what about stuff outside of the station? Has there been any recent activity out there? You know, new things to explore? Interesting encounters with other species?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“There’s been some, as one might expect, I can provide you with a briefing if you like,” Liana replied, “I mean we’re between the Romulans and Klingons, there’s bound to be some adventure,” she joked lightly.

~Liana Cabot~

“I’m sure I can find it in the stations logs Lieutenant. But I’m sure the Romulans and Klingons are more then happy to provide us with some entertainment. They are not exactly known for playing nicely.

“So anything that we can help you with? Or that I should be aware of coming in here?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“I’ve had some run ins with the marine captain, though the new one and I appear to be able to get along, so we’ll see,” Liana explained, “I’m hoping we can really work on a bit of integration of roles, allowing our departments to do what we do best, but do it together. I imagine you’ll want to be kept informed of that progress?”

~Liana Cabot~

“Of course Lieutenant, please let me know how it proceeds. I can see how it will work well for both of your departments to have further cooperation. While in the end your roles are similar, I know tactics wise it can be quite different. Security is primarily a peace keeping force, while Marines tend to shoot first and ask questions later. But when they shoot, they tend to be much more accurate. Hopefully, by working together you can both learn something.”

Aaron knew they were over exaggerations, but stereotypes do have a reason for existing.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“I think I can work with the new Marine Captain, she seems quite willing to figure out ways for us to work together while still doing what our teams are designed to do,” Liana replied, “One of my juniors came up with a scenario we’re working on together, sort of a war game type scenario that we can use as a team building exercise hopefully.”

~Liana Cabot~

“Oh? Sounds interesting. Would it be a joint exercise, with your teams working together? Or would it be one verse the other?”

LtCmdr. Foley - XO

“I think the plan is to have some security and marines on each side, there’s something to be learned by playing the bad guy after all,” Liana replied, “We haven’t finished hashing out all the details, but that’s where my head is at.”

~Liana Cabot~

Aaron nodded. “Not to mention that there is always the chance that the marines might actually learn something from your team,” he said chuckling. “Well be sure to let me know what you end up planning, and how it goes. In the meantime, is there anything else that I can help you with?”

LtCmdr. Foley - XO
