“Encrypted? What could a merchant need an encrypted message for?” Avalise mused. “Let me see if I can trace the destination,” she said as she worked the console.

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

“Lets see if we can see if there is anything remaining of the transmission that we can pull up,” Aaron said moving over towards another console and seeing if he could reconstruct any of the message, even if it was still encrypted.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

It was then when all hell broke loose. From the Ops board the XO and the COO could see that a cascading system failure was starting, bringing down all the major systems in a sporadic manner. No real pattern and nothing that affected all the decks. Lights first, then elevators, communications, tractor beams, navigation and then… Gravity.

Slowly the bridge crew started to rise from their seats. Float really.

GM Wombat

“Oh no, no, no, no, you don’!” Rendand all but hissed as she gripped onto her console.

OOC: Cross post from the Main Sim Docking Ring thread

=^=Security Officer Harris to Ops be advised I’m getting power fluctuations in docking ring three. Backups are functioning within normal parameters=^=

Harris, Security

The presence of functioning backups was more than good to know at this point.

Were the backups working? Where they actually? Probably not at this point.

The gravity changed, allowing people to drift in eerie surprise. The Captain was no less surprised than the rest of her bridge crew. Sitting in her office, she felt herself suddenly floating off of her chair. Her brow furrowed as she clicked the button that opened her office door to the rest of the bridge. Holding on to the desk, she leaned forward. It was rather fascinating to see everyone floating as she was. Was this happening all over the station? If so, people could get hurt. It wasn’t like people expected Gravity to fail like this. Floating meant possibly leaving the floor and drifting to a height detrimental to one’s health when the gravity came back. “Commander Foley, Report.”

Briony, CO

“Still working to ascertain that Captain.”

Avalise wasn’t called upon, but she looked at Aaron as she held onto her console, careful not to do any motion that would set her moving in the weight-less atmosphere. “Might be worth finding Mr. Mord,” she grumbled. “And you might want to warn people without gravity that I’m about to attempt to get it back.”

“Computer, switch to secondary computer core and reboot primary systems, authorization Rendana- Pi-Three- Two-Gamma Six-Three.” The faster they isolated the issue in the Main Core, the better chance she had of keeping the station operational. If she could do that, then they could assess the damage the transmission caused and meanwhile keep the emergency systems on standby.

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

The computer remained silent a moment, a long moment, before returning a simple: “I’m sorry. I don’t understand your request right now. Please try again later.”

GM Wombat

“Since when did the computer become so polite?,” Aaron asked as he tried to hold himself in place against the console he was next to. “The Lieutenant found a spike in our power systems, it looked like some sort of message. We had just started trying to decrypt the message when we started seeing these power fluctuations, and now artificial gravity failure Captain.”

He pulled himself down by the lip of the console, and tried to tuck his boots underneath the bottom lip to hold himself down.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

“At this point, if the computer isn’t responding, the only thing I can probably do is do a manual hard reboot and switch us to the secondary core for the interim, but I’ll have to get down to computer cores to do it.” It was utterly suck to have to make anyway through the station with partial or no gravity and who knew if doors and latches were working properly. She’d have to get equipment, especially an emergency hand actuator.

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

Kelly was on watch when the alarms went off of gravity loss. She reached over to tap out a few commands on the nearby console. Noticing the promenade was still maintaining gravity, she then noticed other places weren’t. As the bridge lit up as one place beginning to ‘float’ she tapped her badge. =^= 2nd Lieutenant Pippin here. Bridge, are you all right? Besides loss of gravity? I’m noticing it all over the station. Though promenade is holding. Sending security there now to be on standby in case of loss there as well.=^= She nodded to one of the other Marines in the room with her and him and his buddy took off to do just that, grabbing a couple more from the next room as they departed.

She was about to put in a call to the Marine Commander, out of ‘knee jerk’ habit when she remembered they were off station on a hiatus for a spell. Realizing she was at the ‘helm’ so to speak, she began checking other areas to see where she needed to get Marine and security assistance to.
