In sickbay, the lights and gravity stay on, but the temperature and humidity slowly increase until it is a sweltering jungle, the uniforms uncomfortably hot and quickly becoming stained with sweat.

“Sweet mother of the universe,” Odraavi swiftly stopped herself before bringing any sense of religion into this. She moved towards the wall, “Computer, what are the levels of humidity and temperature? Why are they rising?” She asked it, gesturing to two of her officers to begin making certain patients had something to cool down with. Ice, she hoped they were able to retrieve, but even just a wet cloth would work. Writhing in her semi-thick clothes, Nishe tugged at her sleeves to relieve herself of the growing humidity.

Dr. Odraavi

The computer came back after a moment of silence. “I am sorry. I don’t understand your request right now. Please try again later.”

Isolated (Isolated from the main computer that is) would register 36 C, quickly rising, with about 80% humidity and also rising.

Bump

“D-mmit.” The humidity mixed with the dreaded heat, was enough to make any of the people sluggish. She glanced over at the isolated information, eyebrows raising in sudden surprise. Without the answers from the computer, there was only one other thing— department, she could ask. =^=Odraavi to Operations, care to explain why the Sickbay is about the equivalent of the Amazon jungle in the middle of June?=^=

Glancing at the patients, she knew they couldn’t stay in the Sickbay and she quickly made her way towards the adjacent hallway, to see if it was cool enough for them to even bother moving patients there.

OOC: Bump. :)

OOC: You need to cross-post comms when there are open threads at the destination. I’ve done it for you since I think people have missed this thread. ~Linds

OOC: That’s what I was forgetting, thank you! Is there already an engineering thread?
Trin

OOC: It was pasted into the Operations thread, which is the Main Sim- Chapter 1 thread that’s going on. Stations do have an area like Engineering, but the COO works a lot out of Operations where the CO and XO are. I’ve cross-posted Amber’s comm as well. ~Linds

“Lt. Rendana is tasking her department. We are aware of the situation and will get to it as we can. Let us know if your need becomes greater than annoyance.”

For the record, the doors between the sickbay and the hallway open just fine, except outside in the hallway the temperature is much closer to freezing, and dry.

As the Doctor reached the doors between Sickbay and the hallway, they slid open and a newcomer entered, nearly bowling the doctor over in their rush to get inside. The newcomer - none other than Ensign TeWhiti - swore under their breath and muttered something along the lines of ‘darn it, not again’. Her, hand as she reached out to either steady herself or the doctor, was ice cold to the touch, and she was shaking slightly.

“Sorry sir,” Aroha apologised hastily, retracting her hand, “I appear to have aquired a habbit of bumping into people lately. Someone should put an alarm on these doors so you know to can get out of the way before you run anyone over. Although… if you’re headed out the way I came you might want to rug up a little more, sir. It’s not exactly the tropical paradise Sickbay currently is.

“Get them out!” A small creature yelled over the chaos that was doctors attempting to figure out ways to cool off the patients that had accumulated over the last several days. Shooing some of them away from standing around, she directed them to different patients. Cold, yes. However, they could fix the cold better than they could fix the heat. After all, they actually had reserves for chill, as opposed to the heat that seemed almost impossible to find in the dead of space.

“Stop worrying about bumping into people, Ensign, and help me get this woman out of here!” Odraavi was not particularly known for being rude, but there was no other way to get the attention of those she was intending to, unless she showed a sense of sternness. Motioning towards an NE, who was sprawled on the bed, clearly perspirating viciously from the heat, she made her way over, helping him off the bed, as where she slung her arm around him, ignoring everything but the man himself.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

“Yes sir,” Aroha nodded crisply, slightly taken aback at the sharp tone of the doctor, but she could feel the urgency in the situation, and refused to let it cut her when there was people that needed helping.
She hurried over to the nearest occupied biobed, another NE, and wrapped her arms around them, helping them first sit, and then stand. “The controls are malfunctioning, sir, you’ll find it much cooler once we get you into the hallway.” She explained as followed the doctors lead, helping her patient out into the hallway.

The man was a bit heavier than he appeared to he, and would take both to help hin out. He leaned heavily against them, speaking not a single word in his state of fatigue. His mind seemed to drift, his eyss unfoccused, overwhelmed by the heat striking his body. Carefully, he walked with the pair of women.

NE

“Let’s set him down, over there.” Odraavi remarked, pointing to an empty part of the hallway, where she then called to another NE Nurse to help a doctor with his patient. “Afterwards, I want you retrieve any and all extra blankets we have, just in case this chill gets too much to handle. All right?” Odraavi seemed all over the place, but she was actually quite aware of what she was doing.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

There are plenty of blankets and other resources for the medical staff to leverage to try and heat the cold and cool the hot.

GM Wombat

Even with the help of Odraavi, the NE’s weight was still heavy on the small ensigns shoulders and she was glad that her life growing up on a farm had given her enough muscle to be able to support his weight comfortably despite her small stature. Even so, it was a relief to set the NE down in the hallway. Whilst the CMO saw to their patient, Aroha went back into the sickbay to gather the blankets as she’d been ordered. As her back turned on the CMO, a brief look of doubt crossed her features, first she was ordered to help move patients, and now she was on blanket duty? It didn’t seem quite right, but as she had to remind herself, now was not the time to be questioning her superiors choice in orders. So she said nothing, and threw herself into grabbing the blankets for the NE.

Some minutes later, after opening the wrong locker twice, in her lack of familiarity with sickbay still, Aroha emerged with a pile of blankets over one arm. In her other hand she had gathered a coulpe of devices that she’d found in the first two lockers. “I found these,” she said holding them up for Odraavi to see better, and almost dropping on in the process, “I’m not an engineer, but I thought these could help possible relieve the temperature situation we seem to have going on around here,”

Ensign TeWhiti
Doctor

Odraavi glanced up from where she had been running a scan over the NE to ensure he was doing all right. Finding that there had been no insane damage from his transport, she nodded to the Ensign, grateful for her willingness to follow what she asked. Searching for blankets was not exactly medicine, but it was just as important to keep these people warm, as it was to make certain all of their ailments were taken care of.

“All right,” She moved to take it from her hand, so the Ensign did not drop them. “Thank you,” She offered, quickly, believing whole heartedly in encouraging the people she worked with. “Let’s get these set up. If someone is in need of assistance, have an NE do it instead, and you see to the patient, aye?”

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

OOC: Bump to keep on boards!
- Trin

Aroha noded her afirmation, and set right to work. Laying the spare blankets down next to the NE she neatly fashioned him a temporary bed with a couple of them in order to protect him from the chill that laced the hallway. When she was done she scanned him to monter his body temperature, ensuring that he had enough blankets to keep him warm.
