“Captain, all of the docked ships should remain docked until we can make sure that they haven’t been infected. Whatever it is that infected our computers could have jumped across the power umbilicals to those ships as well.”

Aaron was momentary distracted by the incoming transmission. “Um Captain. We have an incoming transmission.”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

Briony shook her head. The Captain had meant exactly what she had said, no more, no less. Perhaps in time Aaron would learn how to interpret her commands, but since he was new to her and her style, she simply reiterated her command to him concerning the docked ships personnel. “Commander Foley, I want the people to return to their ships, not for them to disembark. They will be far safer on board their vessels then floating in the corridors of the docking ring, would you not agree? Play the transmission and try to decipher the origin.”

Briony, CO

Aaron gritted his teeth. He knew that, but he was commenting on after the initial situation had been solved. By sending people to their ships it would just increase the risk of them trying to leave before they could be checked. But apparently the Captain knew better then anyone else. “Yes Captain.”

Meanwhile, Rendana had made it to the wall and was retrieving a kit. Nothing fancy, just a few medical things, a general tricorder, hand actuators for doors and a rebreather in case atmosphere was compromised. It wouldn’t do the trick of a full EV suit, but it would save her life if needed. Moving slightly to the right, she opened the hatch to the jefferies tubes and looked over her shoulder. “goin’ in. Wish me luck. I’ll keep you posted about my progress but it could take me awhile to get to cores,” she warned them, in case they were expecting magic and miracles. She didn’t even know if the jefferies tubes even had gravity themselves yet!

=^=Odraavi to Operations, care to explain why the Sickbay is about the equivalent of the Amazon jungle in the middle of June?=^=

Doctor Odraavi (cross posting from Sickbay)

“Lt. REndana is tasking her department. We are aware of the situation and will get to it as we can. Let us know if your need becomes greater than annoyance.”

The incoming transmission light is still flashing.

GM Wombat

Briony slowly made her way across the bridge towards her chair. Once there she sent out copies of her orders to various departments. Then, she sat down carefully. ÄLright Lt. Foley. Open the transmission. Let’s see what its all about. It may be the key to all of this situation.”

Briony, CO

Tapping a few controls he put the communication on the screen. As it came up, he tried tracing it back to the point of origin.”

((crossed from “Docking Rings…” thread.... Meli))

Her next call was to the bridge. =^= Bridge, this is 2nd Lt Pippin… Marine Commander asked me to relay a suggestion of grav boots for those at gravity line thresholds. Carrying folks from negative to positive fields will aid in the transition making casualties less of an issue and speeding up the process.=^= She wasn’t sure if her idea was a sound one, but she remembered how much easier it was to get your feet under you when you weren’t trying to find the direction of ‘down’ at the same time.

bump for GM

A shadowy figure popped up on the screen but it was clearly surprised to see a Star Fleet starbase operations center on the other side. “Uh..” the scrambled voice starts before looking off to the side and muttering to a person off screen, “You said it was supposed to be another freighter!”

The character turned back to the screen and cleared its throat again. “Uh yes. Well this is awkward… Um. Give us all your unrefined ore and we give you back control of your ship.” There is a sound off screen before a muffled hiss, escapes the concealed voice, “We’ll be lucky if they don’t kill us!”

GM Wombat

As the shadowy figure popped up on the screen, she knew she needed to buy time so that Foley could trace the origins as was protocol. Briony put on her game face and watched the correspondence unfold before her. It seemed to be a robbery, with her station being held hostage.

Briony’s face grew more concerned and she pretended to move and adjust settings at her console. “Oh my! It seems you are breaking up. Your signal is very strange and we are having trouble hearing what you are saying. Can you hear me?” She turned to NE Lizaro who had been working with her since she came to this station. She knew Briony was a very serious and formidible woman. The light and curious concern she was showing did not match how the Captain usually gave orders or corresponded. With exaggerated concern, she asked her in a whisper loud enough to be heard. “I can’t seem to get but every other word. Do you think you could clear it up a bit?”

Catching on, the NE nodded. “Yes Captain. I will try. Maybe there is something causing interference with the message?”

She “made” some more adjustments and looked up at the figure. “How about now? Sorry to ask you to repeat yourself but were you needing assistance with some ore?”

Briony, CO

The figure took a moment to regain his or her composure, taking the second chance to sound more firm in their convictions. “Yes, can you hear us clear now?” the figure responded. “We asked for all of your unrefined ore. All of it, don’t really care about the mineral, just send it to the coordinates we give you and we will let your station go!”

GM Wombat

“Oh! Well, that does sound like something we should think on. About how much time do we have to consider this proposal? Maybe I should talk this over with my crew and check what Star Fleet has to say about regulations. Please hold?” Briony continued to look pleasant and accommodating. She muted the channel from her side so that reports coming in could not be heard by the men making ransom demands.

=/\= Rendana to Ops. I’m ready to shut down the Primary Core and boot up the Secondary. Permission to proceed.=/\=

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO (cross posted from jefferies tube thread)

“Permission granted Lt. Rendana.”

=^= Harris to Ops be advised I’m making my way through the Docking ring with extra grav boots to make sure nobody is still back here.=^=

Harris, Security

While the figure was on the viewscreen waiting for a response and Security spoke with Ops another message came in on the Communications board.

=^=USS Liberty to Starbase Magellan. We have a crew transfer for you, Magellan. Requesting permission to approach.=^=

USS Liberty

OOC: The last 4 IC posts require response from someone in charge and then I can take things from there. ;) ~Linds

OOC: Oops sorry. Responses posted :D. - Amber

IC: “USS LIberty, beam our guest over directly to the Magellan bridge. Do not dock with the station. We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and will let you know when we are able to approve docking pHarrw dure.”

Briony, CO

=^=Aye, Captain. Beaming over now.=^=

=^= this is Ensign Harris be advised I found a semi conscious woman outside of port 8. She’s got a open head wound on her right skull. How do you recommend I proceed?=^=

Harris

=^= Ensign, contact medical and have them get a med team to your location. Or if you the situation warrants, use your best judgement to clear the area. =^= Aaron sighed, they did not have time for that right now.

Within a few moments the sparkly lights of a transporter beam started over to the side of the Ops area. When the beam completed the tall, dark form of an El Aurian woman was left standing on the deck. She wore a matching robe and hat set in fall colors with her hair smoothed back underneath the hat. She took a moment to orient from the beam before looking around and finding the Captain. Her ebony eyes honed in as she smiled. “Captain Briony, Counselor Chandel.”

Counselor Chandel

As the Captain had the comm line with the unknown figures on mute, Aaron still had the trace running back to try and figure out there current location. He hoped that they didn’t cut the comm line to soon. But with the Liberty here now, perhaps they could run out to the location once determined to help narrow down the freighters location.
