Teek ‘humphed’ as the guy murmured then palmed the panel to lower the security gate. They were more reliable than energy fields and maintained themselves even in power outages. Marcus had long gone to the back to begin setting up the area they were going to be sleeping in, so Teek was alone as she moved to the tables to begin cleaning up. She looked up and sat the man in the corner and a small squeak escaped her lips. “Oh… lords and ladies you shouldn’t scare someone like that.” A frown then lit her features as she stepped towards him, her hands going to her hips like a mother scolding a child. “What are you doing here? You were supposed to evacuate like the others. There’s trouble on the station.” She motioned towards the door. “You shouldn’t be here. Come on, I’ll let you out…” Her normally stone like demeanor had been shaken by the stranger’s presence. She didn’t like being surprised… and certainly NOT in her own establishment.

“I’d rather not,” the man answer honestly as he looks around, “I got a feeling this is all my fault.” He clears his throat a moment then smiles up at Teek warmly, “Sides it is better here than some of the other places I think. If you don’t mind loud music.”

While the man tried to swiftly change the subject, Teek knew better. Crossing her arms, she narrowed her eyes at him like a mother trying to suss out why a child had chocolate on their face, yet profusely announced their innocence. “Soooo.... How is it you think that whatever is going on is ‘your’ fault, exactly?” The small of stature woman was anything but. No one who truly knew her would mistake the 5 foot woman as being an easy target.

“I know things about people and stuff,” Mord says in kind of an far off, yet completely pathetic voice. “I mean I don’t think it was me directly but you know. I ran into some bad luck and, well, now I am just along for the ride with everyone else I suppose.” He looks around and then back to the short manager. “If you don’t mind, I’d like to stay here.”

While she wasn’t completely comfortable with the stranger there, she figured better keep him close then kick him out and leave him wandering the promenade without escort. “Ok, you can stay. But just till things are settled.” She moved back behind the bar and started cleaning up.

After a few minutes, she lifted a glass and smiled. “Come here to the bar… let’s have a drink before we have to disappear into the back room for ‘our safety’.” She smiled as the helper came out and finished bussing tables to get the dishes done before they headed into the back.

The man in rags, Mord, shuffled up from his seat in the booth and up to the bar, taking a seat. “You know it isn’t so bad. The music and all of that. I hope things are just as interesting in the other parts of the station.” He gave a wave of his hand before opening up to the Manager for reasons unknown to most, “I am pretty sure I caused this you know. Got anything strong? Like scotch?”

He took a breath, “I ran into some hard times. Rough you know, out here. Gotta get creative in how you do business. Sometimes people just don’t want to give you any more credit or come up with ways you can pay ‘em back.”

Teek moved to the back of the bar and came back with a bottle and two glasses, “Andorian Ale…” she said and poured him a glass as well as one for herself. “So are you saying you caused this,” she motioned to the room meaning the music and such, “because of a business deal?” It was idle chat, but if it was business related, she wondered if it was aimed at her, or the station as a whole. And if she could find out, maybe she could help this guy and find a way to make it right.

The man nodded and picked up the ale, sipping it slightly, “Well you know. Not directly.” He looked around and leaned in, whispering to Teek in a conspiratorial voice, “I owed some men some money. I lost their shipment to some pirates so I told them I would help them get it back.”

He looks around and places a tipsy finger to his lips, swearing her to silence, “This was supposed to happen to another freighter, a bigger freighter who was going to dump their ore and we were going to scoop it up!”

Teel frowned. She leaned in and tried to sound a nonchalant as him as she smiled once more and laughed. “So… the accident on the station is so they can boost some insignificant cargo to make up for their loses?” She shook her head. “That’s brilliant… I mean, if that’s what you did. How did you get only half the station to mess up, though. I would think you would have to mess it all up to make it worth it.” She was trying to get him to open up. It was a fascinating story, to be sure, but at the same time, she knew she had the potential to find the reason behind this fiasco.

The man shook his head. “I didn’t do anything here, exactly. Just followed some instructions, because what else was I going to do,” he said glumly before drinking more heavily of the ale. He wasn’t drunk, but he definitely wasn’t sober either.

Teek nodded with sympathy and topped the man’s glass off. “Of course you did. You didn’t have a choice. And after all, what harm could such simple orders do? Right? I mean… If you tell me what orders you followed, I’d certainly reassure you that they had NOTHING to do with what’s happening. And we’ll just sit it out with great drinks and loud music.” She laughed and took another sip of own drink to appear as laid back and jovial as she could.
