There are plenty of blankets and other resources for the medical staff to leverage to try and heat the cold and cool the hot.

Even with the help of Odraavi, the NE’s weight was still heavy on the small ensigns shoulders and she was glad that her life growing up on a farm had given her enough muscle to be able to support his weight comfortably despite her small stature. Even so, it was a relief to set the NE down in the hallway. Whilst the CMO saw to their patient, Aroha went back into the sickbay to gather the blankets as she’d been ordered. As her back turned on the CMO, a brief look of doubt crossed her features, first she was ordered to help move patients, and now she was on blanket duty? It didn’t seem quite right, but as she had to remind herself, now was not the time to be questioning her superiors choice in orders. So she said nothing, and threw herself into grabbing the blankets for the NE.

Some minutes later, after opening the wrong locker twice, in her lack of familiarity with sickbay still, Aroha emerged with a pile of blankets over one arm. In her other hand she had gathered a coulpe of devices that she’d found in the first two lockers. “I found these,” she said holding them up for Odraavi to see better, and almost dropping on in the process, “I’m not an engineer, but I thought these could help possible relieve the temperature situation we seem to have going on around here,”

Ensign TeWhiti
Doctor

Odraavi glanced up from where she had been running a scan over the NE to ensure he was doing all right. Finding that there had been no insane damage from his transport, she nodded to the Ensign, grateful for her willingness to follow what she asked. Searching for blankets was not exactly medicine, but it was just as important to keep these people warm, as it was to make certain all of their ailments were taken care of.

“All right,” She moved to take it from her hand, so the Ensign did not drop them. “Thank you,” She offered, quickly, believing whole heartedly in encouraging the people she worked with. “Let’s get these set up. If someone is in need of assistance, have an NE do it instead, and you see to the patient, aye?”

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

Aroha noded her afirmation, and set right to work. Laying the spare blankets down next to the NE she neatly fashioned him a temporary bed with a couple of them in order to protect him from the chill that laced the hallway. When she was done she scanned him to monter his body temperature, ensuring that he had enough blankets to keep him warm.

Ensign Te Whiti,
Doctor

The NE, an older man to be an officer, rose his head up to the woman who had assisted him to this position. He couldn’t speak well in this state of mind, but there was a soft glimmer of gratitude in his eyes. Nodding to her, he drowsily turned his head, leaning it against the nearest thing he could find, which happened to be a willowy hand. His body temperature, thanks to the blankets, was beginning to rise back to a homeostatic stance.

NE O’Reilly

As they went about trying to regulate the temperature for themselves and their patients, the lights flickered. A moment later, they went out, causing the emergency generators to kick in, though the overall lighting was quite a bit dimmer in treatment areas, and non-existant in non-treatment areas of the Infirmary. the only part of the medical area that had full lights were the operating areas.

~Temp GM

“Great,” Nisihe sighed, rubbing her face in disapproval. “Keep trying to maintain temperature with the patients. Don’t worry about the lights too much. If they are in need of serious examination, we can transport them to areas of greater concentration of light, specifically surgical suites. All right?” She called out to any of the medical officials that were actually listening.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

Aroha paused her monitoring of NE O’Reilly as the lights flickered and went out. She cursed under her breath, before she caught herself mid cuss and stopped, greatful that the NE’s drowsiness had overcome him and he was too fast asleep to hear such vial language spill from her mouth. As for the other staff and patients, she could only hope they were too distracted by the change in lighting situation.

She blinked a couple of times until her eyes because used to the change in lighting, before diligently returning to her duties, and attending to the patient lying next to O’Reilly. The low lighting didn’t bother her much. Growing up on her parents farm, meant that she’d had to perform some primitive vet duties to keep animals stable until a vet was available to look at them in the middle of the night from occasion to occasion. It was the why that bothered her, first the enviromental controls had gone haywire and now the lights were failing, and the fact that there hadn’t been a single engineer to show up and fix it, meant that the issues weren’t localised to Sickbay.

Ensign TeWhiti,
Doctor

“How are we looking, Doctor?” Odraavi approached the opposing woman, a keen eye watching for any sign of struggle or further ailment amongst the other officers gathered in the hallway outside of the Sickbay that seemed to be flooded with enough humidity to make the Amazon rainforest look like a walk in the park, even on the worst of days. Narrowing her gaze, to adjust to the light, she returned t to the young doctor, the question remaining in stance. However, she chose to add to it, knowing the initial had been nothing short of vague. “The patients, I mean. How are they holding up on your end?”

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

“NE O’Reilly’s temperature has regulated to normal sir and he is currently quietly resting.” TeWhiti reported, “And as for yoursef sir, you look good considering…” she cheekily added in at the end, unable to resist the temptation. The corner of her mouth twisted into a half smirk.

“Ensign!” Odraavi flushed at that comment, quickly brushing it away. She found it amusing, the cheekiness of the young ensign. It was a refreshment to the stoicism of many of her comrades in the sickbay, where most found professionalism to be far more important than friendliness. “I cannot say you’re looking half bad yourself, but that is besides the point here.” She smiled, before it disappeared. “As long as we keep O’Reilly wrapped up, he should he okay.”

But the smirk quickly fell away, as the Ensign focused back on the situation at hand. “All the temperature regulating blankets have been distributed amongst the patients. From what I’ve seen, they seem non the worse for it, but sir…” she paused her eyes darting around the room, “It might not be my place to say anything, but no engineer has shown up to take a look at our thermostat controls, and we can’t work in these conditions forever.”

Ensign TeWhiti,
Doctor

“You’re right..” The woman hummed, pressing her hand to the commbadge on her chest, =/\=Odraavi to Operations, is there any inkling of what’s going on? We still don’t have heating in the halls, and the sickbay is a real swamp right now.=/\= There was a slight impatience in her voice, but it was barely noticeable to most.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

=^= We are still trying to figure it out Doctor. It looks like we’ve got some sort of computer virus, with some pirates claiming that they have taken over control of the Starbase. Do what you can Doc, we’ll let you know as soon as we have some more information. =^=

LtCmdr Foley - XO

=/\=Acknowledged, Commander.=/\= Odraavi stifled a sigh, =/\=Sickbay, out.=/\= Pinching the bridge of her nose, she turned back to the Ensign, nodding to her. “I’m sure you heard the man. Let’s hold up as much as we can.”

Sickbay doors whooshed open and a slightly harried Counselor stumbled through the doors.”Wow, its a bit chaotic out there.” She said in way of greeting to the CMO.

“Chaotic? That’ Magellan for you.”

“Commander Foley, sent me down to help. I am Counselor Chandel.” Chandel said as she straightened her uniform as she entered.

Counselor Chandel
OOC: I am going to be going LOA for 10 days but we’ll just say Chandel’s helping you all out here:)

Odraavi, who was standing just inside sickbay, where the heat was almost unbearable for the Betazoid woman, nodded. “Alright. We could really use someone to check in on these guys. Continuous scans, ensuring comfort, checking up on their conditions. Maybe even some cheering up for those who are less on the happy side.” She offered the woman a medical tricorder.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

Accepting the tricorder, Chandel nodded in understanding.”Got it, Doc.” She said as she moved over to the closest patient and did a quick scan as well as checking the readings on the panel above the biobed to see that it coincided with the tricorder readings. She spoke a few comforting words to the patient before moving on to the next.

Counselor Chandel

The young Ensign had retreated back towards her patients, noticing one of them shivering and had gone over to fix their blanket, but as she fluffed about making sure they were comfortable, she kept a ready eye over where the Counsellor and CMO were encase she was needed for any reason. For the most part her patients seemed relatively comfortable and there wasn’t much more she could do for them than keep them comfortable. She tried to keep herself as busy as she could, so that she couldn’t feel the swealtering temperatures of Sickbay, but the warmth was still beginning to get to her and she could feel herself sweating. Back home she was used to the warmer temperatures, but this was warmer again and it was beginning to take its toll. Glancing around however, she saw she wasn’t the only one who was feeling the temperature, so she kept her head down and kept busy hoping that the enviromental controls would be fixed soon.

=^= Ensign Harris to Sickbay be advised I have found a semi conscious female civilian out in the docking ring with a visible head wound on her right skull. We’re between docking port five and six. =^=

Harris, Security

=/\=Are you capable of transporting her to us, or do you require assistance on site?=/\=

Odraavi

Aroha paused in her work straining to hear what was going on over by the CMO, but she wasn’t quite close enough to hear the full conversation and only able to hear snippits of it. Something about a transporter, and that someone was injured… obviously a serious one, if transporters were being discussed. Although whether or not they were reliable with all the malfunctions that seemed to be happening, Aroha couldn’t say. A drip of sweat slid down her face, and she quickly turned back to the scan she’d been taking. Keeping both her eyes and her ears on the CMO to see what she decided to do.

Ensign TeWhiti,
Doctor

OOC: Just fixing up my post, forgot which way around the temperatures went haha.

=^= Doc I’m confident that I can manage triage here then move her to sickbay. I’m checking pulse right now standby=^=

Harris

=^=Don’t try to be a hero, Harris. If you guys cannot manage it, please comm the Sickbay immediately.=^=

Dr. Odraavi

Aroha’s ear’s perked up at the doctors last comm, she’d moved closer now, so she’d been able to hear most of what the doctor had said. She wondered how many patients there were over the ship, and she hoped that there weren’t too many. Sickbay was on top of the patients that they had, but if there were various others around the station and they all came to Sickbay at the same time.. “Umm Miss?” Aroha flicked her head to face the voice, realising her head had started wandering, “Can I have some water please? I’m so thirsty…” the voices owner - a young woman - looked and sounded as partched as she said. Aroha quickly retreived the requested water and as the woman drank Aroha chattered to her, “It’s hot isn’t it? The Enviromental controls out here in the hallway have gone aywire. I’m sure they’ll be returning to normal soon, Dr Odraavi’s sorting it out with Operations now I think…” the Ensign trailed off realising she’d started rambling. The woman nodded and closed her eyes, her hand holding the glass of water dropping.

Aroha quickly caught the glass before it could hit the floor and break, thanking the gods that she still had the reflex’s her brothers had trained into her. Looking at the patient who’d slipped into sleep she’d frowned and took a quick scan of her. Relieved to see that although the womans temperature was high it wasn’t as high as Aroha feared. Until the enviromental controls were back online, Aroha vowed to keep a closer eye on her and if her temperature went up anymore, she’d drag the NE out into the hallway where it was cooler.

“I’m afraid that little boost of cool air in here, and warmth out there, won’t be coming as soon as we had hoped.” There was a sense of disappointment or perhaps displeasure in her voice, as she returned to the young docror, surveying the other patients as she moved about. Kneeling down beside one of the unconscious men, she pressed the back of her hand against his forehead, checking for a fever, in case that might be the cause of his unconsciousness. Discovering he was a bit warm, she pressed her fingers to his neck, checking for his heartrate. Frowning, she glanced over at the female NE TeWhiti had been helping, then back at the new one. “The temperature needs to be fixed fast, before someone dies because of it.”

“Agreed,” Aroha nodded, feeling a little disenhartened that there wasn’t going to be a quick fix solution anytime soon, “But sir, they’ve been given water when they need it, a couple have been doused with ice. I’m not entirely sure what else we can do,”

“Let’s change out the wetrags on everyone here, they’re bound to be mostly perspiration by now. We need to keep a close watch for fevers and elevated heartrates. Just in case one of them is heading towards having a headstroke.” She informed the opposing doctor, keeping her explanations brief, as she went back to checking patients for any signs of heat-related ailments.

Dr. Odraavi
CMO

“Yes sir,” Aroha said sharply, annoyed that she hadn’t thought of the wet rags before. She should have thought of it, but as a bead of sweat trickled down the side of her face she reckoned that the heat must be getting to her too. Ignoring it, she marched over to the replicators and demanded a two buckets of ice cold wet towels. The water sloshed as she moved and ever time a splash landed on her uniform, she releashed the refreshing feel of it. In no time at all she returned to the CMO and handed her a bucket. “Everyone I’ve checked so far have high temperatures, borardline fever but not quite. Not yet…” she trailed off, her eyes darting anywhere but the CMO,”Start with the worst ones?” She asked although she already guessed that the answer would be yes.

She turned back to the NE she had given water to as she was the nearest patient, as Aroha treated her, her eyes opened sleepily, “Thank you,” she whispered. Aroha smiled gently, “We’re doing all that we can, just let me know if you needthing okay.” she promised. Wishing that there was more she could do.

OOC: You all seem to have this thread well in hand. Is there any support you need from me at this time? I may have missed something as I was catching up.
