=/\=Looking good, Commander. We’re fully switched over to the Secondary Core and I’m just disconnecting the Primary Core. Once we’ve isolated the issues in the Primary, we can switch back, but for now we’re safe to handle essential operations on the Secondary. I would caution you to restrict non-essential systems like holodeck and what not for now though.=/\=

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

Briony felt satisfied that her confidence in Lt. Rendana was rewarded. Systems came up easily on the secondary core. “Don’t engage shields or weapons just yet. I don’t want to spook them. With all systems now online, lets redo the trace and hopefully we will get it much faster. As soon as they are found, let me know.”

Briony, CO

“Yes Captain.”

=^= Keep us informed Lieutenant. We’ll keep the non-essential systems powered down for now, and we are going to keep the weapons and shields powered down for now. =^=

=/\=Got it, Commander. I’ll be sure that power is available for those systems as a priority draw, just in case. I’m going to work on isolating the issues in the Primary Core and update you if I find anything. Rendana out.=/\=

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

With in a couple of minutes the sinister duo “called back”, the blinking light on coms having been activated once more.

GM Wombat

“Captain, they are hailing us. I’m starting the trace, do you want to continue your discussions? Keeping them on the line will speed up triangulating their location.”

LtCmdr Foley - XO

=^= Harris to Ops. Be advised docking ring power has been restored. I recommend we resume normal docking procedures.=^=

Harris, Security

=/\= Ops to Harris, hold off on docking any further ships. We are still in the middle of the situation even though we have restored power.=/\=

She turned to Foley, rolled her shoulders and smiled like a cat who had the mouse within reach. “Yes Commander, give it 30 seconds and then let us respond to them. I want everyone to look harried and like we are still in trouble.”

“Yes Captain.”

She turned back in her seat, pulled out some hairs at her temple to dishevel herself and positioned herself in a slump, with a data PaDD in her hand and a confused and sad look on her face. Everyone present on the Bridge would know it was an act. As soon as the screen was lit up with the two gentleman, she started as though she was in the middle of a conversation with someone on the lower level. “Really? That bad? Couldn’t we just… I don’t know… restar…” She looked up started, breathed heavily as though she had been caught doing something she shouldn’t and plastered on a winning smile.

“Oh my! Hello. I thought we were having trouble with our communications as well as everything else. Goodness me.”

Briony, CO

The first figure reached up and scratched at his jaw before he responded to the disheveled captain. “Sorry about that. Didn’t think our little, uh, hostage taker would affect communications. Gonna have to check that out for next time,” he said before leaning in slightly then leaning back. “Anyway, where were we? Oh yeah. You were going to give us coordinates to pick up all your unrefined ore and we were gonna give you back control of your station.”

The second figure, still lurking mostly off screen said something in a hushed tone before the first said, “Oh yeah and no funny business! We aren’t afraid to hurt your crew if our demands aren’t met!”

GM Wombat

TJ seated himself at the engineering console. He was waiting for the instructions from his chief on what he needed to do to fix the situation.

Rivers-Eng

Aason started the trace again, hoping that they would finally be able to nail down where the freighter was. As he watched the trace run, he motioned for Rivers to come over towards him.

LtCmdr. Foley - XO

TJ came forward. He wasn’t sure why he was wanted but, he was up there for whatever engineering needs there were.

“Oh well,” She pulled up a PaDD. “According to Star Fleet Regulation in Terrorism and Violence Against a Starbase Section 115 Bylines 2155 and 2156, I am to ask you some questions to make sure that I understand the situation. Then I can send you the coordinates. Ummm, let’s see here.”

“1. Are you putting the Starbase in significant danger?” She paused and then frowned, “Well of course you are. Don’t answer that one. That’s silly, don’t you agree?”

“2. What are your demands? Well you have answered that one. I really am late to this information aren’t I?”

“3. Ohhhh this is a good one. How exactly are the crew in danger? Since you gave me that threat, it shouldn’t be a problem to give us the exact nature of the danger my crew is in should I not provide you with the coordinates.”

Briony, CO

The man on the other end spoke off camera with his partner before answering the question, “Oh yes well uh we can, you know, do bad things to you like shut off your gravity! Or turn up the temperature.” He shifted uncomfortably for a moment then said, “I don’t like this… Just bring the ore to the coordinates we send you. No funny business or… we’ll do something you’ll regret!”

With that the comm went dead, but not before the trace finished. An asteroid cluster not too far away seemed to be hiding the nefarious pirates.

GM Wombat

“Got it!” Aaron said right after the comm’s shut off. “I was able to complete the trace right before the comm shut off. Coordinates are pointing to a nearby asteroid cluster.”

Aaron pulled up the coordinates on the map of the region, and put it up on one of the viewscreens. He also placed the rendezvous coordinates on the screen, trying to see how close they were. Maybe they had accomplices out there.

LtCmdr Foley - XO

The rendezvous spot was in the same cluster, near the edge. It was one of the smartest things they had done so far. It would allow the pirates to get the booty and then flee into the interior, making pursuit by a ship of any size difficult. Not impossible, but challenging at least.

GM Wombat

While TJ was helping the XO, a text message from Rendana came in for him.

||Rivers, I have set of erroneous data from the Level 1 diagnostic that needs sifting through and could use a second set of eyes. Let me know if you aren’t immediately occupied. ~AR||

~Super~TJ thought. Just like R&D duty again. Find the faults. That was always fun. “Give me a few minutes and I can help.’

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

She grimaced as she looked at the map. “Well that is unhelpful isn’t it. Out of transporter range, tractor beam wouldnt work due to all the asteroids and cant guarantee that our weapons would just disable their vessel?” She looked at Foley for confirmation or suggestions. At this point, she actually wished McMichaels were here. Strategic Operations would have been helpful in planning a successful assault on the pirates in question.

“Go ahead and start getting the Trinidad set up as our rendezvous ship. Hopefully they underestimate it’s ability as much as they have underestimated the Magellan. Foley, you want to take her for a spin?” Briony offered her new XO.

Briony, CO

Rivers-Ops

“Always up for it Captain. We can rig up the Trinidad to look like it is carrying ore, make them think we are actually doing what they ask.”

Aaron came up around the console towards the Captain. “I’ll go ahead and get the Trinidad ready to head out. Do you mind if I take a few of the marines with, just in case?”

LtCmdr Foley - XO
