“Well I certainly don’t want you to do things outside your power.” Rinker smirked. Briony conditioned her promise because she didn’t want to lie, well it was nice to know that she worried that much about her word to him.

Rinker pulled away and went back to his packing, “If I finish up quick, We still will have a three hour window for a good bye.”

SHe flashed a grin, watching him pack away his things, trying not to think about the end being so soon. When she had first come on board the Atlantis, she had been young enough and hurt enough in love that she had chosen to remain single despite having had plenty of options. As Captain, her options had been limited. Somehow, the counselor had cracked through and she couldn’t be happier about it. Their life together had been and would always be complicated, but their communication was excellent and they worked it out well. They worked together to come to understanding. So few relationships really did that.

“Well, the sooner you get packed… the sooner I can show you exactly what is within my power.” Briony wiggled her brows and laughed.

‘Promises, promises, Captain. You know I like holding you to them.” He turned back to give her a brief kiss on the lips, “Best not to get distracted so that we can maximize time.”

Briony pouted but only for a moment. The kiss was sufficient to mollify her for now. She knew when he was gone, she would have time to feel the sadness that was welling up inside her at the thought of him not being near.

“I need a few new pictures for my holo frame.” Rinker commented absently as he returned to his packing. “It had been a long time since I have been able to update it. I only have the old ones from our vacation and that little holodeck mystery set in the 1800s.” He raised both eyebrows, “nothing too exciting. I do keep it on my office desk.” Although his tone did not seem like he was totally against something he could hold closer to his heart.

She thought about this request, tilting her head to one side and pursing her lips. She had not known he had pictures of their first real interaction together on the Holodeck. It shouldn’t have surprised her. Heathcliff was a romantic and he had somehow known how he felt early on in their relationship. She was always one step behind, a major departure from so much of her life especially her professional one. “I will endeavor to send you new ones then.” She said with a half smile. “As long as you send me those pictures you have and some new ones yourself.”

OOC: If she had to know how, he went back after the program and had the holodeck recreate particular times and send the data to a 3d frame. Particularly the times where they were walking arm in arm.

“Ohh, send me,” He perked up a bit. “I was thinking about taking a few before I leave, but the sending… that’s good too… gives us room to be creative.” He held his hand at his neck. “Crop out the head… always crop out the head.”

She laughed. Cliff could always make her laugh, even when she was often the most stoic person around. “I love your face. I love your body. I love everything so I will crop out nothing.”

He chuckled slightly to himself, more over the thought she would want any picture of him… Briony was fitness model beautiful, and while Rinker found himself reasonably attractive when he paid attention to his diet… they were pushing the 3 point rule… where your partner could only be two points higher than you or you were destined to break up.

It was a good thing Briony never cared much about made up societal rules about who she could be with and not be with. There was never a time where she considered what society might think. However, she did consider what proprieties needed to be upheld concerning who a Captain gets into a relationship with. It had been one of the main reasons she had been reluctant to date Heathcliff in the first place. He had shown her however, that they could make it work and she had fallen in love with him, reluctant as it might have been.

“I didn’t tell you, I have one more present for you in the shuttle… Its not really a new present.. its a re-gift.”

Rinker

“Oh? Well then, finish your packing. Lets take some pictures of us together and happy, then we can take you to the shuttle. Your new Captain must be missing you.” She tried to keep her tone uplifting and nonchalant, but she couldn’t keep a bit of sadness and bitter out of her voice.

It was funny, Rinker felt the heaviness of the pending departure, but the sadness hadn’t hit yet. He still was happy having found her and being with her these few days. It had been a year and every moment of this week had as full as he could make it of being close to her and committing things to his memory.

As he worked on his packing, she stood and got dressed. She couldn’t very well walk around wearing nothing but a sheet to take him to his shuttle. Amusing as the thought might be for some, it wasn’t her style.

Rinker quickly finished his packing. He planned on taking a few pictures but, his first urges weren’t to get to a holodeck to find a nice setting, or the arboretum for some nature. “I just put all my clothes away. ” He shrugged. “I’m not sure how many pictures we can take here.”

She blinked, obviously confused. “As many as you wish? It’s my personal quarters, but I don’t have anything classified here.”
