Kelly kept the others in a calm head space as they felt the shifting of the crate and the ship. They made jokes and jabbed at one another, though always in hushed tones as if already where they were heading. She glanced at the chrono on her suit and smiled. It was nice to be doing something besides wandering the halls of the station. Not that it wasn’t a job she did any less than her position demanded, but it was nice to be doing something ‘else’.

“Alright guys, lets get ready, boots on the ground follow Commander’s lead and let’s show them why the keep us around.” Ashley said as she prepared her thoughts of what was coming next.

The cargo containers were cramped and dark. Perhaps some of the marines were getting restless as the time ticked down, away from the comfort and security of the Trinidad and the Magellan. It didn’t matter though, not in the long run. With about fifteen minutes of air to spare the marines felt themselves move. The crates were jostled and voices heard outside.

Whoever the pirates were, they were lifted out of the drop zone by cables, not by transporters.

Ashley felt the jostling as she narrowed her eyes. She wasn’t liking this, it was going as they planned. Still, their training made them prepare for anything, including things they didn’t plan for. Looking over at Lt Pippin Captain Williams nodded towards her. Looking down she pulled out a tricorder, setting it to a low energy setting in case they were tracking them she set a small pulse to see if she could pick up what was going beyond the container walls.

On the bridge of the Trinidad Aaron kept an eye on the containers.

“Commander, they’ve grappled the containers.”

“Good, turn… Wait, grappled?”

“Yes sir. They didn’t transport the containers on. They used a cable and dragged them in.”

“Well that complicates things,” Aaron muttered. “Helm slow to a quarter impulse. Have they pulled in the containers yet?”

“Yes Commander.”

“Set a 5 minute timer. Then come around, full impulse. We need to get back to our marines.”

“Yes sir!”

LtCmdr. Foley - XO

Outside the container walls there were some people, possibly three or four. On low setting it was hard to determine through the thick walls of the container. There was a kick and a shudder as they were all piled into some sort of storage room. Then there was silence.

For the Trinidad, when she pulled full around there it was, the shadow had moved and a small, old, cargo ship was drifting silently back from the dead drop into the interior.

GM Wombat

“I’ve got a cargo ship on sensors Commander,” the science officer said as the Trinidad came around.

“Helm, set an intercept course for that cargo ship,” Aaron said as he turned towards the science officer. “Broad spectrum sensor sweep now. I need to know if there are any other ships out there, and that this isn’t a trap.”

LtCmdr. Foley - XO

Kelly nodded to the CO as she lit up the tricorder. The grappling, and subsequent swaying, made everyone stick out their hands for balance. Thanks to great training, they were calm and balanced without any offset, thumping or gasps that would give away their hiding inside. She whispered low enough it wouldn’t carry beyond the small group. “We are being moved, not transported. Everyone watch your weapons and your balance. We can’t afford to be found out too soon.” She glanced at the CO to see if she was getting any useful readings thru the container walls.

The XO’s orders were carried out post haste. In this environment it was hard to determine if there was anyone else lurking about, but for the most part this ship was the only one there. It appeared to be older, poorly maintained, and definitely not outfitted to be anything other than a cargo transport.

GM Wombat

“Commander, we aren’t picking up any other ships in the area. And the ship does not look like it is doing that well. Best guess there is minimum weapons and shields.”

“How long to intercept? And prepare to lock on a tractor beam.”

LtCmdr. Foley - XO

“I’m get a few life signs, can’t tell how many without risk of alerting presence but it’s around four, maybe more. We may need to make our presence known eventually, before we do that I want more detailed scans… if we have to tip or hands might as well do it with as much intel as possible.”
