Good afternoon everyone.

It is with great sorrow that I announce I am stepping down as Captain of the Magellan. Life has been super hectic the last two months. My godchild and her mother are living with us until September, my best friend moved in last week, she is pregnant and due in October and my husband is out of a job. All of this equals quite a lot of stress for me and chaos in the home which is not conducive to posting.

I could reenergize and try to get really back into the thick of it, but I also realize that I start school in the fall for my bachelors after 17 years. I know this will be a significant drain on my time and mental energy and I cannot predict what it will take for me to do everything and stay active in the club. So I am stepping down so that a Captain can be found who can put more time and energy into this wonderful Starbase.

This isn’t right away, mind. I am staying on for a bit until they find another Captain. That may take some time and I don’t want to leave y’all hanging. I hope you all don’t judge me too harshly. Its been a whirlwind. May you enjoy your new Captain.

Amber, you will be greatly missed but what an exciting time for you going back to school! I wish you all the best in your classes and getting your BA and hope we will still get the chance to see you about. Have a great summer!

Magellan Crew: I wanted to assure you that Andy and I will be working with Amber to find the right replacement of CO for the base. I will be putting out the advertisement for a CO soon and will be accepting applications until June 12th I believe, since Amber said she’s willing to hang on to assist the new CO in settling in. If all of you are able to be as active as you can this will help us a lot too!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re going through so much stress in real life! Hopefully things start to get better. The best of luck to you in returning to school! Getting your bachelor’s degree, at any age, isn’t easy–but it take a lot of courage to go after it 17 years later! It’s sad to see you go; you’ve done such a great job with the Magellan and Briony was a delight to read about!
