Kate gave Harris a curious look but didn’t say anything as she trailed after him up to the counter. Her eyes flicked around the shop as she waited to see what was going to develop from this encounter.

Lt Trent, SOO

The shop was obviously just being put together, and there was a delay after the knock before a door in the back of the store opened and a middle-aged human man in a very expensive looking suit came out. He was average in height, but his build was that of someone who exercised both regularly and intensely. Salt and pepper hair, cut short and in a military style, covered his head and bright blue eyes looked at the two individuals, obviously taking in details in a practiced and efficient fashion. His glance feel upon Harris and and a small smile crossed his lips briefly.

The expensive suit contrasted dramatically to the tidy Starfleet uniform that Kate wore, her long, brown hair neatly secured in a braid tucked up off her collar. The slightly boxy cut of the uniform did little to emphasize her frame, simply revealing it to be trim and athletic. Her height was just above average, boots with a slight heel granting her an extra inch.

He extended his right hand, which was cybernetic and, oddly, not covered in synthetic skin or a glove; as was more common with people with cybernetic appendages. The shiny metal was obviously polished to a high degree.”Ah. I see that Star Fleet has deigned to grace me with their presence. Lieutenant Trent, Lieutenant JG Harris. Micah Pikelsimer, at your service. Welcome to my shop. So what can an old merchant do for you all today?”

Pikelsimer, Trader

A bemused expression came over Kate’s features as she took her turn studying the incomplete shop and its proprietor. While she was clearly at a disadvantage in the situation since she had no background information on Pikelsimer, her piercing, intelligent blue eyes carefully noted each detail of the man in turn. She reached out confidently to grasp his cybernetic hand, showing no reaction to the unexpected lack of a limb, and shook it firmly before dropping her hand back to her side. “Lieutenant Harris was just showing me around,” she began, her voice surprisingly soft but self-assured. “What do you plan to sell here?” She slowly spun around to view the fixtures around her once more, curiosity evident.

Lt Trent, SOO

Braxton nodded and looked at Micah suspiciously. “Indeed. I’m head of Security on this installation. I too would like to know what you’re selling and your manifest if you please.”

Harris, CoS

Kate’s attention snapped to Harris. Even though he included the word “please”, she couldn’t help but feel that perhaps a softer touch would be helpful. She opened her mouth to comment, but quickly shut it again, not wanting to step into the COS’ business quite yet. Her fingers curled by her side silently instead as her eyes flicked back to Pikelsimer to hear his response and, more importantly, see his reaction.

Pikelsimer chukled and smiled broadly. “Always the sticklers, Fleet Security is.” and he moved behind a newly installed counter and reached below it. Slowly coming up with a PaDD, he handed it to the Security Chief.

On the device was a Federation approved manifest and license for one Micah Pikelsimer to buy and sell a wide variety of materials; including art, construction materials, food and foodstuffs, engineered goods, textiles, mining equipment, and various other odds and ends. It was uncommon for a license to carry such a wide variety of materials, but not unheard of. The only thing that seemed even remotely out of the ordinary was that there was a specific point of contact for questions regarding the license.

Pikelsimer looked at Trent and said “I do apologize for the condition of the shop. I just moved in, and I have to say that the efficiency of the engineering staff is a bit… lacking. But I should up and running in the next day or so.” and he looked back at Harris. “I trust everything is in order? I tried to have a meeting with your new Commanding Officer earlier, but I don’t think he liked me very much.” he said with a smile that was only made slightly less sincere by the slight gleam in his eye at the mention of the CO.

Pikelsimer, Trader

Kate stifled a laugh at Pikelsimer’s analysis of his attempted meeting with the CO of the starbase. Chewing lightly on the inside of her lip to aid in her attempt to keep her amusement under control, she nodded and then offered a small shrug. “No judgment here. I’m new and Lieutenant Harris was showing me around,” she said, pausing for a moment to allow her eyes to sweep over the trader once again. “I guess we’ll just have to come back in the next day or so…” she added, mimicking Pikelsimer’s words with slight merriment in her eyes as her voice trailed off.

Lt Trent, SOO

“Why the need to carry a large variety of items?” Looking at Micah curiously.

Harris, CoS

“Well, you never know who will need what Lieutenant.” Pikelsimer said nonchalantly, as if the question were asked every day. A diverse portfolio allows me the opportunity to not only meet my client’s expectations and needs, but to surpass them. In doing that; I generate more interest, provide exceptional customer service, retain clients, and garner new ones.” and he shrugged. “The circle of life, according to modern business principals.” he added with a small chuckle.
