Alston hated customs agents, they always seemed to be rather full of themselves. And they were partially right, they had all of the power at the checkpoint. If you wanted in, you had to get past them. Well.... most of the time at least.

This time though, he was here on legitimate business. And hopefully it would lead to more business opportunities in this area too, so it was worth playing nice with them, for now. If they saw him coming and going enough, and started to think of him as a regular, they would be less likely to look as closely at what he was carrying. Either that or they would be more willing to look the other way, for a small incentive of course.

He was in it for the long game. He had a few employers who were operating in the area, and had rumors of some good money available around here. That and things had started to heat up a bit too much back by the Cardassian border, a couple to many close calls for his liking. So what better place to go then the other side of the Federation. That and the fact that any transports had to fly past Romulan and Klingon space, limited the number of people willing to make the trip. It seemed like the perfect place to set-up shop for a bit.

Stepping into Mystique he looked around. He had heard that Starfleet had been pouring some money into this starbase, but he hoped it wasn’t to far off the beaten path that he couldn’t at least get a decent drink.

After making sure his storefront and its… backroom infrastructure… was set up and working and his cargo had been secured properly, Pikelsimer decided it was time to scope out the station and get a lay of the land as it were. So, still in the suit he arrived in but still very slick, he walked into the Mystique Club.

There was a decent crowd gathered, and the place was lively. Pikelsimer made his way to the bar and ordered a glass of Denobulan cognac… very tasty and very expensive. The bartender looked at the man and said “Sure, but for that we need payment up front.” Pikelsimer simply nodded once and reached inside his jacket and produced a single bar of gold-pressed latinum. “I’ll start a tab. Plan on being here on the station for a while. That work?” The bartender looked a bit wide-eyed at the payment, but hustled away to get the requested beverage. Micah turned his back to the bar and leaned back, surveying the scene before him.

From the corner of his eye, a familiar face caused Pikelsimer’s brown to scowl. “Great. Of course this would happen first thing.” he thought to himself.

Pikelsimer, Businessman

As he looked around, Alston spotted a familiar face at the bar, and had to stop himself from walking out right then and there. Shoot. The farthest corner of the Federation, and HE was here.

Calm yourself Alston, he thought to himself, it’s going to be fine. He doesn’t know why you are here, and you don’t have anything on you right now to get you in trouble. Not to mention, he probably wasn’t looking forward to seeing a familiar face, especially the way he’s dressed. Alston couldn’t remember if he’d ever seen him dressed in a suit like that before.

One thing was sure, he needed to find out why he was here. And maybe get a free drink out of it in the meantime.

Walking up to the bar, Alston leaned against it next to Micah. “Whiskey on the rocks,” he said as the bartender walked over, “and put it on my friends tab here.” He turned to look at Micah, “It’s good to see you again Mr…”

Pikelsimer looked at the bartender and said “His tab is his own until I say otherwise.” and he turned to the man who had tried to insinuate himself into Micah’s tab. He looked the man up and down, a look of obvious recognition in his eyes. “Mace. Good to see you. I’m hurt you don’t remember. Pikelsimer. Micah Pikelsimer. But I’m sure in your advancing years the memory isn’t what it used to be.” and he held out his right hand, the metal shiny in the lights of the club.

“I am surprised to see you here. I think the last time I saw you, you were shooting at me while I was trying to…” and he looked Alston straight in the eye and gave him a look that said ‘Pay attention’, “… collect payment from a derelict client. That was what? Year and a half ago?”

Alston laughed as he grabbed Micah’s hand. “Trust me, I couldn’t forget your face as you were ducking behind those barrels. ” He motioned to the bartender to still bring him his drink. Taking it in hand he took a sip. “I’m not completely heartless Pikelsimer. In those fancy clothes of yours, who knows which client you were working for or chasing. I’m all for a little fun, but there are certain secrets that are a mans to keep…”

Pikelsimer nodded in acknowledgement that, at least for now, they had an understanding.

“My client was not happy with you showing up that time,” he said before finishing off the whiskey and motioned for another. “You aren’t here chasing another one of my clients are by chance are you?”

Alston Mace - Trader

“Well, give me your client list and I will let you know.” Pikelsimer said with a slight grin.

Alston just laughed as he grabbed the new glass from the bartender. “You only wished it was that easy.”

“No. Actually, I have decided to expand my operational area a bit. I’m thinking about setting up shop here. There are always… collectors… looking for unique pieces out this way. And as our mutual acquaintance can attest to… I do have quite a selection. By the way, I heard through the grapevine that he got arrested not long after you left his service. That right?” Pikelsimer asked innocently, knowing full well it was true.

“But not before he paid up,” Alston said raising his glass. “Though serves him right for going cheap on me and going with the low bidder. Every time they go for the low bidder it never goes well.

“So is this little operation of yours all about looking and not touching? Or are you coming to the fun side of the line for a bit?” Not that he would trust him farther then he could throw him. But he definitely knew how to handle himself, which could come in handy.

Pikelsimer looked squarely at him and said “I’m in it for the cash. How that happens to come across… well, I can be a bit flexible with regards to revenue streams.”

Alston nodded. He was going to have to keep an eye on Micah no matter what though, once a law man, always a law man. You didn’t go into that sort of business without some sort of morals, and those didn’t just go away.

Teek finished her next supply run order and turned off her console. Stretching a moment she then headed out into the main club. It was starting to fill up and her smile was genuine as she waved to regulars and greeted new faces.

She moved behind the bar and nodded to the tender before pouring herself a glass of wine and taking a sip. She made her way down the bar. Adding a refill for this one, ordering her signature chocolate cake for that one. A few moments later she came you the chatting pair.

Seeing her now empty glass in the sink meant, she smiled and need to them at a conversation lull. “You gentlemen doin’ ok? Can I get either of you a refill?” Her sea blue eyes shone in the club lights as her brunette hair, pulled back in a loose braid, lightly framed get friendly face. There was nothing on her showing rank or station in the club. Her deep sapphire tunic top scented her eyes. If they bothered to look, she had black leggings tucked into soft brown calf high boots. No more or less dressed up than the scattering of bartenders and servers in the establishment.

Micah looked at the speaker and nodded. “A refill sounds good. And one for my friend here, if you please. And if you are able to partake, you are welcome to join us Ms…?” and his voice trailed off with the question.

Pikelsimer, Trader

“Yes, please join us. It’s either that, or I have to keep looking at his ugly face,” Alston said with a chuckle as he sipped at his drink.
