Kalika nodded. “And as much as I hate to say it, double locks. Meaning it takes two to run a transport, shuttle or open a weapons locker. I think each of us in room should pick a second person to double up on codes with. I don’t want any one person going off half cocked. And we can’t assume because we are usually the level headed ones, that it would be so in the nebula. Any objections?” She glanced first to the CO then to the others in the room.

“That sounds good to me.” Mike said, nodding his head. It was better to prepair too much for this then not enough. If they remained on their toes, they would figure this >>>in no time.

The captain shook her head “no but i think everyone should pair up for the duration of this mission even when not in duty.”

Ravenfall, CO

“Because of our access levels, the Captain & I should not be paired together,” Nevin said, “Call me paranoid, but us not being paired together would inherrently add the extra level of protection onto extremely sensitive systems, such as the auto-destruct…” Nevin stopped suddenly and glanced over his shoulder, convinced he saw movements in the shadows. He dismissed the thought as an illusion caused by the shadows from the glow and the passing starfield before finishing his sentance… “I’m sure we would all feel safer knowing it will take four individuals to activate it.”

“Perhaps cross-pairing with personnel that typically do not have access to specific areas would be beneficial? For instance, Science and Medical tend to work together and our access tend to overlap somewhat, and we are at least passingly familiar with our work areas. So do not pair us together, but utilize personnel who may not be as familiar with the particulars of sensitive areas.”

Sanx, CSO

“Sounds like a good precation. We don’t want to blow ourselves up. For the duration of this mission, perhaps it would be wise to have multiple backups. Just in case one pair is somehow not able to act. Engineering and Medical can be paired and Science with Security. I think we get the least overlapping this way. I think a few ensigns we trust can be selected to have a bit more access then normaly. A temporary Chief of department of sorts. Just because we’re senior crew doesn’t mean we’ll be imune to halucinations, or what ever is out there. I know I’d be glad to know, there’s someone capable to act as CE if I can’t for some reason.”

Mike already had a person in mind he would trust with taking over for him.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

“If this - ” and Sanx pointed at the crystal, “- is from the nebula, I want to start studying it immediately. Maybe it will hold some answers for us on how to combat the reported difficulties.”

Sanx, CSO

“I’m to understand that this crystal is going to help us navigate this Nebula. It would be nice to know how it works, just try not to break it” Peter said in a fully serious manner although something in the tone suggested he might be joking.

Kalika nodded. The cross sectioning was a good idea as was making sure there was a ‘second’ in place in each section. “Ok, I recommend Stone with the XO and myself with the CO for now. Peter, you and Sanx pair up. I’m sure everyone can see to it that their stations are buddied up with appropriate counterparts. I’m also setting security in major areas with orders to get back up approval on all activity. From shuttle use to weapons firing. So everyone keep in contact.” She knew this probably seemed extreme, so she added. “It’s merely because I don’t want one of us ‘taken over’ and pulling one of those ‘I’m your superior officer and will throw you in the brig if you don’t mind me’ kind of thing.” She laughed, but then her own vision caught something in the shadows that made her head turn a moment. She glanced back at the others then at the crystal and sighed. “And I agree… let’s try not to break the thing....”

“I also think also someone needs to be partnered with Captain Nakuto. With her recent return to the Viking, and not being 100% I don’t want to take any chances.”

She may not know Kara as well as the others in this room, but she was a part of her crew, her family, even if she didn’t realize it yet. Viktoryia would go to Hell and back to keep them safe.

Ravenfall, CO

Kalika sighed and looked around the room trying to think who to put Kara with. “I would say put her with you and I, Ma’am.” She held her hand up to silence any objection. “I just mean till we find someone we can agree to put her with. Unless someone has a suggestion.” She glanced around wondering if there was someone she was missing that could take Kara on a security partner.

It occurred to her then, “How about the CMO take partnership with Kara? Would that be acceptable to everyone?” She glanced around the room to make sure she wasn’t making a bad pairing in any of her choices.

“She definately knows her way around the ship, but since her dissapearance I think all her access codes got revoked. She’s basicly just a civilian at this moment. ” Mike commented. He wondered how most of the crew saw her or what role Kara would like to have on the ship.
