Sanx walked into the lab after the mission briefing and set the crystal in a specimen exam field. He then said to the room as a whole “Ok, everyone. Stop what you are doing. This -” and he pointed to the crystal, “- takes priority. Full workup. In-depth spectrum analysis, structure modeling, energy readings, radiation, sub-atomic anomalies… the works. We need to get this done as quickly and accurately as we can. When we reach the nebula, this is supposed to help us… somehow. Questions?”

Sanx, CSO

OOC: Is this set before we reach the nebula? Just want to check the timeline as T’Shura is on the Bridge in the Main Sim Bridge line. :)

Krys

OOC; Yes. It was said in the briefing that the XO and CO wanted to know how the crystal worked before we arrived. So here we go!

T’Shura turned and looked at the crystal in the CSO’s hand, her curiosity piqued. Studying crystal formations was definitely her forte as a it was involved in planetary science. Planetary science involved studying all the aspects of a planet’s formation which had to do with both the structural elements and the forces inherent in the creation thereof. She moved over to the large shared console where a specimen could be placed and various studies done on it.

“I can take the spectrum and structural analysis.” She said as her fingers flew over the board to set up the parameters for the study. She knew that in the formations of crystals that various chemicals were responsible both for the formation of their facets and color. So breaking down the elements of the chemicals involved would both tell what it was formed of and what forces were used in that formation.

Sanx smiled and said “Excellent. Compare to all known crystalline structures and see if we can get a base-line on it’s atomic structure. It did exhibit a strange visual sign and light-manipulation property while we win the briefing. I’ll check photonic emissions and absorption rates.” and he began programming the scanners to do just that.

Mike hasn’t visited the science lab in a while. Last time it was when a power surge blew out all the lights in the section and every engineer came to help replace them over two months ago.
This time it was curiosity that led him here.

“Hi, Lieutenant Sanx. Any progress already on that crystal analysis?” He said, then came a bit closer to where the crystal was placed. “I hardly saw it in the ready room, so I guess I came here to take a better look, and see if you need anything.”

As Mike stared at the crystal, his mind became for a moment compleately blank and he overheard what Sanx said.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Sanx looked at Stone as he came in. “I see your curiosity is a great as mine, Lieutenant. If you are free and want to assist in the examination, I would happily take your perspective into what this is and how it is supposed to ‘guide’ us through the nebula.”

Sanx, CSO

“Huh, what?” Mike said, finally breaking his gaze from the crystal. “Yeah, if you need my help i’ll gladly help you. Just tell me what you need. I take it you already compared it’s structure to our database?

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Sanx smiled and said “Doing so now. And looking at energy fields, photonic emissions or absorption, full spectrum analysis, and structural model. What else do you think?” he asked. Sanx was never one to think he knew everything, and the opinions of others mattered to him.

Sanx, CSO

“I can think of only stress tests, but somehow I don’t think it’s a good idea to damage the crystal in any way. We might get in trouble for doing that.” Mike said. He had to admit that Sanx already though of everything and he had little to add. “We have a large database of all known matter. There should be something in there about what he got here.”

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

“I have been running what we know with the database, Lieutenant. There seems to be a lagtime associated with garnering results though. Perhaps due to so many requests being put to it at this time.” T’Shura said from her side of the table.

OOC: We are waiting on Josh’s return and his response here.

T’Shura Sci

OOC: My apologies, somehow I completely overlooked this thread. Ashamed face

IC: For all intents and purposes, the crystal seemed to not exist to sensors. It held physical structure, could be touched and seen. It had a shine like it was lit internally, yet there was no thermal nor energy signatures from it itself. The only test that showed any success rate was when the crystal was near a person it glowed brighter.

T’Shura frowned.”It is not reading on any of the sensors, sir. Perhaps if lesser known radiation is used, it may give us something.” She was clearly perplexed.

T’Shura Sci

Sanx frowned. “Odd. Check chroniton emissions and absorption rates. Maybe it’s temporally compromised?” he said as a question and suggestion to those present.

Sanx, CSO

“Possibly,” T’Shura murmured as she typed in the parameters of the scan to try to detect chronitons and absorption rates.

T’Shura Sci

OOC: I am away for 10 days but feel free to use T’Shura if you need too:)

Mike wasn’t that suprised at the findings. “I guess I better call a few of the engineers in here. Your scanners are probably broken. Maybe it’s just not accessing the database correctly, and because of that it returns a blank.”

He pulled his tricorder from the belt. Although much more basic then the ship’s scanners it should at least give a rough estimate of what it’s made of.

“Umm....” He began, a bit perplexed, “..nothing shows up on tricorder as well. And it’s been working flawles up until now.” He turned around and scanned the walls and ceiling. Those registered without any hint of mistake.

“Quite a mistery indeed. Must be something we’re compleately unfamiliar with.” He said at last.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

Sanx looked at the CE and said “Well, I suggest we get familiar with it fast. That is supposed to help us navigate the nebula. If we don’t know how it works, we will be at a serious disadvantage.”

Sanx, CSO

OOC: GM, any word on the chroniton readings?

“I’ve gotten a message from the bridge to attend the away team, sir.” T’Shura said as a text message came over her console.

T’Shura Sci
OOC: Just catching up to the bridge thread:)

Sanx nodded and said “We will be here if you need our assistance. Be careful, please.” and nodded to her to begin her preparations to depart.
