Stone returned to his department after paying the labs a little visit. Let the nerds figure it out, why the crystal isn’t showing on any scans. He had a more pressing matters to attend to.
“Ok, listen up, people. As you know we’re aproaching the nebula that is a known ship graveyard. Viking might be limping but I don’t want to join the other ships just yet. Warp core, shields and engines. I want those three operational every second of our stay in this part of the quadrant! Understood?”
“Yes, Sir.” Boomed the reply from engineers.
Stone started to give his engineers tasks to do. By his experiance, if you say to a group of people something needs to be done, but don’t assign who’s in charge of what, everyone just starts to think, someone else is monitoring what they aren’t and soon you have a mess and holes in your defence.
Since the nebula was known to confuse people, he assigned at least two people to each task, but didn’t tell them. He hoped not too many people will be affected, but there was no way to know.
“Tin foil… perhaps we should wrap tin foil around our heads?” He asked himself.
