Choosing to ignore the growing sense of trepidation in her own gut, Kara focussed wholly on the requirements of their mission and her position within it.
“Attempting to establish a connection now, Sir,” she replied, her hands running over the controls.

Kara Nakuto

“Mmhmm…” her hand on the chair back so she could look out as well. “Mine if I fix her,” Kaylia grinned a bit, her tail standing on end. “Damn she’s beautiful…” Giving a look down at Nevin a moment then back up to the view. She was actually purring in anticipation and everyone on the shuttle could hear it.

  • Ensign Kaylia Strenvale (EO)

“By all means,” Nevin said as he moved out of the way.

-Akorem

T’Shura quietly read the schematics on the Ambassador class as she watched their approach out the side viewport. The Ambassador class was created to replace the aging Excelsior and Constellation classes and was meant as a front line Heavy cruiser. Hence it was an older class ship now though they were still being used after being retrofitted. The Ambassador had 33 decks and usually a crew compliment of 700. Everything should be up graded computer and sensor wise so she didn’t anticipate too much difficulty in familiarizing herself with those systems.

T’Shura Sci

OOC: Attempting to move this along a bit…

IC: A singular chirp from the Naglfar’s control panel signified that dialogue had been established with the digital counterpart of the Ambassador class. As Kara swung their tiny vessel into position, the door to the shuttle bay began to creep open, slowly revealing the inky blackness beyond.

The half-Klingon’s eyes nervously scanned the vacant space before them as if she had somehow acquired the gift of biological night vision. Accustomed to the almost-sentient darkness of the Viking, she fancied she could see shadows darting fore and aft within the Ambassador’s vast and empty bay. But it was merely an illusion borne of the dual onslaught of trepidation and sheer exhaustion…or so she chose to believe.

“Commencing docking now, Sir,” she stated flatly to Akorem, her hands on autopilot as she slid the Naglfar gracefully into the gaping maw of the massive starship. “Prepare for disembarkation in two minutes.”

Kara Nakuto

“Nice work,” Nevin said. His voice didn’t betray his inner feelings. He still was not sure what to expect to find aboard. He felt an intense dread but despite it, was strangely eager to move on and gets his hands on the ships command console…

-Akorem

T’Shura too was feeling a bit of trepidation though hers was more from anticipation for what she might find in the science files aboard this ship. She glanced at the XO to see if he had any final orders.

OOC: Do to my long absence through December I have forgotten what we are doing/looking for here?

T’Shura Sci

Luna waghted patently for orders. She felt nurvus sumthing about this place made her feel on edge.
Ensign Luna

Kalika stood up as they approached and began docking. As they entered the dark bay, she let her hand rest on Kara’s shoulder a moment and give a reassuring squeeze before moving to the door. A small smile and a wink was tossed at Kaylia as she passed her. “I doubt you can keep it. It’s not exactly one of those ‘it can sleep on my bed’ kind of pets.” She laughed and stood at the entry to the shuttle and looked at the ragtag group that she was protecting. She hoped they all listened when it came down to it. The last thing she wanted was everyone taking off different directions to ‘do their thing’.

The had felt the tension in Kara’s shoulders and sympathized. This wasn’t exactly a walk in the park.

Nevin followed and trained his weapon around the room - As he did so the lamp on the end of it lit the area ahead of the weapon. The darkness made the the shuttlebay seem larger than it actually was as the group made their way accross. Once in the corridor, Kalika, Akaba & Nevin would be turning left to head towards a ladder to take them to the bridge whilst Nakuto, T’Shura & Luna would be turning right to make their way towards enginnering in the hopes that the data in at least one of the Flight Data Recorders would have stored enough information to establish what had happened…

-Akorem

OOC: If I’ve missed anyone from the away team, then I apologise, and you can choose which group your character is with. We really could use some response from the GM here. What exactly are we seeing? Do we get to the bridge and / or engineering unhindered?

-Jim

“Aye sir.”T’Shura said with a nod to the XO before glancing toward Luna and Nakuto to see if they were ready. As neither she nor Luna were Engineering she thought it was best to let Nakuto lead. She activated her tricorder and waited.

T’Shura Sci

OOC: I’m going to work on the assumption we got to the bridge unhinderred and try and progress things.

Reira walked out onto the Deck and looked out over the ship, his indigo eyes scanning the area. “I need to go on and access a computer terminal, I might be able to access their records and discover more about what happened here.” He stated, running off to a dark corner of the room and interfacing with the panel directly via his assimilation tubules, using his nanoprobes to directly access the computer.

Reira Akaba (Ensign, Science)

It had been a long climb to the bridge. Nevin had opted not to trust the turbolifts given reports that had filtered out of ship. The bridge appeared to be deserted. It was dimly lit mainly by the soft glow of a handful of consoles and the away team’s torches. Even during night mode, Nevin would have expected more light & sound than was here.

“Ensign, do you you think you could get us a bit more light?” he asked as he cautiously made his way to the centre seat. He sat in it so that we could see the Captain’s console better and enter his own command codes. Given that the Captain’s chair was configured for a left handed officer he wasn’t as speedy as he would have been normal but after a moment a panel on the deck bleeped and slid sideways to reveal the Flight data recorder.

The screen on the panel simply showed the stardate & time. There was also a small plastic cover to protect the download port…

“This seems a little too easy,” he said.

-Akorem

The stardate and time showing on the screen slowly started moving backwards. Counting down as it grew faster and brighter before blindingly flashing in the team’s eyes before the Bridge went pitch black. Even the stars and clouds outside the viewport on the Bridge’s ceiling went black! A booming sound rumbled throughout the deck. By it’s octave it could have been machinery, but by it’s pace it could have been very deep laughter. Panels began to light back up as the darkness seemed to pass, leaving just a little bit of a sense of dread.

-GM

“Ensign. I’m guessing that wasn’t you,” Nevin asked Akaba as he attempted to regain his bearings on the now even dimmer bridge.

-Akorem

“I can try, but to keep it stable I’ll have to go down to the computer core and perform a direct interface.” Reira stated, the lights flickering brighter for a moment before everything went dark, the sound ripped right through him. Despite his best efforts to suppress them without the use of Borg technology, he was still somewhat scared of the dark due to his abusive father’s borderline torture “tactical excercises” he made him perform. “It certainly wasn’t… The panel is back online but I’m not getting much from it. I’m going down to the core, contact me if it happens again.” Reira stated, climbing down a Jefferies tube at speed since he had little desire to remain on the bridge of this ghost ship as an old tale came to his mind about a vessel called the Mary Celeste.

Reira Akaba (Ensign, Science)

Nevin’s instincts were that the Ensign should not go alone. “Go with him,” he said to Kalika, “I’m going to see what I can get out of this thing.”

He turned his attention back to the Flight Data Recorder. He took out a portable console and an isolinear cable. He connected one end of the cable to his console and the other to the data port on the orange box that was seated below the floor panel.

=/\=Akorem to Nakuto. How are you getting along down there?=/\=

-Akorem

Kaylia smiled a bit to Kalika, “No…but I could just set up an automated system to run the ship completely by voice commands and keep her aling side with the Viking. My own personal play ground.” Giving a bit of a stretch looking around the bridge. “Hmm..” Giving a thought a moment, “I might can get auxilary power working so we have lighting on all decks and turbolifts going from here.” Shifting over to the Engineering console and leaned down. Then got on her back after pulling the panel open. Reaching to open her kit and get out a few tools. There was a spark and then a loud hiss from her and a number of obcentities spit out. Then a long growl and the thumping of her banging on something inside the alcove.

  • Ensign Kaylia Strenvale (EO)

OOC: are we splitting this thread up because one team went to the bridge and another went to engineering.
Christina

OOC: I think we should so we don’t get confused. I’ll start an Ambassador Class Engineering thread.

Krys

OOC: Yes, split this line here.

IC: The wiring under the panel was as ever neat as Federation wiring could be. After tinkering with it for a bit, along with the swearing, Kaylia managed to get the power running for higher lighting in the Bridge. Before she could retract herself from underneath the panel, something started dripping on her arm and staining the uniform sleeve. The dark red liquid giving off a slight metallic smell. The substance was dripping from behind a rear panel underneath the console at a slow pace.

-GM

“Okay, I think that should do it on my end, sirs. There....what in the?” Giving a look at her sleeve, and then looking at the source of it. “Um…I probably should not touch this.” Kaylia slid out and reached for her tricorder. “Something odd over here.”

  • Ensign Kaylia Strenvale (EO)

Before she could pull the tricorder free to examine the panel, it fell open and dropped a lumpy object into her lap. Blond hair stained with bloody curls spilled over her knees as the open mouthed face stared at hers. Terror was frozen on the face of the disembodied head. Her mouth forever frozen in a scream, possibly before whatever caused her to lack her body.
