The shadows leered at David as he left the Counselors office and made his way to Sickbay. Doing his best to ignore thim he kept a brisk walking up, but when a whisper of “Haaaarrrrrryyyy” creaked in the corridor his step faltered. He paused listening out, but the whisper didn’t come again so he dismissed it as imagining it, and resumed walking. The name came a second time, just as David reached the doors of Sickbay and walked through. Ignoring it this time, he walked in and looked around for someone who might be able to point out where the CMO might be. He’d messaged ahead of time so the CMO ought to be expecting him, but given the state of the Viking, he wouldn’t be surprised if the message had never come through.

“Another new doctor,” Stein said without introduction, more or less appearing next to Harrington when he walked through the door way into Sickbay. “An ensign too. How may I help you Doctor?”

Dr. Stein, CMO

“Must be your lucky day,” David returned dryly, “The CMO I presume?” He held out his hand to shake, “Doctor Ensign Harrington, I’m here for my physical and to report for duty,”

Despite being in his early thirties, there was something that made David appear much older. His eyes were shadowed, and his face was already sporting the beginnings of a beard, though his hair was kept to Starfleet standard. It was also obvious that Harrington was much too thin to be considered healthy, and his uniform hung loosely off him was somewhat baggy, as if he’d lost all his weight since he’d last worn it.

“Oh drats my cover is blown,” Stein said dryly but didn’t accept Harrington’s hand, looking him over with his sharp eyes. “You are unhealthy. Are you sure you are fit for duty?”

The CMO didn’t wait for a response before walking over to a bio-bed and tapping the surface. “Hop up and lay back. Don’t move, or rather you can move but try to limit the movement.” He tapped a few buttons opening up a new file. “Why are you so gaunt?”
