Lenka took a seat on the bio-bed as indicated. “Nothing that bothers me now.” She replied. “Though about five years ago I suffered cerebral edema from a fall on an away mission. It was treated successfully, and apart from a few headaches, I suffered few after effects.”

Elia was, like her entire species, somewhat cat-like in her mannerisms; she watched his every move with an idle curiosity, almost as if she were conducting her own informal assessment. Her work-mates had often found it disconcerting and she had, on occasion, been called out for it by her various Chiefs. She had never really changed, though.

“I am quite eager to get this examination completed quickly, doctor.” She said this without contempt, but there was denying it was rude, whether intentional or not.

The doctor was either uncaring of her rude attitude or he didn’t notice, he simply hummed and said, “Shouldn’t take more than a few minutes Lieutenant.” With a pace that was neither fast nor slow, David brought the tricorder in his hand to the forefront and started scanning from her feet upwards. Saving her head for last so he could pay extra attention to it. Despite his outward guant apparence, his movements had the professional ease of a man who had done this before.

“What are your first impressions of the Viking?” he asked casually, to pass time as he completed her scans. It was always a good question to ask, particularly on the Viking, because the ship was many different things to different people.

Lenka’s lip formed a thin line as the doctor began to hum. She tolerated it, though her rigid posture and small sigh gave away her irritation.

“I have seen only Sickbay, thus far, doctor.” She gave a quick glance around. “And everything seems to be in order. One has heard tales, of course, about possible ‘hauntings’ and such, but as a scientist I put little stock into superstitious, unconfirmed hypotheses.”

“I thought as a scientist you would be more open minded about these kinds of things… after all this is space,” David quipped, in a friendly manner. Though he knew Harry had had the same sentiments as Elia until those same superstitions that she had refused to believe in, despite seeing the proof behind her own eyes, swallowed her whole.

Lenka tilted her head, slightly. “There are all many of phenomena in the universe, doctor, but when people report ‘ghosts’ it tends to be mentally induced psychosis or some other reasonable, if unsual, scientific explanation. I hardly believe spirits of the dead coming to bother us during our day to day routines.”

The scan results showed a small fluid build up in her left knee, though she had not mentioned anything about it.

“Will this take long?” She asked, impatiently.

Elia Lenka was hardly the perfect patient.

David hummed “That depends… Would you mind standing up for minute?”

The Ktarian gave a slight, irritated eye-roll, but complied. She might out-rank him, but this was her physical examination and if he didn’t pass her for duty. “Very well …”

He stepped back eyeing her critically, “Can you lift one leg at a time and bend the raised leg slowly and then straighten it? Let me know if you feel any pain,” He wanted to see if there was any stiffness in her joint movement at all, but he was also testing to see if the fluid was having any effect on her balence.

Elia did as instructed, first with the right (all the while with a pinched, annoyed expression on her face), then the left. When, as instructed, she bent her knee, she winced slightly. ‘Damn’, she thought to herself.

“Have you been experiencing any issues with your legs recently? Maybe one is more swollen than the other? Do they feel heavier than normal?” He quizzed as she worked through the excercise.

The Ktarian scientist felt her heart sink at the dull ache in her leg, plus the restrictive movement. This might even delay her starting work, and she could not tolerate sitting in her quarters being idle. “I suppose,” she said, very reluctantly. “That I have had some inhibited movement in my leg. But I’m sure it’s nothing. I spend most of my time sat down, so I probably just need to exercise a little more.”

OOC: Sorry to play her as rude, I promise I’m not!

When the Ktarian stood she would have seen that Stein was standing there all along taking his own notes. His own features void of anything other than a contemplative frown especially at her summary dismissal of the notion that the ship was haunted. After a few minutes of silence he just walked away, towards his office, without saying a single word during the whole exchange.
