Kalika had left the other two on the bridge and moved to clear the adjascent rooms when a half gasp, half cry, of surprise brought her back with her hand on her phaser. “What happened?” She moved to see Akorem was scanning a head. “Well, that’s not a good sign…” She waited till his scan was done and glanced around before pointing to a vacant chair nearby. “Set it there when done. We will get a container from one of the other departments and take it back to the Viking with us. Maybe we can figure out then what happened. Right now, let’s see what is happening with those us still alive.”

She didn’t like the idea of a disembodied head falling from a panel. Laying on the floor means maybe the body had just been dragged off… but being tucked away, means it was a conscious decision for it to be there. “Can you get the panel working with the head not there, now?”

Kaylia held still for the scan then turned it around to look the head right in the eyes. As carefully as she could of course. “What happened to you…” It was a rhetorical question. Giving a glance to Kalika’s discomfort, she could go and set it in a chair. At least it had three sides to keep it stable from hitting the floor. Coming back to get down there and on her back. Leaning up again and fiddling around, “Should be. Give me…about a minute and a half, Chief.”

“I’m sure the Viking will have an ID for us soon,” Nevin said returned to the ‘Orange box’ and began sending the flight data & logs back to the Viking. He briefly ponderred why the Flight Data Recorder was known as an “Orange Box” when the unit itself was the same metalic grey colour of every other panel and console on a starship.

“OK, let’s get one of these consoles working and take a look at the Captain’s log,” he said indicating to one of the smaller operations consoles at the rear of the bridge.

-Akorem

“That is why they call them a black box or used to actually, because of the color of it, sir.” Kaylia gave a nod. “Other than the fact I had a bloody head in my lap…I did fix the power so…Should be able to just reroute power there and we can view it on the viewscreen.” Moving over there to give a bit of working on. “Try it now.”

The viewer flickered slowly to life, like it had not been used in decades. Fractions of images seemed to show on the viewer for a second or so. Massive sharp teeth....green scales....blood....and a piercing scream as the view exploded. Debris and glass showered the crew on the Bridge as a fire broke out from the exposed wiring. Green flames played across the wires and the floor as it began to spread.

As the console exploded Nevin raised his arm to protect his eyes and fell backwards onto the deck. He got up still dazed and looked at the spreading fire. The fire suppression systems were obviously offline.

“We can’t stay here,” he said stating the obvious.

=/\=Akorem to Viking. Please tell me you are recieving the data transmission from the Data Recorder,=/\= he said. He went to the centre seat and tapped at the console in an attempt to launch the ship’s log bouy… just in case.

-Akorem

As the explosion happened, Kalika grabbed the back of Kaylia’s jerkin and tugged her back with a quick turn to use her body to brace the woman from the fire eruption. “Are you ok?” She asked once things settled and the fire roared. “EVERYONE OUT! Kaylia… grab the head.” She gave the woman a slight shove away from the fire towards the one piece of evidence they may retrieve.

Her hand hit her chest as she hailed the other team, =Away Bridge to Engineering… folks, we had an explosion here and fire spreading quick. Everyone back to the rendevoux point asap. Grab all intel, body parts and data they can retrieve. If you can bag it, take it! NOW! =^= She didn’t like the idea of the ship being potentially boobie trapped. And as head of security and in charge of everyone’s safety, they weren’t coming back without a team to be sure everything was safe, first.

She then hailed the Viking, =^= Viking… Away Team Bridge… we just had an explosion. Called for evac, we need a safety check before we go anywhere else on this ship. And have science standing by with a box… ummmm,=^= she stiffeled a grin and she continued, =^= A box about the size of a head. We need a container when we arrive. =^= She knew that info would leave them guessing. And part of her enjoyed the idea.

“Come on, guys… everyone out.... NOW!” She herded everyone to the door and out of the bridge. She made sure she would be the last one out.

=/\=Viking are you recieving the data?=/\= Nevin asked urgently as he monitored the display of his portable console that was hooked up to the flight data recorder and glancing at the spreading fire.

-Akorem

Only a moment later the Viking joined, Peter Sigmundsson answered =^=Away team we copy, Science will be there with a… head-sized box.” He answered the Security Chief first “Yes Commander we are receiving the data, Can you make it to the Shutle?=^= The answer brief and tothe point.

=/\=Thank you, Viking. We’re heading that way now,=/\= he said already navigating the flames that were dancing on the carpet floor, heading for the exit point. Once at a point of relative safety he removed his uniform jacket so that it could be used to wrap the head in for now.

-Akorem

As the group reconvened at the where the shuttle was docked, they found it gone. No trace of it having been there. The lights in the area were dim as well like a power draw was keeping them from making their proper lighting.

-GM

T’Shura entered with Luna behind her and looked around curiously for the shuttle. “Commander, we never made it to Engineering as we were attacked by a beast of some sort. Where is our shuttle?” She asked curiously as she activated her tricorder and scanned the area where the shuttle had been.
