Famo got done with his check in with the department, and decided he should stop putting off the psychological evaluation he had to get, so he pressed the chime to the counselor’s office.

Truzu Famo, doctor

The office was nestled into one of the darkest corridors of the vessel, all adjacent rooms emptied from use, long before the Counselor had ever arrived. Despite the eerieness of the damning hall, a sweet voice still came from within, even with the screech of the chime. “Come in!”

Lt. Beveres

Famo stepped into the room, glad for the light that illuminated the office, “Ensign Truzu Famo, I’m here for my evaluation.” Famo used the traditional Bajoran naming scheme, hoping she would pick up on it.

Truzu Famo, doctor

“Ah, Ensign Truzu. Please, have a seat.” Talk offered a smile, noticing the man was Bajoran, which she took into account before speaking. “How was your transport to the Viking?”

Famo offered a small smile to her on using the proper name. “It was as pleasant as it could be. Dull and cramped.” It was at that moment that the ship decided to make a noise, which caused Famo to jump. “But overall it wasn’t horrible.”

Truzu Famo, doctor

“Dull and cramped? Haven’t you heard: that’s luxuy transportation around here,” She smiled, unfazed by the noise. “Don’t worry about the noises, they happen all of the time.” She assured him, pulling up his file. “So, tell me, how have you settled in?”

“As good as I can at the moment. I’m a bit eager to get to work and hopefully not die by the ship’s…hands?” Famo grimaced a little, “is it true she’s haunted?”

Truzu Famo, doctor

Tal frowned a bit at the question, “Haunted..? I suppose everyone takes it in a different way. The Viking is a ship unlike any of the others. She has her own free will, if you would. And like any other ship, she attracts her own unique kind of danger. Space krakens, sentient shadows, the dead screaming from their end of the universe. She is not so much ‘haunted’ as she is a magnet for the idiosyncratic.” Beveres was not like other counselors, she didn’t sugar coat things, nor force feed the truth. She merely spoke candidly, in hopes the opposing party might understand. “I cannot promise your safety aboard her decks, Ensign. But I can assure you.. you will never be bored.”

Lt. Beveres

“Well at least I got a fun one. Here’s to hoping that I’ll get to enjoy it.” Famo said, chuckling.

Truzu Famo, doctor

Beveres chuckled. “I’m sure you’ve never been assigned to a ship like Viking, and may never be, again.” She winked. “So, what brought you to Starfleet?” She asked.

Lt. Beveres
CNS

“Nothing else really for me.” Famo admitted, “I’ve never been to Bajor, hadn’t even seen it until I was 15, and there’s nothing there for me. So I appealed to…and by that I mean annoyed…a visiting Starfleet Officer and eventually got a recommendation to Starfleet Academy.”

Truzu Famo, doctor

Amusement glittering across her dark gaze, Tal couldn’t help but smile. “I see,” She shook her head. “And when you got to the Academy, what was your first thought? Was it what you were dreaming of?”

Lt. Beveres
CNS

“All of it and more.” Famo said with a smile, “it was exactly what I was hoping for, an escape from the colony that wasn’t driven by my parents’ goals.”

Truzu Famo, doctor

Tal smiled, writing down a few notes. “Did your parents have any impact on the reason you became a doctor?”
