T’Shura finally felt rested after having a few days of leisure time since their study of the Federation ship had not been very fruitful. She actually felt a bit of un Vulcan like frustration with that mission. The questions plagued her of where the beast had come from and why the ship had been taken over by it and other unknowns such as the severed head. She was glad that the Captain had let them bring back the head so they could at least identify whoever it had been and perhaps gain some clues about how it had become separated from it’s body.

Entering the labs she signed it at her console before going to the storage to get the head that was held in a container in stasis. Bringing it back with her she programmed her console to begin with some DNA scans so she could match the head with the officers of the Ambassador class ship. Her sense of frustration was a bit apparent by her idly tapping fingers on the panel as she waited for the results.

Feeling stable enough to return to duty, Reira walked into the Science Laboratory and saw T’Shura, his colleague. Her Vulcan Logic was agreeable to him, she didn’t attempt to engage in small talk, which without John he wasn’t very good at. “Lieutenant T’Shura? Might I assist you?” The ex-Drone offered, walking over to her station and looking at the head, unfazed by what he saw. Noticing her tapping fingers, he went to the computer console and enhanced her scanning algorithim, fingers dancing across the brightly lit screen at incredible speed. “That should reduce the scan time by approximately 29%.” He reported, despite his best attempt at emotional suppression the ship filled him full of questions too. Hopefully, the decapitated head may yet give them an answer, but with it came several more questions. For what reason had this individual been decapitated, what happened to the rest of him?

“Thank you, Ensign.” T’Shura said as she turned to address him. She might as well give him an update while the scans were running.” I am attempting to ascertain who this unfortunate officer was. He is from the bridge of the Ambassador Class ship. Obviously his head was violently removed from his body due to what I am surmising was the beast like creature we found in the Engineering section. The edges of the neck look severely lacerated and chewed.”

OOC: We are without a GM so we are going to make up our own results here, just wanted to help tie up loose ends of the sim while we await our new GM.:)

“It’s alright, Lieutenant.” He replied equally as formally, continuing to think. “That’s the logical course of action. Thankfully, due to the method of decapitation there may be genetic traces of the being that killed him, this beast in the Engineering section. If we can analyze it’s DNA, we might be able to learn more about this man’s killer. Was the evolution forced and by what? If there’s enough, we could even create a holographic reconstruction.” Reira stated, altering the parameters of the scan to look for non-humanoid DNA, the computer beeped at displayed the results. “Lieutenant Commander Alexi Mikhailov, their Tactical Officer.” The ex-Drone read out the results when the genetic scan results came up. “The computer has detected traces of unknown DNA in the head… It appears to be canine in origin, similar to a wolf.” The Ensign began, looking at the molecular structure in detail.

“However, it’s been massively mutated and is continuing to mutate as we speak. I don’t think the anomaly we had entered caused this, I think it was instigated and the anomaly massively accelerated it. The violent and rapid mutation explains why we haven’t found Lieutenant Mikahilov’s body, I imagine the beast that killed him ate it. To evolve this fast must require an extreme amount of energy.”

Ensign Reira Akaba (Science)

“Indeed, I would think it would.” T’Shura murmured though even for a Vulcan she looked a bit green around the edges. “Excellent work, Ensign. I will add this information to the file. The Captain wished to tie up all the loose ends of this mission despite our failure to resolve anything.”
