Please tell me it is the code you’ve got rid of, not your emotions.”

“I deleted the code. Unlike the Borg, I enjoy my emotions, they separate me from the machine and I still have use for them. I’m not sure if life would be worth anything without the ability to feel them.” Reira stated quickly. “Strong emotions can have positive effects, injustice can lead to action that causes change for the better.” He offered, sitting down.

“You speak with a wisdom that is beyond your years,” Nevin said, “Sometimes you don’t see the positive effect of emotions until they are gone. Love, for example. It’s a strong one that is so easily lost.”

“Thank you very much…” Reira nodded, quite happy at the compliment. “Yes, I’m aware… I really miss John. He saw me as a person, not as a Drone or a talking, walking computer bank.” He smiled, reminiscing.

“Hmm,” Nevin said remembering his time at the Academy, “John is a double of Marcus & James - That’s John’s father & uncle. They used to be kind, honest, caring and very impulsive. That impulsiveness led them to sometimes make mistakes, much like John has, but you know, who hasn’t made any?”
“If you & John are in love the same way that James & I used to be, then even the stars can’t keep you apart,” he said smiling as he remembered the good times of their relationship, “The mistake we made was serving together. A conflict of interest between our mission and our relationship led to the failure of both.”
