Harrington placed the tweezers to the side, and completed a quick scan with his tricorder to ensure that he had removed all of the shrapnel before he could start closing up the wounds. The amount of damage leaving even one small piece of shrapnel in was could be life threatening if it was missed, so David wanted to play it safe. He couldn’t been too careful.

Once he was convinced that everything was removed from the XO’s system, he picked up his dermal regenerator and started repairing the wounds. “You’re lucky you didn’t get any in your eye.” He commented, as he ran the regenerator over the cuts on Akorem’s face.

“I was also surprised that I managed to raise my arm quick enough to protect them,” Nevin said. As irritating and itchy as the sensation of being on the treatment side of the dermal regenerator was, Nevin kept as still as he could.

-Akorem

“You obviously have good reflexes,” David commented casually, finishing up the last of the cuts and moving onto putting Dermaline gel onto the wounds so that he could heal them. “This might feel a little cool,” he said in warning as he smeared the first lot onto the worst of the burns.

The coolness of the gel on his smooth face. “Yes, and I won’t shave for a day or two so that the skin gets chance to heal porperly,” Nevin said knowing the Harrington’s next instruction well having given it many times over his own career as a doctor.

-Akorem

David quirked an eyebrow at the Akorem, pausing for a moment, “Been here a few times before have you sir?” he asked, amused. “You stole the words right out of my mouth.” he resumed his actions “If there looks to be any scarring, you know where to come then.”

“Just a few,” Nevin replied with a smile, “But this is the first time on this side of the tricorder.”

-Akorem

Stein stood behind Akorem out of view but tried to make eye contact with Harrington. As if to explain the joke from the Bajoran, as if David really needed it, Francis reached up and tugged at the blue collar and the silver pips there. His eyebrows raised ever so slightly before they dropped again, his hands folding behind his back as he continued to watch his colleague do the examination of the senior officer.
