Nevin looked approvingly at the restraints, “Seems you have a hobby I wasn’t made aware of,” Nevin replied to the COS. Nevin’s sense of humour often showed at the most innapropriate times.

“Anything unusual showing up on the scans?” Nevin asked the doctor.

-Akorem

Seen as Stein was delicately repairing Dr Brion’s shattered arm, the young Nurse Bright took the lead and came over to join them. “There was an elevated level of neurotransmitter usually seen in telepaths but the docs didn’t get further than that. Lt Lazoh is El-Aurian but there’s something super weird going on here, it’s like she’s possessed or something…” the nurse trailed off as she thought back.

As they talked, Lazoh groaned as she began to wake up. Nurse Bright gasped and jumped back, nearly treading on their toes as she shook her head in disbelief. “That should have been enough to knock her out for hours…” she whimpered as she instinctively stepped behind the men for safety.

Mother Hen

Lucas held the person coming back to consciousness in a way that kept them off balance and unable to exert their strength in any meaningful effort.

“Easy there lass, we just needta make sure you’re not possessed or nothin. Relax and gather your wits first.”

COS Mackenzie

OOC: Sorry for going AWOL on you guys! I got caught up with work and stuff.

OOC: No worries :)

IC: Stein finished injecting himself with something probably best left unidentified before sliding the hypospray back to the nurse that had handed it to him. “I blame myself mostly,” he began talking to himself as his eyes dilated. “You see if they just started out understanding the value of proper medical treatment then they would just sub…” Stein stopped when Lucas jumped in and physically restrained the young girl.

Stein stared at Mackenzie for a long time in silence before he finally said, in a strung out clip, “Don’t do that if I don’t ask you to, please. I am not security and don’t have good aim. I would hate for you to get an arm full of Dimethyltryptamine.” A slightly deranged smile followed before he went back to treating his patient with a slight whistle, slowly repairing the bones.

CMO Stein

Dr Brion let out a sigh of relief as she felt the treatment beginning to take effect. “Thank you doctor…” she said quietly.

“Have any of the other telepaths reported halloucinations, or headaches?” Nevin asked wonderring if the Colony’s problems made be being caused by some sort of telepathic attack.

-Akorem

Nurse Bright nodded slowly, keeping her gaze firmly fixed on Lazoh. “Not just telepaths sir, Captain Ries reported seeing a dead crew member several times before his death. He is…I mean was, a Trill with no telepathic ability. Many of the colony crew have reported seeing unusual things over the last few days,” she added, her voice still trembling with fear.

Mother Hen

Peter gave the Security Chief a slight nod of approval as he looked at Commander Akorem “Unless this is some type of undetectable neurotoxin affecting the Colony we may be dealing with some sort of Telepathic entity” He said in a serious tone “It is too early to make any sorts of guesses yet, so far it does not seem to be a technological problem.” He continued his musings.

CIO

Lucas winked at the CIO with a grin on his face. He shifted his hold on the young woman coming back to consciousness to make her more comfortable as she awoke but equally immobilized.

COS Mackenzie

“That was my thought exactly,” Nevin said, “An unjoined Trill Symbiont communicates using electro-chemical signals and could be suseptible to some types of psionic… “

Nevin’s voice trailled off as though a light switch had come on interrupting his own speech.

“Does the colony use bio-neural gel packs?” the XO asked.

-Akorem

OOC: Give that man a cookie :)

IC: Although Nurse Bright wasn’t particularly mechanically engineered, all colonists had been required to study the specifications in preparation for their assignment.

“Yes sir, the colony has 5 computer cores due to the size, 3 of them are bio-neural systems. There are 2 isolines backup systems but the majority of the colony runs off the 3 bio-neural cores. Why do you ask sir?” She asked curiously.

As they talked, Lazoh’s eyes fluttered open again and she looked up at Mackenzie in terror. “Help me…” she whispered. “I can’t keep control for long…” she added, her voice crackling with emotion.

Mother Hen

Peter looked at the Commander, an expression of understanding “Non-corporeal, of course” He nodded in agreement “When I checked the system it didn’t occur to me” He said contemplatingly. “Do you know a way to confirm it” He asked in the same quiet tone as before.

CIO

“It would explain the turbolift, and the weather control station,” Nevin replied, “Switch to the isolinear backups as a precaution, and alert the repair team and also the Viking.”

Nevin looked to the doctors. He had not hears Lazoh’s plea, but could see her worry on her face.

“A Neural inhibitor should help. Have you got any?” he asked.

-Akorem

“Doc, do ya have anything to suppress an empath’s or telepath’s ability? Maybe cutting her off from the influence would help.” Lucas remarked, “We need something quick.”

COS Mackenzie

The strung out CMO looked at the COS with a dumbfounded look in his eyes. “Of course there is something around here that can do that,” he looked Mackenzie over once more before turning his head back to the Nurse and muttered under his breath, “You do have a neural suppressant, correct? Morphine will work in a pinch but I would rather not just knock the patient unconscious.”

Nurse Bright nodded slowly, still a little shell shocked from the whole experience. “Third drawer on the right…” she replied quietly. “What do we do if it doesn’t work?” She asked nervously. “Will we have to throw her in the brig?”

Mother Hen

He glanced over his shoulder then continued to the nurse, “Of course ya gotta do what ya gotta do.”

CMO Stein

“You may need to replicate some proper restraints, maybe something akin to a straitjacket. Ropes are an effective short term solution, force fields are good but if somethings infecting the Computer systems we might need to rely on less advanced containment procedures.” Peter mused “As far as I kow we don’t have any Telepaths or ESP’rs with us. I’ve received mild training in protecting my mind but I doubt it’ll do any good against something of that magnitude” He pointed at the dazed crazy “When did these… events first start taking place?” He asked the room.

CIO

“True, but the ship has gel packs,” Nevin replied

-Akorem

“Ah, you misunderstand Commanda.” Lucas said in response to the CIO, “These are a reinforced synthetic fiber, even a Klingon under full bloodlust couldn’t sunder these. She’s not going anywhere but I do fear for her well-being, as a person could harm themselves if they strain their muscles past the limits. A straight jacket only immobilizes the upper torso while my restraint with the cord immobilizes joints individually. A sedation approach would be most effective in this case, assuming it can last longer than a few minutes.”

COS Mackenzie

Peter looked at Mackenzie, looked down mumbled something then looked up “I do believe that akin means… ‘similar’ yes?” He asked quite earnestly as if the meaning of the word escaped him, his slightly Scandinavian accent flaring up a bit “I don’t doubt the effectiveness of your knots Lieutenant” He placed his hands behind his back and considered for a moment “Failsafes is what I recommend, in case one containment doesn’t work at least three others stand, I believe the term overkill applies.” He said inclining his head a bit, Security of the Viking crew was no longer under his purview so he would defer to the Security Chief.

CIO

Stein grabbed the sedative and applied it to the patient before commenting over his shoulder to the other men. “I won’t have a patient tearing themselves apart trying to get free. If her metabolism is such that the drug keeps her sedated and her mental abilities repressed then we will keep her in the sickbay. If I can’t keep her chemically out of it we will move her to the brig. The force fields are much less constraining than unbreakable knots.”
