Nevin began climbing the stair case. As he did so he cpuld be seen taking out his side arm, checking the setting before re-holstering the weapon.

Were Nevin spotted doing this by any of the officers, this would seem very unusual, especially given where he was heading…

-Akorem

OOC: I’ll leave it to you guys whether your character noticed Nevin’s actions or not :)

-Jim

Lucas was not paying attention to the XO’s departure. He was still focused on the Captain and the little girl hiding coquettishly behind her while providing the briefing.

Peter, who was following the XO, noticed the action but said nothing. He tapped his own Sidearm to see if it was there out of habit and then loosened his Jacket and reached inside it, feeling the handle of his throwing knives attached to his chest, six in total three on each side. He had planned to simply go as ordered to investigate the past of the Colony but decided to quietly follow the Commander.

CIO

It didn’t take long for to reach the Admiral’s office. When he got there he simply entered without knocking or waiting for consent. Nevin had been so focused on getting there and had not seen the CIO following.

He approached the Admiral’s desk and leaned heavily over it with both arms so as to intrude on the Admiral’s personal space.

“What are you covering up? What was in the caves?” Nevin demanded.

-Akorem

Peter took a position just outside the door where he could monitor the hall and the conversation. Although he didn’t trust the Bajoran as far as… well as far as Akorem could throw Peter was an apter analogy than the other way around as he was fairly certain he could toss the first officer a decent distance. Despite that lack of trust he was still going to have his back until he could learn more about what the mystery surrounding the man was.

CIO

Viktoryia had noticed what the first officer had done and looked down at tal”kia “can you tell if my first officer is being controlled by one of your brothers?” She said already on the move. She motioned for everyone to follow her as she quickly made her way to the Admrial’s office.

Lucas sighed before checking his own sidearm and followed closely behind the Captain. He intended to let the XO do what needed to be done while he kept the Captain safe.

Viktoryia stopped just outside the door to the admrial’s office in time to hear what her first officer asked. She looked town at Tal’Kia the to her security officer. An eerie stillness surrounded the group as they waited for the admrial’s reply.

When the Admiral didn’t answer took out his phaser and put it on the desk in such a manner that it wasn’t visible to anyone who might pass. He pointed itat the Admiral and kept his finger ready to press the fire button.

“You’re familiar with The Starfleet Charter? Specifically Article fourteen, Section thirty-one?” Nevin asked rhetorically, “You see that allows for extraordinary measures to be taken in times of extreme threat. Whether extraordinary measures are required right now is going to depend on you convincing me that the threat isn’t extreme, if you get my meaning.”

-Akorem

Peter outside the door indicated to the group that they should hold position when he noticed their arrival. He placed one large finger over his lips to indicate silence as he caught the eye of Security Chief MacKenzie, pointing to the other side of the door bracing himself slightly and touching the hilt of his sidearm as an indication of what to prepare for, in the event something needed to be done.

CIO

Lucas nodded curtly before moving into position on the other side of the doorway, his hand hanging loosely near his phaser. He waited to see what was going to happen next while making sure their backs were covered.

OOC: As we no longer have a GM on our Roster, I’m going to continue with this thread based upon the information I was given about tge planned sim.

Please feel free to jump in.

IC: The admiral folded his arms and spoke calmy. “If you had the nerve to press that button, you would have done so already,” He said and got up from his seat slowly. “Extraordinary measures can also make things, people or even entire ships & crews disappear. They can make or break careers. You’ve already seen those for yourself,” The Admiral began walking around the desk. Nevin kept his phaser trained on the Admiral and was visible for the first time to the observers on the outside.

“You slaughtered them as they slept!” Nevin accused in a harsh and uncharacteristically aggressive tone, “They were families, children, the elderly. They were not soldiers. They wanted peace and would have welcomed you if only you’d asked!”

“That is a dangerous accusation to make and would have been a far easier solution,” The Admiral replied, “I almost wish I’d thought of that myself. Give me the phaser, Commander, and perhaps exceptional measures can go in your favour for a change. Hmm?”

-Akorem

OOC: Not just the men, but the women and children too! Haha.

Lucas kept posted up on the door while keeping his attention split between the room and their exit. The XO seemed to have things in hand though maybe a bit high strung and aggressive, but Lucas didn’t know the man well enough to tell if this was out of character or not.

Nevin kept the phaser trained on the Admiral. “You think I won’t do it?” Nevin asked in an uncharacteristically aggressive tone. Those who knew Nevin would know him as a kind, gentle person, leading the crew by encouraging them to be better than they thought they could be. His past record as a CMO showed he wouldn’t expect his staff to do anything he wouldn’t do himself. An upcoming officer and single parent with everything to loose for just threatening an Admiral.

“After what you & McHarrie did on the Semmelweiss, I believe you’d have killed me without warning,” The Admiral said, “Whatever you want from me, you’re not getting…”

OOC: Last chance to intervene…

-Akorem

At the mention of McHarrie Peter perked up, he motioned the Security Chief to hold his ground and holstered his phaser and quietly stepped inside “Commander, put the phaser down” He said looking directly at the Admiral, he wasn’t going to lose another piece of this puzzle.

CIO

The XO looked around at Peter, but kept the phaser where it was.

“We know you are not all the same, but why didn’t he stop them? This one worked it out and was angry about it,” Nevin said referring to himself revealing that the XO was infact not himself.

“A thriving, peaceful colony gone… Just like that!” he added

-Akorem

Lucas stayed in his position, fingers lightly touching his phaser that was still holstered. He nodded at the CIO and kept their backs covered, leaving it to the other man to deal with the situation.

Peter clenched his teeth, the man was possessed by something “If that is the case allow us to bring him to justice, don’t force someone else’s hand to do the deed” He took a step closer, both hands raised to show he was unarmed.

CIO

“We didn’t kill anyone,” The Admiral said reluctantly, “We may have… re-homed some native creatures, but we had no idea any were sentient.”

“You lied once. How do I know you aren’t lying again?” the XO asked.

The Admiral glanced at Peter looking for assistance in answering the question.

-Akorem

Without looking from the now-possessed first officer Peter spoke coldly “Because if he lies at all he won’t get a chance to explain his actions to a tribunal” His voice turned cold as his gaze turned to the Admiral “Now explain point by point what you did so the nice ghost alien give us our Commander again”

CIO

The possessed XO lowered his weapon. “This one trusts you, I sense it in his him,” he said to Peter.

“We re-homed some what we thought were non-sensient creatures found in the caves. Only a handful mind,” The Admiral said looking weary, but releaved there was no long a phaser trained on him.

“We did not breach the Prime Directive,” the Admiral continued, “It was only ever temporary during construction as they appear to have emit a natural dampening field that inhibits sscans and transporter locks. Once construction is completed we are going to return them to where we found them. I can make the call early?”

-Cricket

Lucas piped in from the doorway, “As a precaution I’d not let him make any communications just yet. Things are a little too volatile and we need to verify his claims first. No offense intended Admiral, but your track record leaves me a skeptic.”
