“Yes and no,” Nevin replied honestly before clarifying further, “Without going into too much personal detail, the cause of her illness has been identified, the how and why have not.”

“I just hope she get’s better soon.” Mike commented. Viking was already understaffed so much, a few less and it could be called empty.

Lt. Mike Stone, CE

“As, I’m sure, we all do,” Nevin acknowledged.

“I am aware that things are not easy, and that being called away from Starbase as we were left us under-equipped and under-manned,” Nevin said, “Admiral Proctor has however assured me that he has been aquiring the supplies we requested on our last visit and the crew that were due to come aboard are ready for our return. He has reserved a berth for us on the dry dock. His detox teams will be at your disposal during our stay, Mr Stone, so prepare a work schedule that takes advantage of that,” Nevin said, “Let’s be honest, this ship has been unpredictable enough and we’ve now had a malicious AI poking around. “

“Eh, Proctor… ” Mike waved his hand. “If we got only half of what he usualy promises, we’d have enough to make three Vikings… sure i’ll make plans if he delivers, but I’ll also make plans if he doesn’t.” Mike heard too often promises of new man power and resources. Too often he had to manage on his own.

Lt. Mike Stone CE

“I’m assuming that the unpredictability of the Captains illness is why you called a full staff meeting. Has Starfleet Commanded been informed, if so what have they said and if not” He paused, he was the newest senior officer on board and beyond some junior Security staff and some of the Nursing staff he’d worked with years prior he was completely unfamiliar with this crew, he didn’t quite get how or if the Crew as a whole were generally very loyal to their Captain. A crew of misfits as people back home refered to the Viking, would often form very strong bonds with their leaders. “Well if not, should we? Is the matter serious enough for outside interfearance?”

CIO

“At this stage, Lieutenant SEAI does not believe that Fleet command need to be aware,” Nevin said, “At the moment, I agree with that assesment. If any of you, however do not, then please let me know and the reasons so that it can be duly noted in the logs.”

Sanz shook his head slightly, sighed a bit, and said “I will simply say that the Commanding Officer is in a coma. Regulations are specific as to what is supposed to happen in the case the Captain is compromised and unable to perform their duties. And part of that is notifying Star Fleet. I don’t see why it would be advisable to not follow the regulations in such an instance… but we, the rest of the staff outside yourself Sir and Lt. SEAI, are obviously not privy to all the information regarding this. I simply wish it on the record that I don’t understand why notifying Fleet Command is even a question. But as that decision has apparently already been made… there it is, I suppose.” and he fell silent. Sanx did not understand this ship, it’s priorities. And the longer he was on board, the more frustrated he became. How he longed for a less complicated situation…

Sanx, CSO

“You are correct that the decision has been made. The chain of command is clear that it is mine to make. I will review this one further, taking into consideration everyone’s feedback,” Nevin said, “If I thought that you needed to know the specifics details surrounding the Captain’s illness and this information would impact the safety of the ship, or even your own decisions regarding running of your departments, then trust me, you would know.”

Nevin began to fill his coffee cup up again whilst continuing to talk, “If I inform Fleet Command of the situation they will ask questions to help them make their decision. I see no point informing them until I am in a position to answer their questions.”

“Anyone else?” he asked.

Peter squinted ever so slightly. He was starting to see a clearer picture of how this crew functioned. But this SEAI being in charge of Sickbay moderately worried him, he knew he couldn’t speak to what he did or did not know about the Android but he wondered what the crew knew. He took a final sip from his coffee as he scanned the table “There are several things we need to discuss as well.” Peter said softly as a big hand grabbed the coffee pot and refilled his cup “If no one objects there is an Issue I’d like to discuss.” He said looking over the crowd. the only one who hadn’t commented on the CO’s absence was the still quiet Counsellor.

CIO

“Star fleet hardly acknowledges we exist… If CO’s situation is not that serious, then I wouldn’t bother and make reports to them. If situation changes we can still do that later.” Mike said his opinion. He then looked at CIO and waited to hear more about what he wanted to discuss.

Lt.Mike Stone, CE

“Go ahead, Commander,” Nevin said to the CIO.

OOC: As I understand this happens after the conclusion of the main sim as the Sickbay thread takes place then.

“If anyone read the Bridge situation report they should be familiar with an altercation between me and Ensign Strenvale” Peter indicated to her Department head as he spoke sotto voce “Normally I would tender this to the Security Chief and the Captain with the First officer” He looked at Nevin “in the loop. Seeing as the Captain is currently unavailable and we don’t have a functional Chief of Security at the moment beyond the acting officer in Charge Ensign Darz” He explained slowly and calmly “For those of you who don’t know, Ensign Strenvale arrived on the Bridge through the Jefferies Tubes possessing dated information about the whereabouts of the AI that had been infiltrating our system, when she arrived the Engineering crew and the Away team had expelled the AI and we had started opening fire on the surface.” He took a short pause to gather his thoughts before continuing.

“The Ensign believed that opening fire was putting the crew at risk and attempted to cut power to weapons. This is after both Commander Akorem and Chief Stone gave the go-ahead to open fire and our systems were clear of any AI influence. I admit my first reactions were…” He hesitated still not showing any sense of emotion “Overly aggressive. After the Ensign shoved me out of the way and stated that she would not recognize my authority I suspended her authorizations and had her escorted off the bridge.” He paused again and took a second to consider his next words clearly “The ensign attempted to hit me, I avoided the blow and allowed her to go to her quarters without an escort in an effort to de-escalate the situation” He took a moment to drink from his cup before finishing “I bring this forth on this meeting to get your reactions and opinions. My full and detailed report is in the system but flagged. I fully expect the Ensign to file a formal complaint but I fear that in doing so she may put her career at risk.” He leaned forward in his chair. “First if I may, Lieutenant Stone, what is your opinion of this seeing as she is one of yours”

CIO

Glancing between the CIO and Lieutenant Stone, Beveres considered the event at hand. Well, from a far more psychological standpoint than the others might have approached it. She could see both sides of the coin, choosing to file a complaint albeit risking her career as an officer, or keeping quiet and never getting the restitution the young Ensign might believe she deserved. Both were equally damaging to the psyche, but she hoped the woman could make a proper choice. However, she could not say she was fully against what had happened, either. An active pacifist, she saw no reason for malice, but his methods could have been described as a type of self defense, if placed into that light. After all, Strenvale had possessed an offensive nature, resulting in plausible retaliation. With that being said, her mind could have easily reacted to his immediate suspension as a type of threat, triggering the flight-or-fight mode of her brain. It was a precarious position, one which she considered but chose to keep quiet, as this was between the CIO, Stone and the XO.

The door swished open and the familiar form of SEAI entered, “I would apologize for the fact that I am late, but you all know that I would not be late without a very good reason.” She sat down at the table, her eyes roaming over everyone in the room, those who knew her could probably guess that she was doing a scan of everyone in the room, checking their blood pressure, heart rate, and other bodily functions. Ever since she had returned, sickbay had been returned to full efficiency under the threat of a Battle of Wolf 359 simulation (She had used that before when people started to get too lax), and the grumbles of her ‘methods’ had slowly started to return. A padd was pulled out of one of her lab coat pockets and was tossed onto the table in front of the XO, “An update on the Captain’s condition, and a log of my latest findings. A good read if you have some spare time.”

Upon noticing some of the glances she waved her hand and spoke, “Yes I am aware of the fact that you were in the middle of a conversation when I entered, but as I know that this is going to go nowhere, I thought that I would get the important bits out of the way before this conversation devolves into petty threats.”
