The Empress herself was expected. Everyone was on high alert. A sea of uniforms filled an amphitheater dressed with Imperial flags and banners. Harsh red light fell on a stage where five Captains sat. Above them were suspended banners of the names of their ships. The first Hades Class vessels to leave the dock. An Admiral walked to the middle of the stage. A hush fell. The Admiral, Tobias Wynter, took on a wicked smile. He spoke “Today is an auspicious day. We are dedicating the Empire’s greatest creations yet.” A cheer echoed through the room. “These ships, these magnificent machines, will lead our Empire into a new age. And it will be glorious.” Another cheer rang out.

Armed guards took over the stage and ushered the Admiral off. An anticipatory silence fell. A shuttle pod descended and deposited its passenger onto the stage before departing. Whispers. As the dust settled, the figure became clear. The Empress. Empress Ayaka had inherited the throne recently from her blood relation, through means unknown. There were swirling rumors, though those were tantamount to dissent, and therefore spoken in hushes. She was severe in appearance and demeanor, and took her security very seriously. She took center stage. “Hades. Hell. Fire. War. The rewards for resistance is pain. These ships are pain. They are the instruments of our conquest and our victory.” The amphitheater was filled with raucous cheering. “I dedicate these ships, in the name of the Terran Empire, the ISS Hades, the ISS Cerberus, the ISS Nyx, the ISS Charon. May these vessels lead the Empire to excellence.”

Astrid as she had come to be called after her liberation from Hyperion thanks to her master Gunnar though that word had taken on a different meaning she was not his slave she was simply his apprentice he had opened her eyes to the possibilities only thanks to the Knights of Hades she played with the obsidian ring that was now resting comfortably on her finger and now she and her master was going to be working together on one of these new ships…Cerberus they would show the whole Galaxy just who was strong enough to lead all when the crowd began to chant Long live the empire she joined in at her belt were two Usshan-Tor blades along with her service dagger these curved and serrated ice miners tools that were used for some honor ritual though for Astrid she used them simply for the brutal wounds they could make in fact these were the same two she had used to slaughter the rest of her clan which had been the final test for her initiation into the knights of Hades

now she was getting ready for a new ship and she was glad her master was bringing her along on this new adventure

Astrid

Micha pushed himself through the crowd of people, coming up to the area reserved for Cerberus crew gathering. “Long live the empire!” He cheered with a group as he passed, before narrowly dodging a thrown knife.

Micha Thoran, inquisitor

Higgs heard the whole thing and walked in and heard the rest and said “Long live the empire!” And he will never forget it.

Gunnar was the first of the Captains to stand at attention when the Emperor arrived and salute her majesty. He didn’t cheer or smile or celebrate. He looked across the auditorium, looking for the people that were assigned to his ship, he’d made certain that most of his new crew would be admitted. His icy blue eyes found them one by one, first, he looked towards Astrid, he’d trained the child then tossed her into a figurative den of wolves, an Andorian training with Terran elites, a decision that had annoyed certain people. He moved his gaze calmly and found Inquisitor Thoran, he’d never had an inquisitor onboard one of his ships before, it would be an interesting experience to have someone else as dedicated to something beyond themselves. Another person of interest was a young man, Ensign Griggs, there were not many fresh from the academy that were assigned to the Hades Class.

Gunna rested his hand on his axe and turned his attention to the Emperor again, he hadn’t seen the young woman in four years, not since he’d saved her and her predecessor.

Micha walked over to where the captain stood. “Captain.” He nodded, eyes watching several people.

Micha Thoran, inquisitor

Astrid caught her master’s eyes and smiled at him she was so glad she had been able to prove strong enough to be taken under his wing the training under him had been though but it had been absolute hell when he had her train with his elite friends and then to have her hunt down and slay the rest of her clan for treason it had honed what had been a slave into a hardened warrior who was completely dedicated to the Empire and to the Empress She reached out and tapped the Inquisitor on the shoulder before he made a fool of himself nodding to the empress “Tell me Inquisitor do you intend to make a fool of yourself by trying to upstage the Empress while she is speaking?” she asked him simply though with a cold almost mocking voice

she stood 6 feet tall even, through her training she had built up quite the array of muscles and looked practically Amazonian if they were blue and had antenna her uniform, of course, was a skirt and crop top combo like all women of the fleet however hers had a slight modification the midriff and love handles were showing yet the back of her top ran all the way and tucked into the back of her skirt this was because she covered up the many Many scars from her time as a slave her green eyes held the same cold stare that Gunnar could give though hers had a bit more emotion than his her hair was tied up in a tight bun two Chopsticks held it in place while two small blades of her snow-white hair rand down the sides to frame her face which was clearly very feminine and beautiful “Let us wait until the captain is done up there then we can talk to him” she added

Astrid

Micha scowled at her, but relented. “You have a fair point, commander.” He said, taking a couple steps back.

Micha Thorn, Inquisitor

The Empress strode over to the CO of the Hades and spoke softly into his ear. She walked over to Gunnar and did the same. “Do not fail me Captain.”

The young ensign who went in to hear the rest of the christening, he then decided to walk away and head to his duty station in engineering.

Ensign Griggs

Gunnar simply inclined his head “As you command” He said in his usual calm tone, he’d never been intimidated by the empress or her mother but he was a loyalist and he would do as was his duty.

CO

The Empress moved on and spoke to each Captain in turn, presumably saying the same thing each time. As she left Gunnar, an administrator snuck over and said to him “There has been a gift left on your ship. An Orion, for your use. Courtesy of the Empress, Captain.”

-GM

Gunnar didn’t react, he simply inclined his head and waited for the administrator to leave. He stood straight for the Empress to finish her duties and depart.

After The ceremony had ended Gunnar met with his First Officer and the inquisitor. He clasped hands behind his back, nodding once to each “Prepare my ship, we will be leaving in three hours.” He said to Astrid without looking at her, he was looking over the inquisitor with a discerning gaze.

CO

“Of course Master,” she said pulling out the Communicator from the chest pocket of her crop top she flipped it open “Commander Astrid to Cerberus one to beam up!” she ordered, and with in moments the whine of a transporter filled the air and the Andorian vanished from view returning to their new ship so that she could ready the rest of the crew

Astrid

Jean had been to these events many times, but had never seen the Empress before. He thought she was simply divine and looked cute in her uniform. Smiling he made his way to where the crew was assembled and yelled, Hail to the Empire and Hail to our Captain!”
