Micha looked at the list of officers he had to keep an eye on. One name on his list was that of the Chief Medical Officer. Athinias Ch’sheval, a half Andorian officer with an interesting past. Standing up, Micha jabbed his finger on the comm panel on the wall of his quarters. He had intentionally placed his desk where he could do this, and he spoke.

“Lieutenant Thorn to Lieutenant Ch’sheval. Do you have a bit to…speak with me.”

It took a moment to get a response from the CMO. Then his voice came over the comm, “Unless it’s urgent, I’d rather not. If it is urgent, come to the CMO’s office and we’ll speak there.”

In Sickbay, the ship’s gruff and crabby CMO was busy with paperwork. If only the crew could hurt themselves or each other less. That would make his job easier. Alas, the crew was not so considerate. And what came with endless appointments and patch jobs? Charting and paperwork. He had no time with whatever it was Lieutenant Thorn may want, nor did he have any interest in finding out what it was he would like to speak about.

Micha frowned. This complicated things, but he would go. He walked over to his bed, where he’d left his uniform jacket, and slipped it on. He headed to the door, stopping just short of it when he realized he hadn’t remembered to put on his wrist blades. Putting those on, he made his way to sickbay, ringing the chime at the door of the CMO’s office.

Athinias reached for the door control and let the door slide open. “Lieutenant Thoran. What, exactly is so important that you need me right now?” He asked, looking up at the other officer. He did not know Thoran well, nor was he particularly sure what the man was supposed to do as Inquisitor. That was why he felt he could get away with so much attitude, of which his voice was dripping when he spoke. His half-breed status meant he was often given attitude and disrespected himself, he was used to dishing it right back.

“I’ve been reviewing crew records. I’d like to discuss the fact that you’ve been part of the resistance.” Micha’s voice was laced with a sort of hint of distrust and disdain. A careful observer would notice that.

Athinias’ gaze narrowed and he shook his head, his voice taking on a defensive tone. “I have no remaining ties to those groups.” The answer was short and definitive. “I’m not willing to discuss it further.” The truth was, he had once been quite loyal to the resistance, however, he had been treated like dirt because of his human half, and the distrust of those around him had ended in his dismissal from the group. Now he felt no such loyalty to them. They were, in his eyes, just as bad as the humans were.

“I would hope not. For both of our sakes.” Micha said calmly, shifting one arm so the very edge of the wrist mounts of his blades showed. “Though I am required to ask. I hope you understand.” The truth was, Micha was wary of Athinias’ loyalties, and didn’t quite believe the other man when he said he didn’t have any remaining ties.

Athinias seemed unintimidated, rather offended by Micha’s wrist blade. He stood, posture saying he was ready to defend himself. “Are you intending to threaten me?” He asked. In his tone was the flaring anger characteristic of his Andorian descent, his antennae pressed part way back. “I’ve given no reason for anyone on this ship to distrust me! Contacted no one suspicious! What right do you have to accuse me of such things?” He’d spent his entire life dealing with such accusations, and it angered him every time. He couldn’t go anywhere without being looked upon with distrust and anger or anxiety. “I hope you have a reason to ask me such a thing, for your sake.”

“Well as it’s part of my job, doctor, I do believe that’s a good enough reason!” Micha said, with an edge to his voice. “I’ve been tasked with ensuring the crew is not just loyal to the empire, but also capable, psychologically, and mentally.” He smiled a little, “have to make sure you’re up to that task.”
