After leaving the XO’s office, Jhene went to go check out the medical area on the ship. She imagined that it would be the least visited area by her but now was an opportunity to explore and get acclimated with the crew there. When she arrived she strutted in and said in sing songy tone, “Hey, hey, hey....anyone here to give this Orion girl a medical evaluation?”

“We in a musical?” came a grouchy reply from a passing doctor, an Andorian one.

“Oh, yay!” Said Jhene as she hopped on the biobed. Unmoved by the andorian doctor’s mood. “As for the musical, I wish. I like to sing and would love to star in one.”

Athinias’ frown deepened. “As long as I don’t have to hear you, do whatever you want.”

“What you don’t like music or you don’t like my singing?” She said as she resisted the urge to touch his antennae. She didn’t want the andorian to flog her, and he would be right to do so.

“Looks like that lovely duty falls to me.” Doctor Ch’sheval was like this to everyone, all the time. He pointed to a biobed. “Go and have a seat and I’ll be with you in a moment.” Then he headed away.

“Yes, doctor, take your time.” He feet dangled as she sat on the biobed studying the room.

A few minutes later, he was back, PaDD and tricorder in hand. “What’s your name…? Any concerning symptoms, travel to strange places I should know about as a doctor?” He asked, tapping on the PaDD screen.

“Jhene Ynuchausti, sir.” She said as she studied his antennae. “Nothing concerning. I just left Starbase 11 and I have had all my vaccinations.” She grinned at the doctor and said, “So have you been on the Cerebus long? You must tell me what your time here has been like.”

“Long enough to argue with the first officer,” replied Athinias vaguely. He was known to have a temper, courtesy his Andorian side, and it was great at getting him in trouble. “People aren’t particularly friendly, but then again,” he gestured to himself. “Might just be me. I’m going to run a scan, just to see.” He said, picking up a tricorder. Then, he ran the sensor probe near her from head to toe, watching the screen for results.

The scans showed she was normal and absent of the phernomnes that typical Orion women possessed. Jhene silently processed the part about people not being friendly then asked, “Why is everyone in a bad mood? We are Starfleet officers and are going to go missions, encounter new beings and civilizations!” She was obviously a little ditzy and eccentric. They type that may get on everybody’s nerves.
“You had a fight with the XO? Did yall use that big fighting area I heard a lot about? Who won?” she asked anxiously.

Athinias gave the woman a withering look. “Don’t expect anyone to be all doe-y eyed about exploring and encountering civilizations. In all my years of space travel, it’s only the newbies that act like that.”

Then he shook his head. “Not that kind of fight. No fists were thrown. Just words.” Athinias could handle himself in a fight, but he preferred to only fight when necessary, too many fights were hard on the body medically and that could make one weaker. “You’re fine. Cleared for duty.”

Jhene laughed nervously, “Well I am not really a newbie. I have been serving for three years…on a Starbase. This is my first time on a ship.” The doctor was mean, what was wrong about being excited to explore the universe.
After she was cleared, she hopped off the biobed and pestered the man some more, “So this fight. What happened. A disagreement? Tell me about the XO. You are both Andorian right? Is she a micromanager?”
She shook her head, “Those are the worse kinds of people to work for.” Then it was as if a light bulb went off in her head. “You know what? I think you need a mental break from all this medical stuff. We should go get a drink. In the lounge and you can tell me all about this fight. I am a great listener by the way.”
