After a night of deep contemplation, Aihia decided it would be best to speak to the Admiral, herself. With command of the bridge being held by the ranking conn officer, she knew she had relatively an hour before the said Officer would be off shift. Thus, she quickly dressed, slipping on her red tinged uniform and pulling back curly hair, to reveal slim, pointed ears. Adjusting the pin upon her chest, she retrieved her PaDD, sliding it beneath her left arm, where it stayed put against her left ribcage.

=^=Computer; locate Admiral Loquehart.=^=

Waiting for an answer from the computer, Aihia have a brief comm to the Conn Officer, making him quite aware there may be a delay in his relief, due to a meeting she had. Certainly, she did not specify as to who or why this so-called ‘meeting’ was in place, however, it was only proper to notify the man, in case there was a slight chance that she would not make it to the bridge in time to relieve him from his position.

The computer responded =/\= Admiral Loquehart is in his quarters. =/\=

Votex

Bump

Aihia rose an eyebrow at that, however there was no given reason for the sudden shift in expression. Adjusting her uniform, she headed towards the Admiral’s assigned quarters, running over what she planned to speak with him about. Upon her arrival, she pressed her hand to the chime, awaiting further commentary.

The doors slid open as a voice said “Please come in.” The Admiral was seated on a couch in the middle of the room reviewing something on a PaDD. “Hello, Captain. Nice of you to drop in. Please have a seat. And what brings you to these fine, fine dignitary quarters?” Loquehart said with a friendly smile.

Admiral Loquehart

Dignitary? A peculiar choice of words for quarters upon a ship such as this. However, she dare not question such a high-based decision of explanation. Inclining her head, she made her way to sit across from the man, straightening her stance, clasping her hands upon her knee, which was now draped over her left. “Firstly, I came to see how you were faring. I hope all is well with you, sir?” She inquired, “Is everything satisfactory, as of now?” Simple to get these mundane things out of the way, first.

Loquehart smiled and nodded knowingly. “It is, Captain. Now what really brings you here?” he asked

Loquehart

“Forgive me, Admiral, there is no intentions of overstepping,” Aihia began, considering what was going on. “But there is still some uneasiness going about, regarding this whole mission. Officers are being asked to pursue certain task without any information beyond ‘it is for our current mission,’ for reasoning behind it. I do not wish to pry you, but I do feel there is more than you are telling us, sir.” Her words were both blunt and tactful, “It is obvious there is more to this than simple negotiations, based upon the range of personnel you have brought upon this ship. Do you fear negative reaction from the proposed species, sir?” She paused, taking this slowly, as not to overstep her rank. Of course, Aihia was a captain and she felt the urgency to know what was going on. Not to mention, what exactly was her ship expected to do? It wasn’t quite understandable, based on what little the Admiral had them knowing.

Loquehart smiled. But this smile was not like his normal diplomatic one. This one was more… tired. “Ah, I see.” and he stood up and walked over to the desk and opened a small black box that was sitting on it, retrieved a cigar from the case, and walked back and sat down - leaving the case open on the desk. He lit the cigar and took a puff. “Don’t worry about the smell. These have no aroma, just taste. If you care for one, help yourself, Captain.” he said, staring intently at Aihia.

Loquehart, Admiral

Aihia fought the urge to ask if he was all right, but she knew that was not exactly her place to ask, especially being so far beneath his rank. Keeping her tongue, she watched him and that small black box, a bit curious and concerned as to what rested inside of it. Cigars? Those still existed? She had assumed they were wiped from the trade with how dangerous they were for the person who smoked them. Wiped from Starfleet, at least. Although, this man likely held much higher a class than Aihia did, making it a bit unsurprising that he would have been the one smoking a cigar. His state made her wonder if she was supposed to take one, or if she wasn’t. Aihia didn’t smoke, she drank from time to time, but she didn’t smoke. Couldn’t smoke. “I appreciate the offer sir, but I will have to pass.” She smiled, politely.

The Admiral cocked his head slightly to one side, his gaze never leaving Aihia. “I would recommend you reconsider. The taste of a good cigar can be very relaxing. Helps open the mind to new things, even.” and he took a long look back at the box and then back to the Captain. His eyebrows raised slightly and his eye seemed to be trying to say something.

Loquehart

Why did it matter so? Aihia furrowed her eyebrows in the slightest, considering it for a few seconds. She had never smoked, it was bad for her lungs, lungs that still held the signs of asthma. “If it didn’t have so many risks, sir, I would. Unfortunately, I cannot risk that. Thank you, though.” How could a cigar relax her? What woukd relax her in it? The nicotine? Or whatever matter was in those. “I think space is an addiction enough, sir. It opens my mind quite clearly to new venues.”

The Admiral looked at the Captain with a long look that had a tinge of exasperation. “Well, before you leave, I insist you take one with you. You never know when you may fancy it.” he said with a chuckle. “Now, as to your questions. Can you be a bit more specific? ‘Uneasiness’ and a question as to my selection of staff is a bit… general… for this hour.” he said, and blew a cloud of odorless smoke above his head.
