Aihia tapped her fingers against the hard surface of her desk, dark eyes staring down at her nails as she did so. It had been sad to see her Excutive Officer leave the ship, but she knew it was the best choice for him, wherever his adventures would take him. It would take a moment to get things back into order, and that meant going as soon as possible. Without an XO or a CE, she needed to fill those roles as soon as possible, so the command did not break in its wake.

She had spent the last several hours going through different officers to see who might be equipped for the job of the Chief Engineer. Of all the officers aboard the ship, only one stood out. And in the end, that seemed to be the best choice.

=^=Aihia to Ensign Argeneau; report to my ready room as soon as convenient.=^=

=^= Ensign Argeneau here, on my way captain.=^= Heather said making her way to the first turbolift that would take her to the bridge and then walked through the captain’s ready room. Once outside the door, she hit the chime to let the Captain know she was there.

“Come in!” Came the gruff voice of the Romulan woman. When Heather entered, she would find Auhia standing beside the window, a cup of tea in her hands. Her posture was lenient, allowing herself the pleasntry of comfort, long hair falling in a standard do. Quietly, she stood watching the stars as they leisurely moved past Dauntless.

Heather did enter, “You wished to see me, captain? I was on my way to see Si’Rek when you called, I remembered something from when I was working on the diplomatic quarters.” She said softly coming to attention.

Heather Argeneau, Ens.

“Yes. Please, have a seat, Ensign.” The Captain waved her hand towards a chair situated across from her desk. “Good news, I hope?” She inquired, although such a topic was clearly not the reason she had sent for the Ensign.

Heather took the offered seat, “Well, I remembered something I remember a human man, blond, average height, pips were on the wrong side.” Heather said thankful to finally report that. She had been on her way to do just that when the Captain called her to her office.

“Alas, it is the small things that get people snatched.” Aihia tapped her fingers against her thigh, “Although, I regret to inform you, Commander Si’Rek will not be on board to receive such a report.” Turning from the window, she sauntered over to the desk, leisurely taking a seat behind it. “He has taken up a position elsewhere, hence the meaning behind our meeting today, Miss Argeneau.”

Heather’s eyes widened at this, after all the flake he gave her for leaving the ship when she’d only just arrived he takes a new position and abandons the Dauntless. “I guess congrats are in order.” She said though hide the hurt that he hadn’t said goodbye to her. However, he was also the only one that knew her secret on the ship. No one else knew what she really was or her abilities.

Heather Argeneau, Ens.

“I suppose you are correct, Ensign.” Aihia offered a somewhat labored smile. She found a sense of pain behind the idea of her trusted executive and a close friend leaving the ship, but she was no fool to believe Heather did not feel the same. “While I scavenge for the looks of a new Executive Officer, I need someone I can rely on at the head of Engineering. You are one of the brightest engineers I know, Argeneau,” She leaned down, removing a black box from with a drawer of her desk. Setting it down, she pulled it open. “I would be honored to have you as my Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Argeneau.” Lt. JG pips rested before her.

Heather looked genuinely surprised by this. “Unfortunately, I cannot possibly accept your generous promotion without explaining a few things to you first,” Heather said. “There are a few things that you don’t know about me that aren’t in my file for a reason. the only person on this ship that did know about this was Si’Rek because he knew my uncle. First I am not El’Aurian as my file says, I’m Atlantean, my family dates back to before the fall of the Lost city of Atlantis. Our Scientists were rather advanced compared to our advancements here, though even they did not reach the stars. Rather they worked with bioengineering and mixed nanite technology to create little Nanos that could go into the bloodstream to repair the human body. Only they worked too well repairing the damage of everyday life, pollution, sunlight, age even. Over the centuries, humans have come to call us Vampires. My elders perfer the term Immortal though.” Heather told her captain waiting to see how the woman would accept this information. that would tell her if she could remain and accept the CEO’s position or transfer from this ship to another.
