Heather hadn’t been back to Main Engineering since the Captain had promoted her to Chief Engineer. She still didn’t feel like it was right, not with how quickly her friend and mentor, Si’Rek, left the ship. She still did not understand why he left because he had not said anything before he had left. Stepping through the double doors to the main engineering she made her way over to the Chief’s office and looked inside. It was more barren than she remembered from the few times she had entered this office with Si’Rek behind the desk.

It would more than likely stay like this for Heather had no idea what kind of personal items if any at all to put within the office. She knew that Si’Rek had had a few momentums of his past jobs placed around. Heather, unfortunately, did not keep a lot of personal items on her other than a picture of her parents and the rest of her family. She, however, did not put those in a place where people could see them. It would put them at risk if her secret ever came out. Thinking of her secret Heather was starting to wonder if it had been a mistake to accept the Chief of Engineering position because as a grunt no one looked at her too closely. As CE they would be looking far more closely at her than before. She sighed and moved out of the office to check on the engineering readouts what with the few engineers moving about the bay it was far quieter now than it would be, come alpha shift.

Bump do we have a GM anymore?

OOC: Temporary Storyteller to the temporary rescue! I’m gonna try and tie this into the main sim.. we’ll see how this goes. :P

IC: Among those present in engineering, one man seemed a bit out of place. He was an older man, perhaps in his early fifties or late forties, particularly unassuming at first glance. Equipped with raven hair and the darkness in his eyes to match, he looked well considering his age. He moved diligently, albeit slower than his younger companions. His hands adept in the practice of engineering and despite the faces lost to his memory, he had never forgotten how to handle the warp core.

With his back turned to his associates, he worked tirelessly at a panel situated before the warp core. Cautiously peering out of the corner of his eyes, as if searching for impending danger, the man pecked away at the core’s systems, hastily replicating code from a PaDD hidden by the angle of his body.

Engineer

Heather looked around her engineering bay it was a moment before she noticed the unassuming man by the core, her curiosity was peaked. She made her way over to him, sensing the cautiousness about him as if he were keeping an eye out for danger, so she made sure to not be so close, but that he could see her coming. “How’s the work going?” She asked the Engineer, making sure she didn’t seem threatening in any way just in case.

bump to not lose

“Fine, ma’am.” The man responded, slight melancholy in his tone. He did not seem frightened by Heather’s arrival, rather his leisure was room for comfort in his surroundings. It was an act, and he played it well. “It has been a week since the warp core has had a proper sequence of scans, I figured it was time to give her due.” He subtly switched the PaDD from its previous display, although it was obvious, if Heather had been watching, the display was different than what it had been prior.
