“I don’t know about that, Dauntless is a primarily war-based ship.” Ael remarked, a facetiousness hanging in the air as she took another bite of her wrap. She was not used to the welcoming presence of noise; far too long she had spent staring at the walls of her quarters, ready to rip her hair from its roots in irritation by the deafening silence. It was nice–to have company, that was. The last time she could recall enjoying a meal with someone who wasn’t on official business had been in her Ensign and Lt. years, days thrust long behind her in their oddity. “Speaking of Dauntless–how are you holding up at her new Chief Engineer?” She asked, raising her attention back to Heather. “I know the change was abrupt, and I apologise for that. Hopefully it has not caused you too much trouble?”

Capt. Aihia
CO

“So far so good, no trouble and the rest of engineering seems to have adjusted to the fact that I’m their Chief now. I was mostly acting as Si’Rek’s Assistant Chief anyways so it was an easy switch over. Though I do miss him now and again he made it look easy.” Heather admitted. She smiled softly as she sipped at her drink. “I must say though Captain, nice switch in conversation to hand it back to me,” Heather said with a soft laugh as she was enjoying their dinner as well.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Si’Rek spoke highly of you, Heather. And from what I’ve seen, it is no wonder he did.” She missed Si’Rek as much as Argeneau did, but she was glad to have a competent woman taking over his position. “He will be sorely missed, but I’ve no doubt the Dauntless will be better than ever with our oncoming Executive.”

“Ael, please.” She smirked, “You caught that?” Ael figured her mastery of the elusion was sublime, but she was sadly mistaken. “It seems I need to touch up on my game.”

Captn. Aihia
CO

“Not hard to miss, but then I have sharp skills and it is obvious when someone doesn’t wish to talk about themselves. I tend to use the elusion tricks as well.” Heather said softly.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Great minds think alike,” Aihia tipped her glass in a quiet gesture to Heather. “I suppose when you’ve live as long as yourself, or have done with your life what I have, there comes as point when you despise conversation about yourself.”

“How about we forgo the deep conversation for a bit. Yes, we’re not exaxtly mundane individuals, but perhaps such chatter could do us some good.” She suggested with a smile. “To begin.. what’s your favourite colour.”

No emotion, no personal attachment, just simple, frivolous questions. Oh how she sometimes missed the quotidian lifestyle.

Ael Aihia

Heather thought about this for a moment, “I would have to say it’s a cross between Purple and Blue.” She admitted, “Yours?” She asked with a smirk.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“So.. essentially indigo?” Aihia pointed out, leaning back in her seat. “I’m not an expert at colors, but if it’s on the spectrum, I’d have to say silver. It reminds me of home,” she remarked. “How about food? Considering you choose to eat that day.”

Aihia, CO

“Silvers a good color, as for food, no I don’t have a favorite food, I do not exact eat, but if I had to say this would be one of my favorite meals right here,” Heather smirked this had been a good meal. But she couldn’t eat a lot because her stomach was very small at the moment. “Do you have a favorite food captain?” Heather asked curiously.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Flattery will get you nowhere, Lieutenant.” Aihia smirked, tucking a strand of loose hair behind a pointed ear. “…But it might score you some brownie points.” Frivolity laced her voice, a side rarely seen of the gruff Romulan. “Japanese sweet potatoes,” Without hesitation, Ael laid it on the table. “I’m not sure if you’ve ever had the luxury of trying one, but there is nothing like it.”

Ael Aihia

“My Dear Captain, It has been 58 years since I ate food of any kind, In 128 years, food becomes a burden and takes up more time than most Immortals care to admit, we eventually just stop eating, this meal is the first I’ve had in 58 years and if you’ll notice more than half of it is still on the plate. so Japanese sweet potatoes are probably a luxury I missed sadly,” Heather said laughing softly.

Heather Argeneau, CE

T’Pon was the third most senior officer on board the USS Dauntless and therefore was likely welcome at the dinner both the captain and the chief engineer were present at. She was late, and, given her Vulcan sensibilities, this irritated her significantly.

Putting on a grey JAG uniform, she proceeded to head to the dinner and entered the room, look for Captain Aihia.

Cmdr T’Pon, JAG

“Fa–hold that thought,” Ael rose to her feet at the sound of the doors hissing open. She had not been expecting another attendee to this meeting. Furrowing her eyebrows, she rounded the corner to the entranceway. Although she did not wear surprise well, it could be found in the depths of her gaze. Most people did not have access to her quarters.

“Commander.” Aihia approached the Vulcan woman, her hands instinctively slipping behind her back. “How can I help you?”

Captn. Aihia, CO

“I was told there was a command reception. Am I welcome here or should I leave?”

Cmdr T’Pon, JAG

Heather turned in her seat to watch the Captain go, but she remained in her seat. Heather contemplated everything that had happened during dinner tonight. She too had not expected another to join them, but ultimately that was up to the captain.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“I believe you have been misinformed, Commander. Chief Argeneau and I were having a personal dinner.” She informed, turning to glance at Heather. “However, if Lieutenant Argeneau is comfortable with your joining us, then you are welcome to stay.”

Ael Aihia, CO

“My apologies. I thought this was some command reception, though if the chief engineering officer agrees, I would be willing to stay.”

Cmdr T’Pon, JAG

Heather smirked as she heard all of this from where she sat. She stood and moved to join them. However, this did risk her secret as she would not be able to talk as openly about it as she had previously with the Captain. “I have no problem with Cmdr T’Pon remaining, I am sure she is hungry and I would feel remiss in making her leave rather than offering up something to eat,” Heather said softly though, her eyes told the Captain they would not be able to continue their conversation on her past.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Will a chickpea wrap suit your dietary needs, Commander?” Ael asked, indicating a chair at the table she and Heather had come from. She had not intended another attendee, but she had enough to spare. If Aihia were displeased by the Commander’s intrusion, she hid it well. It seemed wrong to turn her away. Yes, despite the Romulan in her blood, she did have consideration for others. “Would either of you like something to drink?”

Aihia, CO

“Anything will do right now, ma’am. Yes, I would like something to drink,” T’Pon said, moving towards a table seat.

Cmdr T’Pon, JAG

“A refreshment on my sweet tea would be wonderful, thank you, captain,” Heather said appreciating the offer.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Sure,” Aihia smiled, a hint of melancholy behind her tone. She had enjoyed the frivolity of their conversation; it was a rare delicacy neither of them often had the chance to pursue. Alas, good moments were in short supply.

Gathering Heather’s glass, and retrieving T’Pon’s from the replicator, she filled them with the sweet, Terran concoction. “How have you been settling into the Dauntless, Commander?” Ael questioned, setting their glasses respectively before them.

Ael draped a napkin over her partially-eaten meal to keep the food safe from the air’s chilling attack. Once certain the impending assailant would have no chance to stealing her meal’s freshness, she went to prepare T’Pron’s wrap.

Aihia, CO
