Casela walked into sickbay. She’d had to go to the lounge with the RTF team before she could come. She had to make sure that the team didn’t indulge too much. As soon as she knew they were settled and that Manhattan was staying, she left. Her ribs were killing her. And it was beyond her ability to repair herself. Doc Fey was going to make a report. Casela groaned and moved toward a biobed. This assignment couldn’t possibly get any worse.

OOC: I love how this is two days after arriving and we are like a month IC time. LOL

The Doctor was working on some experimental chemicals with the rest of her team trying to come up with countermeasures for the upcoming mission when Casela came in and laid on a bed. The Doctor watched the patient carefully for a moment before she got up and walked over to start a scan. “So what did you do this time? Argue over who had the biggest and the most?” She watched the conclusion of the scan and scowled at the Lieutenant. “I’m going to need you to explain why I shouldn’t call the XO or the Captain should the injuries be Ryder’s doing.” The doctor’s long limbs crossed in front of her as the scowl settled on disappointment.

“No doctor, I was forced into conducting combat training for squadron two of RTF. Captain Manhattan has a penitent for torso shots and I didn’t move fast or far enough.” And it ticked her off to admit it too. Manhattan had a good follow through so even if he ‘missed’ he was likely to score a hit. “I don’t know why you would think Cmdr. Raauhl would be at fault.” The jerk TOLD! She cursed silently to herself. “M Cpt Manhattan isn’t aware of the injury because I didn’t tell him, nor did I tell Cmdr. Raauhl. Combat training can get out of hand quickly, Doctor. It happens. It wasn’t done maliciously. I’d have them in lock up if it had been.” Casela laid still making sure not to jar her ribs too much.

The tricorder would show broken ribs on one side. And some impact bruising on her arms, some muscle and tendon strain where Manhattan took out her ankle to drop her to the floor. Nothing to her face, knees, or upper legs. Lots of damage from punches to arms, back, and abdominal area. The most severe are her ribs.

Doctor Kastil looked over the scan information and became wide-eyed at the display. “Good Gods lady, was he wearing a metal gauntlet when he punched you? This is excessive for just training, who did this to you? Captain Manhattan? I’ll have to have words with him.” The Doctor transmitted the damages to a screen to show the counselor just how broken she was. “You see this mess, this is your 7 through 10 left side ribs. You see that jagged piece there, it’s two millimeters from your left lung. You think your chest hurts now, imagine if that had actually made it through. I’m going to have to open you up to put most of that back where it should be. How many times did he hit you in the ribs?” The doctor shakes her head, “I don’t understand why you do this to yourself or even let it happen. There is a limit where the training should be about self-restraint over just pure damage.”

Casela listened to the good doctor. Manhattan was actually very compassionate and would probably do something drastic if he knew how badly he’d hurt her. He’d been furious when he’d patched her up after her roe with Raauhl. “Three times, and no we weren’t using metal gauntlets, we were using training tonfas, they’re padded. I’ll be sure to speak with him tomorrow. I was trying to get here first. And if you’ll notice, doctor, before you become enraged at M Cpt Manhattan, my ribs have been severely damaged before. It doesn’t take much damage them these days.” Casela nodded at the scans and the doctors assessment. “Don’t have time to recuperate from surgery, Doc. Patch me up, we can deal with the rest later.” She was sure Kastil would pull rank and really Casela knew those ribs would need surgery. She just didn’t have time to waste on recovery. And she really wasn’t looking forward to the doctor questioning her about what the uniform hid.

The Doctor stood and moved the display closer to the wounded Counselor so she could see the individual fragments. “Look at this, let us count the fragments, shall we?” Now the doctor was just being condescending. “One…two…eight. This isn’t a patch job Lieutenant, if I don’t put your ribs back in place, they WILL puncture your organs and it WILL make things worse. Your recovery time,” The doctor waved a hand toward her chemistry lab, “May be negotiable, but the fact that you NEED that surgery is without question.” The doctor puts the monitor away and stands back from the biobed. “Now, you can change yourself into a gown, I can change you into a gown, or I can call Captain Cobb and he can change you into the gown. Either way, this surgery is happening…right now.”

The doctor turns and claps twice getting the attention of the other doctors in Sickbay. They all move over to the main bay area and help the doctor into her surgical clothing. “So tell me counselor, will this be fun, or will it be significantly less fun?”
