Ferl’lak stepped into his big office. He was surrounded by his precious artifacts and artwork and felt calm. As a Ferengi he sympathized with the crew about having a very high ranking person that not only truly believing they have more power and authority than they actually have, but one that has a very clear agenda and that was to get rid of the current CO and this station.

Ferl’lak could not let that happen. He needs this station to establish trade routes not only for the Federation but for his own vast business. He has calculated an increase of 2,000% for his business and his personal fortune would quadruple, making him, that he knows about, the wealthiest Ferengi alive and the richest person in the Federation.

He smiled at that and poured himself a glass of rum and sipped on it while preparing the datapad the Captain wanted. He frowned when he actually saw how much he has spent with not only the contract Latnium provided by the Federation, but it wasn’t enough. He decided it was a calculated risk to dump his own Latnium into this station. When he saw that figure Ferl’lak’s hand began to shake and he quickly reached for his rum and downed the whole glass and poured another round and downed it. He poured another glass but left it alone.

Calmer now he knew it was in his best interest to sink all of this Latnium into this station but to a Ferengi, any Latnium spent, even a single bar, is difficult and yet he had spent a grand total of £54,640,162,990.76. (The “£” is for Latnium in this instance and not Pounds). Damn near everyone on this station owes Ferl’lak a great deal by making it so they had their rooms, linen, tools, pads, medicine and medical equipment, and a slew of other infrastructure and personal amenities and luxuries, not to mention providing the food for the first three months.

The only people who know of his huge sacrifice or generosity, was the Captain and the XO. Although they suspect that he was doing it for other business reasons as well.....and they would be right. He was a Ferengi after all. Not the typical type of one but a Ferengi just the same.

So his final totals were for total given and spent:
Federation budget received:£2,892,004,661.99
Federation budget spent: £2,892,004,661.99

Ferl’lak personal budget spent: £54,640,162,990.76
A small tear fell down his cheek as he pressed send to the email to the Captain and sent them to the PaDD’s he had that he would carry for the Admiral and his team of schmucks.

Bump

Figuring it might be time to check up on the civilians of the base, Omni quickly found her way to the office of Ferl’lak. She had not met much of the man prior, however, she intended to change that with this brief meeting. Stepping up to the room, she adjusted the hem of her uniform, which clearly indicated her affiliation on this shipyard. Making certain there were no visible wrinkles, as she did not intend to appear a ruffian, in any way, not that a few wrinkles would truly do that. However, Omni saw no need in risking it. Raising her mechanical hand, its lithe, titanium structure allowing for optimal movement, she pressed a chilled finger to the chime, awaiting response from the man within.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Ferl’lak was busy finishing the math and putting the information onto easily readable PaDD’s for the staff coming to visit when he heard the chime. “Come in!” He said staring at the door.

The office was big as he purchased two offices and had the wall knocked down. It was divided up into an obvious office section, a meeting area with a big table and chairs, a bathroom and a full wet bar. He liked to entertain and he also proudly displayed art from many cultures and planets throughout the room. Some under glass and others not. One thing that was under glass in a darken corner of the room was a Ferengi Da’Mon uniform with rank, medals and ribbons adorned in its proper place. The only thing from Ferl’lak’s past that was visible if one knew about such things.

Stepping into the office, Omni took a second to survey her surroundings, noticing the open layout of the office. She didn’t pay much attention to much of the decor, beyond her sloght catch of the Ferengi, ribboned uniform. Quirking a brow, or perhaps her own equivalent, she ventured further into the office, adjusting her gaze to land directly on Ferl’lak, himself.

“Mister Ferl’lak,” The Lieutenant greeted, making her way across the room untils she stood before him, hands coming to rest behind the small of her back, where she preferred to keep them. “I apologize for the sudden intrusion, were you working on something of grave importance?” Of course, it could have mattered little to the XO, but she didn’t allow it to come off that way, especially when that wasn’t her view on the situation.

Lt. Cmdr Omni
XO

Ferl’lak was a bit takken aback by seeing the XO. To his shame he has not yet gotten to acquaint himself with her. “Ah! Commander! Do please come in! No. You didn’t interrupt anything. I just completed my task for the Captain and was about to take these PaDD’s to all that needed them. One is for you. It is my budget plus proposals.” He slid one to the front of the desk for her.

“I am eager to see what you have come up with, Mister Ferl’lak.” She had never truly met the man, beyond a few nods of acknowledgement while passing in the halls or whenever they were in an akin area. It was, in no way, anyone’s fault, simply a matter of business and schedule. “I am sure the others will be just as eager.”

“Yes. I’m sure they will but it was a bit depressing to see how much of my own Latnium I have put into this place. But it’s for the troops as is said often.”

“For the troops, yes.” Omni wasn’t sure how else to respond to him, hardly being a woman of business.

“Please. Let us move to the lounge area so we can sit and talk better if you don’t mind. It’s less formal unless this is formal business?”

Ferl’lak

“Of course,” Allowing her hands to fall before her abdomen, she ventured towards the lounge area. Respectfully, she waited for Ferl’lak to take a seat, as this was his office and she were nothing more than a visitor. “This has nothing to do with formality, rest assured.”

“I trust you have been well, Mister Ferl’lak?” Omni posed the question, keeping it calm.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

“Ah. Good. A brief reprieve from business. It is always a good thing.” Ferl’lak sat in one of the big lounge chairs. Actually it was built for him specifically. Since he is smaller than others. The chair is made to look almost as big as the surrounding ones but he can get into it much easier.

“I’m glad you came to visit.” He said as he waited for her to sit down. “I’ve been meaning to come see you but things keep popping up. I’ve been good. Was sick almost all last week because of radiation poisoning. Spent too much time overseeing the retrofit of that bad vessel. Now I have a robot doing it for me. But all in all I’ve been good. How have you been?”

“I see. Do not apologize for time lost, Ferl’lak, I understand. Sickness is no issue to he trifled with. May you continue to make a swift recovery,” She inclined her head in something comparable to respect for what he had gone through because of the radiation. “That is pleasant to hear.”

“I have been adequate,” Omni nodded. “The shipyard has been met with several recent changes, both in infrastructure and in atmosphere. One can hope they continue to bring life to the shipyard.”

He got up and went to the bar as she spoke and waited for an opening. “Would you care for something to drink? I’ll get you a water as well if you prefer that?” As he poured himself a three finger amount of Corellelian rum.

Ferl’lak

“I cannot drink. Water will be just fine.” Her people were not so adverse to the effects of alcohol on the system. In fact, it was poisonous to them, even in small amounts. Of course, her planet had different alternatives, but her people weren’t exactly known to the Federation, just yet.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

“Very well. Water it is. I hope you will allow me a slight reprieve into the various flavors the makeup the composition of rum to make me feel better about the business that is this Admiral?”

He walked over to her and gave her a chilled glass of cool water and went back to his seat and sat back down. He took a slow, long sip and smiled. “Ah! That hit the spot. Commander. Since we are just two colleagues chatting to get to know one another.....I do have a question that I have been dying to know. Now. You don’t have to answer. But....what species are you? You look familiar to me from my time with the Alliance. The Ferengi Alliance. I think somewhere in the Charlie Quadrant. And feel free to ask whatever you want to know about me. Today I’m an open book and nothing is off the table. There are thousands who would literally kill to be in your shoes right now and I’m dead serious.” As he took a sip of his rum and waited.
