=^=Omni to Stout; do you have a moment to spare, sir?=^=

Having finished with the requested department notifications, she discovered there was one last one she needed to have done. Captain Stout. She pondered his response, understanding he was a fair man who did have a no-nonsense attitude. It was part of the reason she got along with him. However, she questioned whether or not he would be pleased to know Pikelsimer called to her instead of him. Although, she doubted it greatly. Information was information, no matter the source.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

=/\= Sure thing, Commander. I’m in my office. =/\= came the response.

Stout, CO

=^=I will be there shortly, sir.=^=

‘Shortly’ happened to be a relative term. Luckily, for a woman of her nature, that term did not include any leisure idle along the way. Within minutes, as she was on another side of the shipyard, she had found her way to the Captain’s office. Adjusting the hem of her uniform, she pressed her hand to the chime, awaiting approval.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

“Come in.” came the reply and the doors slid open. Stout was seated at his desk and looked up as the XO entered. “Take a seat, Commander.” and he looked down at his desk interface and said “I think we are going to be ok with regards to preparations for the inspection. And I see that all available systems are online. That’s good.” and then he looked up at her and said “But I don’t think that is why you are here. Something’s up. What is it?” he asked, his eyes looking directly at her.

Stout, CO

“While that is all of vast significance and appreciation to know, sir. No, that is not why I’m here.” Taking a seat, she kept her stance straightened and somewhat formal. Omni had never been the type to enlongate things. Thus, she got straight to the point.

“I have just come back from a meeting with the Police Chief. He informed me of some rather interesting facts,” She began, “To begin with, it would seem that we have an underlying issue. Chief Pikelsimer recently found out there was a murder. In response to this murder, he was given orders to figure out the basis behind it. However, the initial theory behind the cause, is treachery. As a response, Chief Pikelsimer will be conducting an investigation to determine the murderer, and, in response, capture them.” It was all basic information.

“However, that is only the background in formation. There is a catch, sir.” She did not wish to bombard him with information he couldn’t entirely process.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Stout chuckled and took a drink from his ever-present coffee mug. “Isn’t there always.” he said as he set the container on the desk. “So? What is the ‘catch’?” Inside Stout was swearing a blue streak. Outside, he just looked annoyed.

Stout, CO

“The assassin, the one Mister Pikelsimer is most concerned about, may be aboard this shipyard.” Omni laid down the fact, her face void of any actual emotion beyond simplicity. She didn’t say anything more, expecting some sort of emotional response from the CO.

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Stout looked at her intently for a few moments and the took a drink of his coffee. Setting the mug down, he clasped his hands together on the desk and said in an almost unnervingly calm manner “I see. And who is this supposed assassin supposed to have murdered?”

Stout, CO

“A man of prestigious and high position within Federation Security. I do believe it was their director, sir. At least, that was what I read on the information that was given to me. However, I don’t believe this needs to go any further than you and I, for concern of striking fear in the crew.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Stout drew a deep breath through his nostrils, and exhaled slowly through his mouth. “So. We have a spy killer on board who managed to assassinate the head of Federation Security. That is… ill-timed, to be sure.” and he leaned back. “Do you know what Mr. Pikelsimer’s plan is for dealing with this?”

Stout, CO

Omni seemed to hesitate, a rather uncommon notion about the ex-Borg. “He claimed.. He would not be afraid to kill the assassin, should he find them. He asked that I understand that principle of his, and I have no doubt, he would ask the same of you.” She shook her head, “Of course, I reminding him of the repercussions, but he seemed unfased.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Stout nodded, deep in thought, as the XO spoke. He was silent for a few minutes, and then said “So I have an idea as to how we address this, but I’d like your perspective first. How do you think we should go about this?”

Stout, CO

“I believe we shouldn’t get in his way, until we are certain he will pose any threat to any of the crewmen onboard, including any civilians. Federation Security is not directly in correlation with Starfleet, as they act as two very seperate organizations. I do not believe it would our place to get involved, unless we are absolutely certain we must. That isn’t to say we shouldn’t offer our help in case Pikelsimer might need it. However, I greatly doubt he might wish for Starfleet to be meddling in business hardly their own.” She paused, “With that being said. We should be prepared for any sense of danger that might come our way. We are still getting things in order, but we need to make certain there are security perameters in place, in case this assassin thinks it wise to go after any of our people, as well. This is, however, only my opinion, sir.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

“And a solid opinion at that, Commander.” Stout said in way of agreement. “I am familiar with the Police Chief. I’m not worried about him putting innocents in harm’s way. And I am definitely on the same page with you with regards to FedSec. I want nothing to do with those spooks, and I would prefer that their business stay the hell off my station. But I guess we can’t get everything we want, now can we?” he asked sarcastically. He paused for a moment, deep in thought. “I would kill for a Security Chief right now…” he said absent mindedly. After a few moments, he looked at Omni . “Let’s just stay out of his way for now. If you are comfortable with it, I’d like you to keep tabs on what he is doing. Not spy on him, he’d get pissed. Just check in every so often, see where he is at. You can tell him that request comes from me. If he doesn’t want assistance, that’s fine by me. But I don’t you and I to get caught with our hind-ends exposed without knowing it’s coming. Make sense?”

Stout, CO

“Perfect, Captain. Visits can be made erratic, whenever there is time. That way, it seems more friendly and simply offering help, than trying to ensure this isn’t going to put anyone in harm’s way. Honestly, being someone who is intending to protect others, by nature of his occupation, I agree, we should doubt it would ever go that direction.” Omni returned, her voice without any nature of inflection. “He requested information be taken to Medicine and Science, both intending assistance on the issue. It seemed wise for you to know.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

Stout nodded and said “Make sure he gets whatever he needs, Commander. Whether he knows it’s coming from us or not. I don’t relish the idea of an assassin on our rickety little station right now. Speaking of, does Pikelsimer know how they got aboard?”

Stout, CO

“Negative, sir. He did not hint towards any knowledge of being specifically aware of the assassin being on board. I would assume it is a nagging suspicion, but we cannot risk the safety of our people on a suspicion, Captain.” Omni remarked.
