Elizabeth could be found behind the bar of her bar cleaning cups and mixing drinks as the orders came in. Most of her patrons at the moment were, working there were a few in for lunch so it wasn’t as busy as it could be in the evening when most of the shifts had come to an end. That didn’t mean she wasn’t busy though. Her place was one of the hotspots on this station due to the fact that it was family friendly with the lounge and at the moment there were several families having late lunch together during the weekend. She’s already had several chocolate shake orders go out.

Ensign McMoragh walked in after his duty shift; he was clearly tired. He sat down and said, “Excuse me, could I please have a Coors Light? It is an old earth drink.”

McMoragh

Elizabeth smirked at McMoragh as she turned behind the bar and grabbed a bottle. Popping the top on the glass Coors Light bottle she placed it on a coaster before Mc Moragh with a napkin next to it. “Rough shift?” She asked with an arched brow over one green eye.

“Honestly, being an Ensign, again, is always hard. People look at you weird and wonder why you can’t get it together. I have worked hard to just that, but it seems like I have to work even harder here. It gets old” replied MacMoragh as he took a drink of his beer.

MacMoragh

Elizabeth watched him, “You know, working hard is great and all, but if you don’t enjoy what you’re doing it won’t matter how hard you work.” Elizabeth advised. The former Engineer, loved working in engineering, still did really. However, when you live as long as she does, you need to separate what you love with other things you love otherwise it becomes boring and tedious. Then you lose the drive to do a good job.

Thinking for a minute or two, the Ensign replied, “I like my job but getting people to trust a busted Ensign is not an easy thing. That is why I was sent out here, I think. I believe that people in my last posting no longer wanted to work with me and Star-Fleet had trouble finding me another posting. I almost resigned my commission when these orders came. I decided that I would give this duty station a chance. So far it is about the same.”

MacMoragh

“I was a busted engineer once. Spoke my mind didn’t care what anyone thought of me if I thought they were wrong I let them know it. Then I met Chief, Captain Stout. He didn’t care if I was a busted mouthy engineer. What he cared about was I’m good at my job. and I was damn good at it. You keep this station running and you’ll have earned your Captains’ respect, in the long run that’s all that matters isn’t it?”

Ferl’lak was inside after his impromptu meeting with the XO. He was actually honest but wondered if she thought so. He believed she thought so because she doesn’t know much about Ferengi’s but most of all because of her high sense of logic. It was like talking to a Vulcan. He had been quietly listening in to their conversation waiting for a good pause to get a drink.

“Sorry to interrupt. But she is right Ensign MacMoragh. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop but I didn’t want to interrupt you two. You have to make the most of where you are at and who you are. And frankly, you are acting like a whinny little girl who didn’t get what she wanted for her birthday. Crying about how Starfleet and the people you used to work for are out to get you and keep you down. You have proof of that Ensign? Do you? Or are you perpetuating an idea or conspiracy that just isn’t there. You keep that attitude up and no one really wouldn’t want to be around you. You got to grab yourself up by your balls and pick yourself up and handle business. Be the man that you think you are…no. Be the man that you and the rest of us know you are. Sorry to be frank and blunt but you needed to hear it. I was a Da’Mon and stripped of my wealth, ship and crew and now look at me. Not onl am I a multi trillionaire but I am also a very high ranking civilian in the Federation and the top civilian on this station. Now how did I get to were I am today? Not by moaping around and saying whoas me and feeling sorry for myself. “

Ferl’lak let that sink in and he was a bit shocked that he even said what he did but maybe by hearing it from another successful person, it might sink in. Elizabeth was the other successful person.

“Elizabeth my dear. Can you bring me my usual and another for the ensign? Put it on my tab. I buy his drinks tonight. In fact. I’ll buy everyone’s drinks tonight.” Then he looked squarely at Ensign MacMoragh. “Because I can.” Hoping he would tie that in to what he said just a minute ago.
