“I contemplated on keeping it for myself but I’ve changed like I said. I’m not a typical Ferengi anymore and haven’t been since before exile. I planned to reveal this to the Captain once first contact has been made and coordinate it with this ship’s diplomatic corp and other necessary departments. As a member of the Federation for my job I have a job to find new customers. As a private business owner I have a right to claim unexplored territory as my own and conduct business. Just those two should never cross paths. Hence why I’m giving you access and why I have my private personal ships out as well. Some of the people on my ships are my employees and members of the Federation. Some diplomats and scientist.”

“I understand. It can be difficult managing both sides of two very different ways of life.” Omni inclined, her head. Regardless of the stoicism in her stance, she was appreciative that he had come foward and given her the information he had. It was the best for the base, for the command team to know everything going on upon the shipyard and within its vicinity. As any danger was there prerogative. “Thank you for giving me access to this information, it could prove beneficial, in the future.”

“You are most welcome.”

Omni set the PaDD upon her lab, clasping her hands together. Small ridges, dancing across her wrists and up her arms, became barely visible, as the uniform rolled back against her dark, ebony skin. Thinking, she couldn’t come up with anything vital to know. “If there is anything you wish me to know, or any questions to have for me, I am open to listening. Otherwise, no.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

“So. Likewise. What brings you here to this station and please, if you need to stand and talk, do so. I notice some uneasiness in your posture.”

Ferl’lak

“It is a mere.. Hardware issue. My apologies,”

“No need to apologize. It is quite alright.”

Omni took his offer and rose to her feet, which released the tension that well around the lower vertabrae of her spine. “As you know, I come from a species who was assimilated by the Borg, many of my people did not get the chance to survive as I did. Although, when you are assimilated, you commit atrocities unimaginable to oneself, when they aren’t or have never been, themselves. It is a word of fatalities and heinous crimes, committed against innocent people, because one woman thought it her right to convict them.” She shook her head, “This station, and Starfleet in itself, was an idea of repayment, not redemption. By serving here, I’m giving back to the people I previous took from. A way to balance the chaos of a people nobody could control. Logical, really.”

“I fully understand. But you nor anyone that has been saved from assimilation should be held responsible for their actions. As I understand it, it is a hive mind concept and if you did had any of your own thoughts, then you couldn’t act on them. You were controlled by a super hypnotist thng that controlled your and everyone elses thoughts and actions.”

If you had any of your own thoughts. Most of us don’t recall what happened during that time period, due to the lack of singular thought. Whatever was passed through our brain was never an original idea, it was second hand, a hand-me-down. Regardless of that truth, it was still done. You are right, as it was no any of our faults for what we did. However, it was still us who did it, and that holds some significance, to me, at least.”

Ferl’lak frowned. “It would appear so. Sorry.”

One may expect emotion in the way she explained her placement aboard this ship, but there was no sign of change in her inflection nor in the way she held herself. It was as if she were indifferent to every word spilling from her lips. And yet, anyone who knew Omni, was aware that was anything but the truth, for the young cyborg woman whose emotional capacity was no greater than a rock.

“This station got a shot at redemption, to become something more than a desolate body of metal floating throughout space without any given purpose beyond hovering aimlessly for eternity. Many thought it was beyond repair, or had no reason to be made any use of. However, the people spearheading this project thought differently. They believed this place had some purpose, some reason to exist again. Of course, the idea of scrap metal being used to forge or repair starships is a fairly vital cause. After all, we lose many crews and starships in the midst of battle. Although, it took sheer human tenacity to get it here, and it will take the same to keep it running.”

Ferl’lak nodded agreed with that statement.

“Really, the only reason I am here, is because I was asked to be. Starfleet figured they could use an intelligence officer around here, someone who had knowledge of the bowels of a ship and the people who lived upon them. It was a desire of theirs rather than a necessity of my own, if that makes any sense, Ferl’lak?”

Truth be told, she did not regret her time upon the Shipyard, recognizing it to be fruitful and full of previously unthinkable knowledge. It was a truly dynamic place, where the officers and civilians weren’t exactly what you would call ‘normal’ for Starfleet or the Federation. People here tested the boundaries, they poked and prodded at the hear, wondering if it would wake up, but never with a plan if it did. They walked constantly on thin ice, but most didn’t bat an eye at the possibility of it shattering. Omni didn’t understand how the humans could be so careless and yet particular about their motives. Then again, she never had any reason to ask.

“It makes perfect sense my dear. As someone that also....dabbles in intel, I fully understand. I must ask you that the intel that comes from my company and the the ones that come from the Federation, remain separate. You can use my intel when you brief highups but please refrain from disclosing the source. I know you know what I mean and am pretty sure that you excel at that type of thing.”

“Our sectors of Intelligence have no general reason of meeting, nor congregating in any sense. They will remain seperate, unless there is vast necessity of one to be in the precense of the other,” Omni nodded, understanding where he was coming from on that front. In all actuality, she agreed with him.

He nodded.

He finished his drink and got up to take the glass back to the replicator. “Recycle.” Turning to look up at her. “It appears that we come from very different backgrounds but have came to this station for parallel or like minded reasons. I will do my best to keep the PaDD I gave you refreshing with current information. I trust we have an accord?”

Ferl’lak

“I believe we do, Ferl’lak. You may be the head of civilian operations, and are completely seperate from the Starfleet personnel of this shipyard; however, we are here to assist in any means necessary. I should hope that is not forgotten,” Omni hummed, “I suppose that much is true, yes. Although, our varied backgrounds do seem to had… Character to this shipyard. Don’t you think?”

He smiled and chuckled. “Yes they do. I will assist in any means possible.”

“Duty calls, Chief.” She picked up the glass, intending to recycle it as he had, moving to the replicator, she made it quick and simple. “Should you require anything, my door is always open.”

Lt. Cmdr. Omni
XO

He inclined his head. “As with me Commander. This was very productive and I look forward to our next meeting. Have a great rest of your day.”
