Baleer sat in the middle of ops. He was way too big for the chairs and the consoles looked like a children’s tables around him. He was hunched over the engineering console staring intently at the LCARS screens. Using the tips of his claws, he had no trouble with the screens and seemed very proficient as he scrolled through various system readouts.

Kestiana was walking the station and decided to check in with Baleer to see how the newest member of their crew was settling in on the station. Spying Baleer over by the Ops Station she walked over to him. “Settling in nicely?” She asked by way of greeting.

Baleer turned his face towards her. There was something about the way the burning of his eyes shifted that let her know his gaze was focused on her at that moment.

“I’m settling in well.” he replied, “Much as expected.”

He gave a short laugh as he patted the floor beside him with a large clawed hand.

“I’ve learned to deal with the disparity of my size in relation to the average environment.”

“I’m glad to see your settling in nicely, I am, however, surprised that you haven’t decided to change the console layout to fit your size rather than settle for being uncomfortable at your station?” Kestiana asked out of curiosity of the situation.

“Well if I we’re, to be honest, I’d arrange it like a Kzinti console. They have sharp eyesight and use the tips of their claws as well and the touch spots are much smaller and closer together. It would make it difficult for most other species to use.” Baleer said jovially.

Kestiana listened to him for a moment, “That is true, the good thing is we have a user interface where you can program the console to the individual users so that you can use it how it is comfortable to you, and if you have an engineer take over for you on the bridge so you can see to Engineering then they’ll have it where it’s comfortable for them to log in.” Kestiana suggested with a soft smile.
