Many of my finest years at STF were the years I served as CO of the Darwin Class, USS Curie. We had a core of great players that worked well together, and I would like to think that a new crew on the old girl could do just as well.

One of the highlights of my time aboard was a series of sims based on a concept of deep space exploration. The Curie is a science ship after all. After traversing a wormhole, the Curie found herself in an unexplored area of the Beta Quadrant. Unsure if they could return, the ship began to explore the area of space. In doing so they ran unto a galactic power known as the Bat’Leth. The Bat’Leth were an inquisitive spacefaring culture that turned xenophobic due to early explorations returning with a virus that produced a global pandemic. The Curie’s crew did their best to ease the contact with this race over several sims, but in the end, more conservative factions won election pushing for a complete ban of outsiders. The Curie’s CO resigned his commission to stay behind and be an Ambassador for the Federation should the political winds change.
Several months later it was discovered that the Bat’Leth had indeed changed their minds to outsiders, and requested a Federation Envoy. The Curie was again asked to traverse the wormhole and be the olive branch. This turned out to be a ruse and the crew barely escaped back to Federation space. It was decided that the wormhole be closed to prevent an avenue of attack if the Bat’Leth ever choose to invade.
It has been over fifteen years and the wormhole has been quiet. The Curie was decommissioned a decade ago and sits in mothball. But not all is as it seems. Recently a faint signal has been detected emanating from the wormhole. It’s possible the Bat’Leth are on the move and may be planning an attack. If Starfleet needs to know what’s going on on the other side of the wormhole, they need to send a ship that can assess the situation. A ship to gather intelligence. A ship with speed and agility. And there is only one ship that has ever traversed the wormhole successfully. They need the USS Curie.

I propose to recommission the USS Curie for at least one mission. Since the ship is a Darwin class explorer, and that design has been decommissioned as well, I would like to have her commissioned in the X-Fleet. If you feel this is a mission you would like to join, or want to know more about this idea, please contact me here through STF.

Sincerely,
Jody Romero

Thanks Jody. This sounds great! I’ve added the details to the X-Fleet classifieds section. Good luck in finding a crew and I hope we can get the Curie flying again soon!
