T’Ral was in his office, when NE Curious came and asked him “Sir, someone from Starbase 214 reported that our ship was pinging on a starbase. It shouldn’t be. After all, I thought this was supposed to be a covert operation?” he asked. T’Ral looked toward him and simply asked “and is anybody on Starbase 214 read in on the Trenton’s mission?” T’ral asked the officer.

“No sir, in fact - they have no business with this information,” the Ensign responded, worridly. T’ral thought about the issue, and then tapped his commbadge.

=/\=Lieutenat T’ral to Lieutenant Commander Falz. Has Starbase 214 been informed about our latest mission?” he asked. Starbase 214 was many lightyears away, and not even the starbase that the Trenton was based at. T’Ral’s logic told him there was no reason for them to have classified information on this vessel.

As T’Ral got reports that their movements should not have been given to Starbase 214, he decided to look into it a bit futher. He wanted to make sure there wasn’t a security breach, but the proof was hard to deny. Unless there was a reason for the comminque, then it could be putting the ship at risk. He put his findings onto a PaDD, and then tapped his commbadge. =/\=Lieutenant T’Ral to Captain Kaldland, I’ve found something… strange.=/\= he said simply, waiting to see if the captain was free to discuss it.

=/\=Get into my Ready room. ASAP.=/\= David said, closing down the work he was doing on a PaDD. Strange was never good on this ship.

Of course, there was no point being handed control of all the major systems and technologies on a starship if one did not use them to their own advantage. And so T’Ral had not been the only one to detect the covert communications between Trenton and Starbase 214…or the CoS’s attempt to raise it with the Captain. And so Tal’eran intended to make sure she was included in the conversation once it took place.

With that in mind, the Romulan presented herself at the office of the Security Chief to see what additional information she might be able to eke out of him.

  • Lua Tal’eran (CE)

T’Ral, seeing the Romulan, was not surprised. It was his job to know who was on the ship at all times, so he had already seen the orders come in for the new chief engineer. He raised an eyebrow when he saw the species in her file, but stepped out of his office as she approached. He also read about her skills, and even the captain’s information as to why she was chosen, at least a little. “Greetings, Lieutenant,” he said with a flat tone.
