Jim Watkin - Jan. 18, 2016

Sam is a keen and creative roleplayer, and I have served with her on a number of ships during her time in the club. The characters that she creates are quickly believable with appropriate backstories and development based upon their experiences.

I believe that she has the capacity to become a very successful GM.
Positive Attribute: Creative and detailed poster.
Negative Attributes: Sam sometimes expects instant responses to posts and questions, although having said that she is learning and getting into the habit of waiting.

Scarlet Olivia - Jan. 6, 2016

:) Sam is a great person to work with, an asset to any ship.
Positive Attribute: Creative, VERY VERY creative
Negative Attributes: None that are any detriment to her.

Charles Gilmore - Jan. 6, 2016

I’ve served with Sam in two capacities. The longer of the two has been aboard Outpost 42 where I admired her writing enough to actively recruit her to join the Olympic. She’s only served aboard the Olympic with me for a little over a month, but her writing was strong enough to earn my spotlight for the month of December. She’s a great writer. Detailed, committed, prolific, and most of all creative.
Positive Attribute: Creativity. She’s a creative writer who I know will have many stories to tell in the role of GM.
Negative Attributes: I know she disappeared for a bit, a month or so, which could be very harmful in a GM, but we’ve all had real life pull us away at times, and I have no experience with this being a chronic or repetitive issue.

Matthew Bernardin - Jan. 18, 2016

Samantha Hayes is an excellent Roleplayer who has shown quiet and constant dedication and skill in both main and side sims.
Positive Attribute: Flexible, adaptable and takes criticism well
Negative Attributes: She won’t give me any cookies?

GMT Reviews
Lindsay B - Feb. 9, 2023 - GMT Review - 90 Days

90-Day Review: GMM

Result: High Pass

  1. What are the key strengths of the GMT and what were their most significant improvements?

Sam is a creative poster who provide rich posts for the crew to react to. There seems to be decent chemistry forming in terms of the back and forth with a GM. The biggest improvement thus far seems to be asking question and soliciting feedback from their GMM before issues arise. Together we’ve been able to look at different options and find the best solution for the situation.

  1. What (if any) were the weaknesses of the GMT, and what do they still need to work on?

While consistency in posting is not always as strong as I would like to see (something to work on going forward), the crew has hd its up and downs too which can start to slow down a sim and deter a GMT. At this point i’m not overly concerned and the ship is in a healthier place than it was recently. I’m confident things will keep moving forward.

  1. Please add any additional information you feel the GMD needs to know about this GMT

Sam definitely has all the components of making a great GM. I think the trick will be keeping them in play over the entire duration of the sim. After all, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Dave Shotton - Feb. 16, 2023 - GMT Review - 90 Days

90-Day Review: CO

Result: High Pass

  1. What are the key strengths of the GMT and what were their most significant improvements?

Sam is able to relay believable information about the ship and provide enough information to keep the crew interested and looking for answers, letting them do the work and providing enough information to go through and hints for writers to follow up on. No information was a ‘dead end’ so the crew does not feel like they wasted their time following any particular information trace, and when no more information was available Sam made that clear.

Sam’s biggest improvement so far has been bringing in other writers as they joined the main sim, providing more specific information for those writers to follow their characters specialties with.

  1. What (if any) were the weaknesses of the GMT, and what do they still need to work on?

A little about posting regularly and staying out of awol, although this has been not all due to Sam. We have had holidays and people slow to return to full writing from RL, Losing our XO and finding another mid-sim, as well as disruptions in my own posting schedule due to extreme weather events that held Sam up from being able to move the sim along.

Lindsay B - Feb. 9, 2024 - GMT Review - Final

Final Review: GMM Result: High Pass
1. Sam is highly creative and genuinely wants to ensure the crew is having a good time. She pays attention to what they are doing and is willing to be flexible with what they are doing within the story. She accepted feedback and was willing to ask for advice from me when stuck. I found her very collaborative most of the time.
2. When it comes to consistency, Sam can be her own worst enemy. Navigating the RL demands of the crew means also maintaining an open dialogue with the rest of the command team, and that didn’t always happen without prompting. But, it’s something we’ve discussed and she is aware of. She also needs to work on finding ways to stay engaged with the ship even if the sim has stalled a little due to player’s not being available to post and advance the plot.
3. Sam is a great GM and with more experience will hone her skills even more. I have great confidence in her abilities as a storyteller. I’m very proud of her for completing her training sim!

Matt Evans - March 12, 2024 - GMT Review - Final

I’m substituting in for the second final review of Sam’s GMT. The CO was unavailable to complete his.

Based off of the GMM final review and the GMT’s final self-review, the consensus was a high pass. While there are definitely areas that can be smoothed out and worked on, I’m not concerned overall as experience gained from more sims will contribute significantly to the growth as a GM. With an active and supportive command staff I’m convinced that Sam will flourish as a GM and that her creativity will entertain the crew.
