Mission Summary: The Bonaventure was hailed by a being that seemed friendly at first and invited to his planet. Naturally, being explorers, the Bonnie complied.
The Planet( I forget the name) was shrouded in a strange mist that defied sensor's and hid the planet from scans.
De'lazera, the being that issued the invitation, bid the crew welcome with vision's and happening's that defied believability. They seemed to concentrate mostly in the crew's worst fears ( growing old and dying, fire, spiders, failure, ect...) and paranormal occurrences( able to tamper with ship system's to keep the Bonaventure from leaving.)
Just as the Bonaventure was about to leave, the ship picked up a distress call from an Ossarian ship that was having engine trouble and crashing onto the planet. Captain Carlyle authorized a rescue operation.
( Dave Wonderly had to leave the Bonaventure as the GM around this time. Ship's Co Joseph Bradley picked up the sim from here on)
The rescue team found the world a rain soaked ash covered dead zone with rain heavy at times. The team found the smoking ship, but lost sight of the MACO team and mission leader Scott Blake. Splitting into two team's One entered the ruin and the other went in search of Blake, who seemed to have encountered a life form in this dead world.
Ship team encountered all they expected inside a just crashed ship with smoke and fire and tilted decking, But when they entered the ship's bridge, the team had another encounter with the power's of De'lazera with the most feared image one of the team imagined. the other was able to resist the power of the Ghoul and overcome her own fear to deal with the other's tangible nightmare. They also found out that the two Ossarian's aboard were already dead..... and had been for years. the return trip was through an old wreak.
Off in the shadow's Delazera had also found his chosen companion he had waited on for generation's.
team two in search of Blake found out that the Lt. had entered an underground tunnel. Sound of a struggle could be heard from the mouth as the team entered. They followed for a short time and found the Lt.'s broken phase pulse rifle at an intersection. Down another corredor, they found a deranged Blake who took a couple of shot's at the two. After calming the Lt. down, they noted he acted funny, not like himself and on occasion not knowing who he was addressing.
Returning to the ship, all passed decon and were released for duty. Blake acting strange, went to the quarters of De'lazeras chosen and attempted to bluff her into joining him on a mission back to the surface.
What had happened to Lt. Blake was he had been subdued by De'lazera ( he wasn't affected by phase weaponry and had the strength of an ox)and placed in a suspension case along with the remaining inhabitant's of the planet. This was to preserve his conciousness and access his memories. De'lazera then took the form of the MACO team leader and infiltrated the Bonnie's landing party.
With Blake fighting with De'lazera for control of his mind, De'lazera revealed his true form to the chosen one and with the timely intervention of ship's securitywas forced off the ship.
The crew were now concerned that they had left Lt. Blake back down on the planet. another rescue operation headed by the ship's XO was sent down to find Blake or his fate and find out as much as they could about their mysterious tormentor.
The team found out that the inhabitant's of this planet had used chemical reaction's to produce power and that they had willingly entered a morgue of sort's to preserve there way of life for a short period. the threat of a war had driven them to take desperate measures and while their consciousness survived, their bodies had died. De'lazera was their guardian and he was looking for a mate to join him in undead marriage.
Meanwhile, De'lazera was making one final attempt to bring his chosen one down to him by crashing the Bonnie into the planet. with the help of the landing party killing the driving force behind the attempt ( De'lazera himself) the engineer's were able to bring the ship back under their control.
The team was able to defeat De'lazera by killing his body/ consciousness and rescue Lt. Blake.
They left a warning buoy to warn other's to stay away.
Not my best performance, but I didn't like leaving a sim unfinished.
