Mission Summary

The channel opened as the viewscreen flickered to life. It was difficult to see on the bridge of the ship that answered their hails as it was dim and smoky. Weird seeing smoke on a bridge of this era, usually it meant ill kept equipment to any engineers that new better.

Upon that smoky dim bridge could be seen diminutive figures fully cloaked from head to foot. One had to assume foot as no feet or boots could be seen, but none the less they seemed to move in a manner that indicated there would be at least two feet.

The hoods were dark and it was difficult to get a clear picture of the visage or face that was therein. Their hands when visable appeared to be gloved.

Short bursts of clipped speech seemed to pass quickly back and forth between the bridge crew, though it wasn't loud enough to hear the words clearly, only enough to get a sense of speech pattern. They seemed to be a bit excitable though.

Finally one of the crew came toward the viewscreen and his hood elevated slightly toward it. Unfortunately this did not enable Atwood or anyone to see what lay within more clearly.

"Greetings!" The being said."We be Awaj!" He barely paused long enough for Atwood to introduce himself and Starfleet before jabbering on.

"Come help? New technology! We try to make work! Need more power!" He said excitedly. It took some time but between Bob and the CE they were finally able to convince the Awaj that they were playing with fire and they would never get enough power to harness this anomaly and that it was at its breaking point.

They needed to return the anomaly to its more natural state and leave the area. The Awaj were very disappointed and shook their heads muttering about the loss of profits and opportunities but finally agreed to let the Viking try their experiment in siphoning off the extra power from the anomaly.

In fact the creatures were interested in the particulars of the venture and insisted on seeing the schematics of the experiment and were quite excited to watch it in progress.

Lt.jg Chapman moved the Viking into the position suggested by the computer scenarios and activated the deflector dish to begin siphoning the excess energy through the Viking's systems.

The entire crew and guests on the bridge waited with baited breath as the seconds passed by. In Engineering the CE and his engineers were frantically working with the systems which were either overheating or frying out due to the influx of power.

It was fortunate the CE was so fore sighted to have triple insulated everything though as it kept the ship from actually blowing up.

Several hours later the Viking was able to lead their little convoy of ships, the Morning Star and the six Awaj ships, back to Chiaros IV.

Contact was re established with both the government, the rebels and the away team left on the planet were returned to the Viking. Captain Atwood took a copy of what the rebels wished shown to the government and broadcasted it to the public.

The government quietly stepped down and a new provisional government was set up. The Ambassador, though he returned with the Viking to Earth, promised to return to Chiaros IV to see how the new government fared.

The Chiarosian's spoke with the Awaj and opened trade relations as it turned out the Awaj were a mercantile society that liked to buy and sell and were always looking for new product and connections. They even asked if they could send a representative to speak with Starfleet and it was decided he would travel with the Ambassador.

Finally job completed the Viking, with the Ambassador and Awaj representative aboard, headed home to Earth and some R and R.
