The Trinitron was on her way to starbase to receive their new CO when they intercepted a distress call. They discovered a derelict ship. An away team was sent to investigate. However, the away team was suddenly abducted. The XO and the rest of the ship tried to find out what happened. In the meantime, each member of the away team experienced strange adventures regarding their own fears of the Borg and Species 8472. Later they discovered that their minds were being tampered with. This occurred because the Trinitron fired an energy beam towards the derelict ship. That caused the power of the real ship, a spherical shaped ship, to reveal itself and the mind-control equipment to malfunction. The Trinitron was able to transport the away team back to safety.
At the same time, the new CO had his transport ship hijacked by some freedom fighters. With some new crew that were going to join him at the Trinitron, the CO managed to subdue the hijackers. They were given an experimental ship to look for the Trinitron which had not reported in since last report when they registered the distress call.
As they met, they discovered the spherical ship following the Trinitron without the ship detecting it. In the end, the spherical ship was destroyed and the two ships proceeded back to the starbase.
